Serious question, I read this morning that Jose is being lined up by PSG. Do we think we can keep him - if not, who do we see as a potential next manager? I would have said Pochettino, but I can't see him leaving Spurs?

Agree0 Disagree3

07 Nov 2017 11:03:57
Giggs is still available.

07 Nov 2017 11:15:51
Do we want to keep him?

I don't think his heart is in it here, so maybe the PSG thing will work out perfectly for all parties. Maybe the Monaco manager (Leonardo Jardim) have a read of his Wiki if you don't know much about him. Or some other up and coming attack minded manager, we have gone down the so called "world class" route, maybe time to try somebody with fresh ideas that could commit 100% to the club and bring back the gung-ho attacking spirit we have lacked for too long.

I agree that Poch maybe too difficult at the minute, missed that boat. But money talks.

07 Nov 2017 11:16:47
Moyes is only on a 6 month contract.

07 Nov 2017 11:19:11
Seem to be doing well PSG u would have to wonder why they would want to change there manager.

07 Nov 2017 13:10:14
That's the thing tho. We've tried British manager. Failed. We've tried experienced veteran. Failed. Altho managed a cup and top 4. We've tried arguably best manager around. Won 2 cups yet people want him axed. Where do we go and how long is he going to have?

07 Nov 2017 13:21:30
Be very careful what you wish for Beast! You have been warned! Give him time, the blokes a winner, his style will improve once his has built the team he wants I'm sure of it!

07 Nov 2017 13:35:31
The reports are worrying I must say. Agree with Danny with be careful what we wish for. Another bad appointment could set us back years. With all the money and competition now in the league we don’t want to be left behind. I think Jose has done well to re-establish us to some extent, it’s just city are very good this year that things seem worse than they actually are. Any other season we would be top and would be very happy. If Jose goes do you guys think the club may revisit the allegri option again? Looks like he could be ready to make that step into the prem. other options of course Poch but he is unattainable. Ancelotti is available but I’m not so sure. Sarri of Napoli and as beast mentioned Jardim would be left field choices. Napoli are a fantastic team on the eye and sarri has done very well there. I think though we need to keep Jose at least to the end of his contract and back him because we will win trophies in his tenure. He has my backing and once pogba is back I think we will see an upturn in performances and atmosphere around the club at the moment.

07 Nov 2017 14:02:19
Giggs will always be available until he pulls his head out of his arse and takes a job at a smaller club and proves himself.

I hope we don't lose Jose as finding another manager more season and having to do so unexpectedly makes finding the right person almost impossible.

Maybe what we should take from this is one of the top teams in the world values our manager, maybe we should to.

07 Nov 2017 14:02:38
Ancelotti.

07 Nov 2017 14:06:43
Ancelotti because he's not a t*sser like Mourinho and will bring some much needed good vibes and harmony to Man Utd.

Second, he's a proven winner with loads of experience at big clubs and in the Premier League.

Third, he plays attractive, attacking football and is flexible with his approach to get the best out of the players he has at his disposal.

Fourth, he makes good pizza.

07 Nov 2017 15:24:09
Talkin like Jose is definitely a goner. What is going on?

07 Nov 2017 15:56:40
Apart from Moyes who I disliked full stop, I've never had a manager in the last 47 years I felt so ambiguous about as JM - pleased with the trophys, pleased he has given us a semblance of stability, pleased we look top 4 material again more than we have for 3 years, but if he upped and left tomorrow i wouldn't be arsed. The football is not great (appreciating its not yet his team) but the basics would be there for someone coming in . The fella isn't that likeable, although he could be a nice bloke who knows?

I like ancelotti, I like Simone, Poch won't come yet if ever but maybe we will see a DOF in the near future . Either way for it to even be a discussion point after 16 months is odd if not worrying.

07 Nov 2017 16:07:36
is Mourinho the real problem here? i somehow think Ed Woodward is the bigger problem.

07 Nov 2017 16:08:13
It’s just my opinion, but I don’t think Jose is 100% sold on United, and I don’t think the United board are 100% sold on Jose being at United. It seems more of a relationship of convenience than anything else in that both possibly need each other, but don’t want each other.

Unless the board ‘back’ Jose 100% (by back I don’t just mean financially, they need to make him feel loved) then I can see him walking away or being pushed at the end of the season.

Is there anyone out there better suited who is available? Are the club secretly trying to get a more suitable replacement in? I guess we’ll soon find out.

07 Nov 2017 16:23:16
Good post Park!

For me we need a period of stability. Results trump style every day of the week in my opinion.

