Ahoy boys, girls and alternative genders The Maze hopes you are all doing well and keeping your spirits up in the face of bleak Jose Mourinho football. It was this season United were supposed to challenge for the title right?
It came to The Maze’s attention that Jose is in dialogue with the hierarchy because he believes more funds are needed because he cannot buy the league with what he has already spent. Is this guy for real?
It seems that Pep is once again teaching Jose how to win but play attractive entertaining football at the same time. It would not be a surprise to see Chelsea and co leapfrog United as the usual Jose meltdown is due - even his child like cringing attacks on Conte are not amusing.
To some I have no doubt second place will be deemed a triumph, heck throw in mediocre trophy and some would vote him into parliament. Do not be a fool, this has been no title challenge and Pep is laughing at Jose’s inadequacy.

Any other season we'd be top or very close with our points tally, and we've still got the CL to play for, winning it will be difficult but anything can happen over 2 legs.
City are simply too good for everyone else in the PL this season. Yes, we should be closer, but at some point we will need to tip our hat to them rather than point fingers internally.
We should be getting behind the players and manager, and regardless of what people think of Jose, the squad is in better shape now than when he took over from LVG. My view is we are a few players away from challenging on all fronts next season. Let's see.

Nope, it was next year we were meant to challenge. This year was always about top three (and a POTENTIAL challenge) . We are exactly where I expected us to be. Patience.

Has it escaped Maze's attention that Pep himself has spent an absolute fortune and paid close to £130m on three new full backs alone?
Just remind me what Pep won last year? Their defending was calamitous at times and I didn't see them winning many plaudits for their style of football. Pep inherited a much better squad and has spent more money improving that squad. Do not be fooled or undervalue the importance of money and the support of a board that give you everything your heart desires.
