Just searched for Messi on player profiles but to no avail Ed001, any chance you could do one in your spare time? Think we'd all find it hard to describe it, love the guy😅.

{Ed001's Note - I will look at doing that when I get a chance mate. Never even realised there wasn't one there, that is a big oversight!}

Big oversight is an under-statement lol, it will probably end up being the longest one you've ever done lol.

{Ed001's Note - I was just thinking I would put 'the Argentinian Salah with less pace' that covers it all....}

08 May 2018 16:24:15
Or 'Glorified Argentinian Shaqiri' lol.

{Ed001's Note - Shaqiri would get upset at the comparison. He doesn't think anyone can compare to him....}

Can you do one that includes advances in sports medicine regarding Messi ed? :)

{Ed001's Note - hahaha not sure I could without facing legal difficulties.}

08 May 2018 17:44:08
He'd probably say 'Messi is not on my level' along with the rest of the his Barcelona team-mates.

{Ed001's Note - exactly.}

Thanks Ed, your player profiles are 👌🏻.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

Ed001, interesting to hear where you sit on the Messi younger years regarding his treatments?

{Ed001's Note - I am not comfortable with him being allowed to have treatments like that and still be able to take part in competitive sport. My question is whether or not he would have been able to live a full and healthy normal life without the treatments?}

08 May 2018 19:36:11
I haven't looked up any information on it in a few years, but from what I can recall, the treatments would have been used on anyone with growth hormone deficiency (depending on whether you could afford it) . The grey area is, did they give him enough so he could live a normal life and give him a chance at being a professional sportsman. Or did they triple or quadruple his treatment and give him an advantage over kids that didn't suffer from any diseases?

I think the Messi PR machine has done well to keep his image as the good little boy who just loves playing football and not have his past hang over his head.

{Ed001's Note - exactly. He has been very lucky that Ronaldo, for all his vanity, has kept most of his life private. The comparisons between the two are often made and he has always been held up as the nice one, which has helped his image.}

Without the treatments we wouldn't have been able to witness greatness though🤔😏.

You're missing the point though Scholes. How many other technically wonderful kids didn't make the grade because of physical conditions holding them back. It's a way of doping. It may occur before he turned professional but without the steroids he took for years, he wouldn't have made it.

Im not saying it like that mumbles, just in general. Do understand the point mind.
