All these great amazing world-class players people told me all summer Madrid had .

Teams more important than the individual .
If Madrid win nothing this year are all there players not good enough.

Agree6 Disagree6

01 Nov 2017 21:47:02
But wouldn't you rather have their less defensive style?

01 Nov 2017 22:07:48
There were some strange results tonight but it's great to see Ramos throwing his toys out of the pram.

There doesn't look to be a standout team this year, I guess PSG are the ones to beat right now but they haven't been tested yet.

01 Nov 2017 22:33:36
I think they need 3 David De Geas never mind one with defending like that dear me 🙈🙈🙈.

01 Nov 2017 22:40:31
They are back to back champions league winners, of course people are going to call their players world class.

02 Nov 2017 00:47:16
It's a team that achieved what no other team has managed its a team when all available is full of world class players and win 3 of last 4 cl. Even world class players have dips and confidence issues. Well done to spurs they were great tonight. Maybe zidane should have called jose for advice. Great results for epl teams so far bar the chelsea results.
Winning our group we could draw madrid let's hope the slump in form continues but i doubt it will for long.
Zidane made an error imo by not bringing in some top fresh blood. Always a good time to improve and bring fresh competition and avoid complacency is when your on top. 3 or 4 years now with essentially the same team perhaps its a bit stale at the moment.

Watched city last night, very good pep has got them playing very well.
Delph at lb had another very good game .
Could do a Moses this year and be an un fancied player who finds a place in the team .
Stones has been good as well .
Sterling knocked in his 10th goal of the season

Pep has All them individuals playing well and as a team .

02 Nov 2017 08:13:43
Should also say napoli are a good team to watch.

Madrid are slowly coming towards the end of their cycle. Whilst Ronaldo is still an amazing player his superhuman achievements are just starting to decline. Make no mistake despite all the excellent players in their squad he made the difference just like Messi does for Barca. I totally agree with Ken it is was a mistake not to invest in the summer, they have rested on their laurels and are possibly suffering from a slight lack of motivation without any new blood to give them fresh impetus and increase competition for places. Their first 11 virtually picks itself when everybody is fit. They even sold Morata without replacing him!

I can't believe they didn't sign the likes of Pogba and Mbappe and even more surprising is they appear to have been out bid for both which would have been unheard of a few years ago!

The balance of power is slowly shifting away from the big three of recent years Barca, Madrid and Bayern in my opinion.

In the premier league we now have the best coaches in world football at the top clubs, Pep, Jose, Conte, Potch, Klopp and most with big money to spend. We really are in a golden era and should all enjoy this time. If they all stay in their respective jobs for the next few years it won't be long until we see English sides consistently making the semi's and finals of the Champions League with the likes of PSG in my opinion.

02 Nov 2017 09:08:34
I think your right there, it looks (fingers crossed ) the next cycle is starting to come .
Messi like Ronaldo papers over a lot of cracks, always reading on here no United players would get in the barce or Madrid team but there are some average individuals in both teams especially at the back in defence .
They hide or get carried along by the very good players and the likes of Messi and Ronaldo who take a team to another level .
Take some of them players out the Madrid barce team I don't think they would look anywhere near as good .

Credit to spurs beat Madrid 4.2 over 2 legs.

02 Nov 2017 09:23:50
Wow jred. You must have missed real over the last 2 years. Have a look at what they won.

Yeah, decent players 🤣.

02 Nov 2017 09:53:43
Some very very good players but not the 22 world-class players people would have you believe

Very good team but team as always is the word .
People always seem to judge a player by the team he plays in and how the team plays .
Look at the Monaco team, would people be having wet dreams over fabinho like they where last year if Monaco never had mbappe and co a bit like they haven't now?

United got beat by Madrid only a couple of month ago go and read some of the embarrassing post on here at the time .
Watch delph at the moment or Moses last season and read all the post on here about we can't win the league with out a new lb or rb .

Watch sterling playing in a great team at the moment and read post that we need to spend 200 mill on a fancy wide player (Big name) or that martial isn't that good?

02 Nov 2017 10:14:05
Totally agree Jred and Spurs have made Madrid look relatively ordinary over the two games. Whilst Spurs do play good football I think their strength predominantly comes from their defensive unit and in the two games against Madrid they have simply defended better and have had the quality up front to hurt Madrid.