Are we really that bad to watch? Every team has periods in the season when they don't play well.

Jose is pragmatic, we probably won't see us really attack another top 6 side (especially away from home) until he's built a team he trusts.

Most games have been relatively entertaining this season. We've suffered since Pogba got injured but hopefully he'll be back soon. I don't mind defensive performances against the better teams as long as we attack and have a go against the perceived smaller Clubs which is pretty much what we've seen this season.

Park hit the nail on the head the form and swagger of City is making everybody else look ordinary by comparison. Traditionally they have a dip over winter so let's just wait and see where we are come the New Year.

A top 3 finish and good cup runs would represent good progress in my book. If we can address the obvious deficiencies in the summer and maybe add that real jewel in the crown a la Hazard, Sanchez, Greizmann type, somebody to support Lukaku and can get us between 15-20 leagues goals I see no reason why we can't mount a serious challenge both at home and in Europe next year!

07 Nov 2017 17:50:56
Good post Danny. People go on about Simeone but his teams are ultra defensive and 10x more boring to watch than Jose's. People are complaining now about our style then there will be even more kick offs if Simeone were appointed. He is great at what he does but it is a no thanks from me. I hope that Jose signs on as I am a fan but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

07 Nov 2017 20:32:00
A lot of what is being banded around is rightly on the back of City's form. I'll have it but I wouldn't be too sure about this winter dip. Leicester and Chelsea more or less had it won from here the last two seasons

The start got a lot of people exited, I for one was rather more pragmatic, to go from 6th to Champions was never on the cards for me and I firmly believe he didn't get all the signings he wanted this summer. there's even talk and I emphasise the word talk, about a big January window coming up.

I don't see City doing a Newcastle 1996 from here, so top four is still the goal for us. Personally I think we are about as good as Liverpool and Arsenal at the minute and it will be a fight between the 3 for 4th spot. I may get maligned for this but I don't think I'm far off the mark with it.

I, as a United fan will settle for a trophy a season, any trophy, last year we got 2. Our dominance is over now but I agree progress and continuity is the key objective. Top 4 and a bonus pot of some description would do me fine this year.

07 Nov 2017 21:12:14
I can't believe this is being discussed!

07 Nov 2017 21:38:47
Well balanced post Moston I can't argue with much of that to be honest!

I think your right about the run away leaders. Whilst the league should be (in theory) the most competitive it has been in years, in recent seasons one team has managed to put a run of results together whilst all the others have struggled for any real consistency. It looks like it might be the same this year as well.

I think we're probably a bit better than Liverpool and Arsenal but I don't think there's much between us Chelsea and Spurs. I expect us to finish in the top 3 .

If people can stomach the defensive displays I think we'll have a decent run in the Champions League providing we keep our key players fit. I don't think we have anything to fear and We'll be a tough nut to crack over two legs, most teams won't fancy playing us.

As I've said earlier we need a good summer window and I fully expect to see a serious title challenge next season.

07 Nov 2017 23:24:00
Chelsea went from 10th to champions so I fail to see the point.

Jose in the past has always bigged up United and it was well known he was always interested in the job. He looks like a guy who took a job on but it wasn't really the job that was pitched to him.

I've always beleived you can read Jose like a book. When he's happy he's clean shaved, suited and booted etc. When he's down its unshaven and tracksuits.

Now he's come to A club he's always admired and he's clearly unhappy about something.

In terms of the future. Alegri would be my choice with a director of football too.

08 Nov 2017 09:43:07
Liverpool, Huddersfield and chelsea he played cagey football also at Southampton but got away with it we got 4 points out of 12 if we played a more attacking game do you think we would get more than 4 I think we would . We set out to defend at 0-0 and not try to attack sometimes we might win 1-0 mostly we'll draw or lose.

08 Nov 2017 09:58:50
Agree with most of that James. Beginning of the season we were playing well and he was suited and booted and we all thought he’d turned a corner. But now he is back in his trackies. Rumours we will look to go big in January and I would not be surprised to be honest. We really miss that world class player such as hazard/ Sanchez player that can take the game by the scruff of the neck and make something out of nothing.

Chelsea were champions the year before they came 10th and simply downed tools so I think it’s harsh to judge this team with that team. Most of our players have never won a premier league and I think that it speaks volumes. Allegri would definitely be top of my list but I think we just have to get our injured players back and put our heads down and go on a run through this crucial winter period. Titles can be won and lost during this period and there is no more room for dropping points.
