Chiellini was fuming, said to the Madrid players "How much did you pay for the penalty. " Madrid do seem to get an awful amount of decision their way in the CL. UEFA better off putting them straight into the final😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - was it just me or did Oliver look like he did a little skip of joy before pointing to the spot? He looked like all his xmases had come at once when he was giving it!}

Agree2 Disagree0

Pointed towards the penalty spot like he was about to fight with it😂😂😂. On a serious note Ed001, is there a 'reason👀' why Barcelona and Real get these huge refereeing decisions in big games or is it simply bad refeering coupled with luck?

{Ed001's Note - luck? I am not sure luck has anything to do with it...}

It was like he was hand picked to red it, a bad ref that fella.
But was it a penalty? Pity button didn't stay a bit calmer, might have had a chance of saving it .
Now it was a good pen from Ronaldo under that pressure.

{Ed001's Note - I doubt any keeper would have saved it.}

The refereeing seen today shows why no British referees will be at the World Cup.

You think there is any fixing involved?

11 Apr 2018 23:19:31
It was a good decision by the ref. You can't put your hands on the back of your opponent and push thst player off balance to the floor. Benatia made a mistake. Definite penalty. Feel sorry for Buffon because it was his last chance to get a Champions League winners medal but had his forward been pushed he would have been screaming for a penalty. Secondly maybe the ref could have taken a more lenient approach to Buffon complaining but then again why should he tolerate being verbally harangued like that. Buffon should have realised his team had more chance of the penalty being saved or missed if he was in goal than if he was in the stands. one last point how much worse might it have been for Madrid if Dybala had been playing?

There was absolutely no way the defender had any chance of getting that ball without going through the back. It was the only way to prevent the attacker from bringing the ball under control and having the easiest of chances. You personally might be able to sustain an argument for not giving a penalty, but one cannot fault the decision to do so either.

Ronaldo cool as a cucumber. Brilliant header to create the situation, and as good a penalty as you will ever see under intense pressure. It's a good job he wasn't that good at them when we played Chelsea in the final. We might not have had the opportunity to see JT slip and put the winner wide.

Ramos was a big loss in that defence. He is the leader back there. Buffon got the red not a nice way for his last game in Europe .
Now the ref again, I like Ronaldo but the ref could have booked him at least 3 times for diving but he didn't.

It was a clear penalty, good decision from Oliver and had to send off Buffon.

The refereeing in the city v Liverpool game on the other hand.

Michael Oliver is probably delighted because he would not need to run for another 30 minutes.

Thank God we didn't sign Kroos. The guy's a liability. It's all well and good picking a pass, but I lost count of the number of times he just let opposition midfielders run off of him.

Woeful defensively.

So was it a penalty in your opinion ed001?

{Ed001's Note - it certainly wasn't a clear penalty, I don't know how anyone can so arrogantly dismiss the rules by saying so. It is a judgement call, the defender put his hands on him but he went down like he had been shot (perhaps Harry Kane's shoulder ghosted in and smashed him to the ground on his way back from scoring that beauty for Wolves last night?) so it is just as much simulation as a penalty. It then comes down to the ref and his officials to make a judgement call, was the shove enough to cause the player to go down or did he throw himself down in an attempt to win a penalty? So it could be either way. One of those calls that sucks if they go against you but you would be annoyed if it didn't go for you. 50-50 I would say.}

12 Apr 2018 09:24:15
I though he was waiting for a touch to go down, so much so he almost forgot to play the ball .

{Ed001's Note - which I fully agree with, but the defender also gave him the excuse so it will always be all about opinion.}

We see so many terms thrown around, from tackle from behind to push in the back. Personally I believe if you make a challenge and don win the ball but get the player instead then it is a foul ergo a Penalty.
Pity a great game from Juve ended this way but sadly it did.
Would the player had scored if the defender hadn't tackled him, is another debate on its own.
If this was Utd instead of Juve I'd say we let ourselves down in the 1st leg and our defense didn't concentrate in the dying minute to let CR7 and Vasquez get into such positions, no matter how painful that admission would be.