Bringing me back to Utd a lot has been made of our style or perceived lack of it! I believe that all teams should be built from the back, giving the platform for the more creative players to play. I actually like Jose's style, I respect a well disciplined, well organised, professional team where everybody knows their job!

In terms of Utd I think we're still a team in a process, but like Fergi, Jose has found a way to make us competitive whilst still building the jigsaw. I agree with Paul Scholes's recent comments that we're still a real quality No 10 away from being a world class unit. Miki and Mata both have undoubted quality but have lacked consistency, which should be better given their ages and experience. I'm not entirely convinced that Jose is completely happy with any of the front 3 behind Lukaku. Rashford and Martial obviously have talent but will Jose be around long enough for them to reach a level of consistency that he desires?

I think over the next few windows we'll look to add some real quality in those positions and with that I'm convinced we'll see more attractive, attacking football. Don't forget Fergi could be the ultimate pragmatist at times. He often turned to Fletcher and Park in big games and he left Tevez, Berbatov and Scholes on the bench in a Champions League final in failed attempt to add energy and numbers in midfield against a Barcelona team that had YaYa Toure at CB. Just saying!

Jose has turned OT into a fortress again and isn't it significant that home games like the other night against Benfica just seem routine?

I really hope we tie him down to another contract. Whilst I don't expect him to be here long term I'd love to see him battle Pep both at home and in Europe over the next few years!

02 Nov 2017 10:18:33
I know what you are saying. But I don't believe anybody was saying 22 world class players. That is never he case in any team.

But they achieved some incredible feats over the last number of years. Many of their players warrant the tag 'world class'.

I know you like an 'I told you so' but you really are off the mark on that one.

02 Nov 2017 10:25:28
Angle yes there where pal .
Only 1 pogba maybe 2 players bailly would get in the Madrid squad.
Casemero was world-class?
There wing backs where world class.

Is it I told you so or a case reading day after day how our players aren't good enough and all these other players are amazing .
Slag your own drool over everyone else

Great post pal.

02 Nov 2017 10:33:09
I think the point is that it is up to the Manage to get the best out of his players, Zidane did it last year as did Conte and we can see Pep starting to turn Delph into a decent plate.

Jose is renowned for improving players, this is what we need to see and what will make all the difference.

02 Nov 2017 10:48:59
About sums it up.

02 Nov 2017 13:01:05
Sorry jerd, I don't know what you mean with 'Slag your own drool'.

I know where you are coming from but personally I don't say Real have 22 world class players, that's just an overstatement. But I can acknowledge that they have some world class players. 3 UCL's in 4 years. Pretty incredible if you ask me.

Last night's game is not a fair reflection of the IMO.

I just felt it was trying to be 'I told you so' again. It's unbecoming of you jred, that's all.

02 Nov 2017 16:40:00
Ajh hit the nail on the head.

02 Nov 2017 21:32:59
To be fair Jred, it's Jose who wanted a shiny new winger (Perisic), not us. And I think Jose it far better placed than you to decide what we need. Don't you? It's Jose that also wants Danny Rose. So I don't understand the criticism of people on this site, they are simply seeing the gaping holes that Jose can see, that you clearly don't.

03 Nov 2017 07:27:02
Syd. I don't think that's the point. Shaw was an England international but allegedly he and Jose are no longer on speaking terms. Darmian is an Italian international who is in and out of our team. It's not as easy as saying we need better players, we need to improve the ones we have.

With Jose it seems to his way or the highway which is quite an outdated approach. He should be looking at Shaw and asking "how do I get the best out of this kid" whereas what he seems to do is criticise publicly (not just Shaw) .

I think we have a very strong tr and a strong squad who are not playing to their potential. Rather than just keep buying players we need to get them to play to their potential.

03 Nov 2017 16:55:26
AJH - I agree with that. All of that. I like Shaw but he's always injured. There are things Jose wants to do and I can see why. Mata lacks speed where he is playing. We need a regular LB. But agree we have a good squad. Just two positions away from great I think. Anyway, have a great weekend guys.
