I've said it before and I'll say it again GET RID OF VAR, 10 men in a room can't make a decision, the ref runs off to watch tv for 3 mins and still can't make a decision, may aswell stick to real time decisions and save us all the bother.

Every new idea has teething problems.

I mean they change the offside rule every other year. No one says let's get rid of the offside rule.

I theory VAR should be a massive improvement. Everyone complains nearly every week about grappling in the box and penalties that should be given. On the most part they have correctly called those decisions in the World cup so far.

I don't agree with the idea that it's only worth having VAR if it's 100% accurate. Nothing is 100% accurate but if we get far more correct decisions with VAR than without it then it's a step in the right direction.

Over time the kinks will be worked out and it will get better and better.

The world has grown and evolved over the last 60 years, arguably the world's wealthiest sport should grow and evolve with it.

That decision cost me a small fortune as well, really, really annoyed me. How he gave a handball for that and then didn't send Ronaldo off is beyond me.

They need to start sending off players instantly for asking (demanding) for VAR, managers as well. Every goal doesn't feel like a goal now, there is that 30secs - 1min wait watching the ref, wondering if he is going to do a dance move with his arms!

Iranian players last night were like animals in the refs face, hard to blame them either as it seems if you bitch aggressively enough things will be reviewed. Killing my enjoyment even before it cost me wedge on my accumulator!

You can see the smug looks on players and managers faces every time they protest a decision, no risk to them to make stuff up in the hope a camera picked something up that doesn't factor in speed of play. It has got some big calls right, but it has missed a lot and then you have weak refs craving the attention that VAR brings them. I just hope Phil Dowd doesn't get his hands on this, the game will be one long VAR session.

The only thing var is good for is offside, I mean Ronaldo last night was a straight red or nothing, that handball was no penalty, and the ref hadn't a clue what he was doing over it.

They are making a few errors but in my opinion you have to be pretty short sighted and not want the game to develop to be 100% against VAR. I am not sure it works in its current form but it is still getting a lot more decisions correct and quicker than everyone was making out. Also it means once the decision is made players stop moaning as it has been checked properly.

Players asking for VAR was always going to be a thing once it was brought in, why should it be a red card for asking a ref to look at an incident he may have missed? If it wasn't anything then he will find that out soon enough.

I am much more positive about it than I was pre-tournament, there will always be teething problems, my issue is that we shouldn't be using it in the biggest tournament in the world until it is working properly and consistently every time.

Have you watched the players GDS2, it is causing chaos the second anybody drops in the box or an arm is waved?

It has worked most times and I like it on the whole, but it needs fine tuning. Having half the team swamp the ref is a farce, it goes on far too long. Simple solution is having the manager with a button he presses if he wants something assessed, 3 goes per match, doesn't lose a go if it is a correct/ agreed with press. Otherwise we get absolute pandemonium and indecision with every dubious call. Killing the game as it once was. You need to nip all this protesting in the bud, it is far too extreme and persistent screaming is being rewarded, players seem to be making a lot more of incidents as well now, extreme dives, feigning worse injuries hoping for a VAR review. Coaches behaving like cheating rats.

Offsides are great for it, grappling in the box (although hit and miss), but most other things are subjective, 99% of people would not have given a penalty last night against Portugal, it was comical and took far far too long. As for the Ronaldo sending off incident, as Leahy says how can it be a yellow? Shows they don't know what they are doing.

All of us will want the game to develop, but that doesn't mean fundamentally change. As it happens now, a goal doesn;t mean a goal for 1-2 minutes after it has gone in. I'm not watching the players, I'm watching the ref! Bet I'm not the only one who feels some of the joy is being sapped out of it, it's going all American!

I just prefer the game to have error in it, it’s a human game and bound to be mistakes, football has been fine for a long time without it and that human error adds to the excitement for me. VAR as Beast said above Just takes away that joy of scoring or anything as your thinking will they review it and tbh they are reviewing and confusing there initial judgment and unable to come to a conclusion anyway, it’s all up to interpretation, doesn’t mean I’m short sighted or don’t want the game to develop I just don’t think there was anything wrong with football as it was. All will happen if players will call for a decision on everything, game will be more disrupted than ever. I don’t see why the studio refs can’t make the decision for the ref therefore game not disrupted too much and players can’t go on at the ref as wasn’t his call. As it is it’s a shambles and I don’t trally see if getting much better, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Instead of a var ref and three assistant var refs would it not be better to have just one and sit him beside a technology whizz who can work the equipment way faster than some referee can, the technology whizz would have no say in decisions he can just work the equipment faster and show the var ref, and if it's an obvious error tell the ref on the pitch .

While humans are in charge, I don't think it can ever be fine tuned or be made more consistent. I do think its made more right decisions, than not, and i suppose that's all ypu can really hope for when it comes down to human opinions.

26 Jun 2018 21:19:30
At what cost tho? Refs running off field watching love Island catch up and coming back none the wiser lol.

26 Jun 2018 22:00:44
I think it's been brilliant and will be brilliant. Too many games and competitions ruined by shoddy decisions.

27 Jun 2018 02:26:13
I'm with you angel. It will improve somewhat but it will never be perfect as there are so many grey areas and decisions based on opinions but if it helps get mite decisions right then its a good thing.

27 Jun 2018 08:12:22
I'm loving VAR it's almost comical watching the players draw a rectangular shape when they fall😆😆.
