City played well tonight and going forward they are really good but Basel had so NY chances to score too. Liverpool proved City are beatable. Will be interesting to see how they do against a really top top champions league team. The thing is that Madrid are in crisis, Juve have a lot of old legs, PSG are untested at the highest level and Atletico have had a difficult season and I don't think they are at the level of thir past few seasons. So that just leaves Barcelona and the English teams who might provide a test. Only Spurs I think could really compete over two legs with them. We concede too easily and are not at our best. It really could be City's season.

Hendon. I said this last year when people were making a joke out of city and Pep. And I tipped them to win the league very easily. The point is pep plays to a system that works. It is a system that has won many championships and cups at Barcelona. Now he's built a younger squad that do exactly what Barcelona do. If one is injured then another replaces him and does the job perfectly as they are drilled into the system. I also think that they concentrate more on making good openings and hence they score easy goals a lot of the time. Lastly, they work hard at keeping the ball and hard at getting it back.
I hate City with a vengeance. But I'm not blinkered into thinking that their bubble is going to burst like some on here have been suggesting.
I have zero confidence in mourinho, his tactics and his man management skills. I think we'll be playing 3rd and 4th fiddle for years to come unless the club finally wake up and appoint a manager that fits the United mould of attacking football. I can think of three obvious ones.

14 Feb 2018 08:53:52
Who are those three?

14 Feb 2018 09:34:36
Many on here don't rate but pep has again shown he is the best about.

I think city has installed themselves as favourites to win the champions league. This year is perhaps the most open competition in years with real struggling and Barcelona not as strong as in the past. I wouldn’t look past Bayern though. Heynckes has done really well since coming in. It’s so frustrating because if we can sort ourselves out we could be dark horses. But I think as soon as we come up against a top quality team we will come unstuck. Interesting to see what happens. But your right jred, pep is the best manager in the world, even if he has spent a truck load. He’s got city playing in a certain way and is ruining teams at will. Frightening times tbh and looks like they may dominate for a while.

14 Feb 2018 10:46:30
He isn't the best until he wins the champions league with city and wins title after title, he is a top coach but not the best around.

14 Feb 2018 11:28:20
I don't think theyd be dominant for a while and i don't think anyone will be . Next year his players will be much more tired b3cause of running around this year.

For them to dominate they will have to improve becauause United and the rest will be certainly improving.

Where can city improve, even if they buy 5 new players but there is only 11 players allowed on the pitch at one time and if he does buy 5 new starters then the curr3nt players wuch as sterling, de bruyne, sane, aguero and co wouldn't be happy sitting on the bench or rotate especially after performing the way they are this year.

14 Feb 2018 11:56:49
If he wins the league this year it will be 7 titles in 9 seasons in 3 different leagues.

Who's better?

14 Feb 2018 12:01:14
Barcelona haven't lost a league game all season . and are even showing signs of trying to defend.

14 Feb 2018 12:27:33
Champions league is a different story to la liga jred. I would put city, Bayern and PSG above Barcelona to win it. But you can never rule out Barcelona with Messi. Only thing about city is their defence is still suspect. Liverpool showed this and the other top teams will have a chance if they can finish their chances. Something Basel didn’t do last night when they did have some. Thought gundogan was quality and seems to have got over his injury problems. Very classy player.

14 Feb 2018 12:54:43
Its easy to win in a 2 horse league like Spain or a 1 horse league like Germany where your club buy the best players of anyone who challenges. I think most coaches would be top of the league with that squad and cheque book.

I'll say he's got them playing very well. Its just a shame its City. Any other side than them, apart from Liverpool and he would get more praise. He has made it look easy.

14 Feb 2018 13:01:13
So who's better mort . You told me all summer pep was overrated and would be found out .
But tell me again who's better?

14 Feb 2018 13:02:34
Bayer are very up and down I would take barce over them .
Been impressed with barce this season.

14 Feb 2018 13:25:13
1) Currently he is on par with Jose.

2) in terms of pasr achievements and titles Jose is the best in the world.

3) Like Mort said he is lucky to have managed in munich and Barcelona as it is very easy to win titles over there.

4) The reason he is ripping the league apart is because our players are under performing and he bought a brand new team where as Jose had to ship out a lot of players he inherited from V. Gaal. i wouldn't mention Moyes because he hardly bought anyone.

5) Pep in herited a team that won the league 2 years before he came in but Jose in herited after few years of under performing and taming over Fergies team which wasnt really full of superstars rather ageing players.

6) its easier to play attacking football then playin jose's style as you need a lot of team cohesion and discipline, just look at our last few games to see what i mean.

Finally i would put my hands up if Guardiola wins the title this year and repats it next year and also wins the champions league in his time here at city then i will say he is better then jose otherwise he simply isn't the best around but just having a top top season like Conte last year.

14 Feb 2018 15:48:12
So who is better than him? His teams plays the best brand of football I have seen .
His Barcelona team was the club team I have seen. And his city team are probably playing the best footy in Europe.
So at the moment who is a better manager than pep.

14 Feb 2018 16:55:48
At the moment he is on par with jose as the two best in the world but joses team isn't performing to the level of Peps.

But on a grander scheme of things he is below Jose interms oh what he shouldve achieved with Bayern and what he actually achieved.

He took over a treble winning Bayern and left them in very bad shape he couldn't beat the best when it came to champions league football.

14 Feb 2018 17:07:14
He won 3 straight titles at Munich.
How did Jose leave Chelsea?

14 Feb 2018 17:30:39
Strange way to judge him isn't it lol lol lol.

14 Feb 2018 17:32:23
Jose left Chelsea in good shape did they not win the league the year before he left and then again the year after he left. He left his last club in better ahape than he took his next one that's for sure.

14 Feb 2018 17:55:06
Jose left chelsea 3 points above relegation .

14 Feb 2018 22:54:46
That wasnt joses fault its the players that perform on the pitch so it was all to do with Hazard and co not playing well in joses third season.
