Just read and saw video of Liverpool supporters chanting "Munich".
I think it is fair for them to be butter but to be totally disrespectful and chanting such just shows the lack of class and distastefulness of these people. I do not think they reflect all Liverpool supporters but they should be banned for life at OT with the cooperation from Liverpool. Similarly should ManUtd supporters do any such to Liverpool they should also be banned.
We must not be disrespectful to anyone even if we are bitter rivals. What a bunch of morons.

Agree8 Disagree1

It’s a shame 666 to still see these disrespectful chants. But I did hear a small united fans chanting ‘always the victim never your fault’ on Saturday as well. It’s always a small minority on both sides that ruin it. I think it’s just crowd mentality when people get in a big group they are more likely to do things they would otherwise not do as there is less chance of them being caught (if that makes sense) . There will always be a minority who ruin it.

Park,

The 'murderers' chant is the bad one, always the victim for me is nothing to do with anything bad, I know a lot of scousers and it sums them up perfectly, so I don't think that is a bad one but just my opinion.

Tbh I am not offended by songs myself anyway and have quite a high threshold for what is offensive but I know others are and there is no place for it in the game. There will always be some numpties though, best to ignore them I find.

It cuts both ways, some United supporters bring shame on the club by making chants referencing Hillsborough.

Personally I think it just highlights the low level of intelligence and integrity of the individuals making those chants.

I agree anyone making such references during a match should be evicted from the stadiums and banned for life. However, do so is very impractical. I would be up for banning whole sections of fans if chanting comes from that section. If you knew the idiot next to you was going to get your season ticket rescinded I'm sure you'll have a word the moment he starts chanting.

Unfortunately this is something the clubs would have to do together. Which looks unlikely.

Yeh you are right there GDS forgot about the murderers one. Having seen how unsavoury and bitter the Liverpool fans have been after losing to us I actually couldn’t care less about the chants. The great thing about football crowds is the banter between the fans. That’s why although I enjoy watching rugby union, the crowds are far too tame for my liking.

Yup guys I hear you. I have mentioned it cuts both ways - for Liverpool as well as for ManUtd. Obviously it’s difficult to ban a whole section 🤣🤣. But if possible start with the “instigators “. Again for ManUtd supporters as well.
This would be a great opportunity for Liverpool and ManUtd to show solidarity against disrespectfulness and leadership from both side to eradicate such behaviors.
Hopefully there are lesser such behaviors in future although I doubt it will ever disappear sadly 🤦‍♂️.

It must be horrible for Sir Bobby, Harry Gregg and family members of victims of the Munich disaster to hear those chants. Likewise for the survivors and family of victims of Hillsborough.
It goes too far to be honest but it is a minority and, like unacceptable racist chanting, the minority is getting smaller.
Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of banter and black humour. It's part of the British psyche and we shouldn't too PC about things. But, we should be respectful.
One of the many great things about forums such as this, is that fans are discussing these sort of issues and problems and we're addressing them ourselves.
Peace and love people.

In life you will always come across idiots. Add to that rivalry and a little bit of alcohol then some "fans" don't know where to draw the line. The only saving grace is that these chants hopefully are becoming less and less. They are not worth our time and effort. You are right! Ban them. for life.

12 Mar 2018 17:42:23
A bit of banter is fine, but some people don't know when and where to draw the line
No place for that kind of nonsense.

"Always the victim" refers to Hillsborough as well, GDS2. Its just as bad.

This can be a sensitive subject. I have been going to games since the early seventies when the Munich chants and airplane motions were disgusting but very regular especially from Liverpool and City. In fact City fans would sing the Munich song to your face. It is all wrong and a boundary that should not be crossed.

I want our fans to not lower ourselves to the levels of what Liverpool and City fans did for years, just because they did it does not make it right for us to sing anything. We should rise above it and never ever sing about Hillsborough where 96 innocent human beings lost their lives, may they RIP.

Don’t shoot the messenger and I am happy to be corrected, but whilst I never sang it, I was told the vile sounding chant “murderers” was actually referring to the Heysel disaster not Hillsborough. There are some who call for justice for the 39 and say it drives that chant. Even if that was correct we don’t need to sing about any disaster.

12 Mar 2018 19:39:47
Red man, the full chant references the Sun which means hey are referring to Hillsborough and sadly it isn’t a minority, it is thousands. The club issues a state, ent about Lukaku’s manhood chant yet ignore our fans chanting disgusting songs. We are better than that and we should lead the way in publicly calling it out as unacceptable.

I remember City fans chanting Munich at a derby years ago, (Jordan scored the only goal) . Pretty dumb considering Frank Swift used to play for City. Clueless.

12 Mar 2018 19:56:10
AJH, Then it is wrong.

12 Mar 2018 22:18:51
Both sets of fans were as bad as each other on Saturday. There were A LOT of our fans singing these unsavoury chants. I agree with AJH on the club coming out and making a statement.

12 Mar 2018 23:42:19
LFC supporter in total agreement,

These crowd chants are similar to the thug behavior we see every day on the roads hiding behind their auto lock doors (Carragher! ) .

Then these same people go home and behave totally normally with family and friends.

Truly despair at humanity sometimes, particularly as eds001 educated us that after Munich, LFC offered UTD the pick of our youth team to help rebuild your team.

Go figure how its so fu now.

There was a bloke singing slums of Liverpool on the tram on the way to old Trafford on Saturday and there were families and Scousers on the tram the lads that were with him told him to give it a rest.

I'm with gds here personally I'm not that bothered both sets of fans are as bad as each other plus you will never rid the game of that element, on the other hand if I saw my son singing along he would have got a clip round the earhole!

I've been at villa games where they were chanting Munich and throwing paper aeroplanes on the pitch just goes to show how disliked we are I guess.
