What are everyones opinions on Scott Mctominay? Personally think he's a great player with bags of potential - yet Gary Neville thinks otherwise, ”not good enough on the ball for a united midfielder”. He did say however he sees a future for him at centre back. opinions?

Agree0 Disagree2

Early days, often youngsters don’t end up in the positions they start. I like him, very composed, plays things simple, looks good where he is atm but we will see. I like that there is little hype around him, I see him in our squad at least for many years.

Has done ok when called upon. Applies himself well never found wanting in effort. I can see him being a squad member for many years. It's up to him to become a regular starter. Lots of time for him to develop. Like Fletcher or Jessie before him.

"Great player" - not sure if your being serious or not.

Very early days got a long way to go.

I agree with Gary, not quite Utd material - should have a decent career playing for the likes of West Brom, Newcastle etc. First game looked good, but after that mainly been anonymous. In saying that you could label 75% of our team with that tag, so maybe there is more to him than I have seen. There needs to be if we aren't going to simply sign £50m+ midfielders instead of him.

Yh he's been very good whenever he doesn't have the ball at his feet. When he has to do something with the ball he's been poor.

But having said that with carrick retiring is there anyone in the squad apart from pogba and martial who are good with the ball at their feet?

Matic and herrera do their best work defensively, fellaini is deployed as a peter crouch style big man, lingard does his best stuff off the ball with his clever runs. Mata flatters to deceive reguarly, rashfords decision making is questionable and sanchez gives the ball away like its gone out of fashion.

I agree about his ability on the ball, but he has a long way to go. Has a good chance to progress if Jose stays here.

I’m a big fan and could see him being a long term successor to matic. Very good at winning the ball back, and likes a challenge. Something we haven’t had from any midfielder in a long time here.

I think he does the basics well and is very disciplined. But I do not think he will be more than a squad player. But a very useful squad player that all title winning sides need. A Darren fletcher type of squad player who works really hard and fulfils the manager’s orders. Someone that can be relied on and trusted. Fair play to the lad he has taken his chances really well. But someone like Andreas pereira for me has more talent and ability to make it at united. Problem is whether he will get a chance under Jose. And if so, does he have the mentality.

I know we bandy the phrase about far too much, but, "great' player already? I was one of his biggest fans since pre-season, but my God he's got a long way to go yet.
