Mhkitaryan is abit hit and miss in my opinion. He does score goals and provide assists but his form varies from game to game. Inevitably he goes missing. The Liverpool game for example where Mhkitaryan was pretty much invisible. When he's good he's good but when he's bad he's bad. There's no happy medium.
The Liverpool game is perhaps a difficult game to judge him on due to Mourinho's negative tactics.

Miki is an attacking player. if we play to attack he is great but like many against Liverpool we were restricted because we played so defensive.

If we would have pushed up a little more and squeezed the wingers we may have had a more entertaining game.

But a point away is not so bad. We will need to improve if we plan to go to Chelsea and play like this.

Bolger - Exactly and the most pointless thing of all is although it ended 0.0, Liverpool had good chances to score. So shutting up shop only worked because Liverpool were toothless, not because our negative game-plan was full proof.

Sydney that's a bit harsh. Liverpool really only had one genuine chance and that too came off a poor pass from one of our players.

Not really Shan, they got into good positions a few times but couldn't find a player. Couple times ball whizzed along the six yard box. Emre Can had a good chance. Then there were a couple headers which they really should have done better with. Salah chance, Matip chance.

It's us that had one chance mate.

Was southampton performance from mkhi also down to mourinho's tactics, i hope he gets dropped atleast for the big away games, he can't keep the ball with any regularity, when he is not assisting or scoring he is giving the ball away that's how inconsistent he is, his stats paper over a lot of the rubbish performances he has put in this season, i don't think we can say he has played really well for 90 mins in any game yet he has more assists than most of our players in whole of last season, but when there is no end product like against southampton or liverpool you can see how much of a liability he is on the pitch.

Micky has been quite underwhelming for me this season, his assist stats don't really tell the fully story of how he's played.

He gives the ball away too much and his obsession with nutmegging players can be quite frustrating.

Hopefully we can get mata back in the team and both of them can link up as that's normally when we play our best stuff.

Dsg your right. Miki plays much better when pgba and mata are tgere to play with him they are mire on his wavelength.
That said i said before the game last week that miki has never shone in a 100mph game. In fact most his best displays have come in european games.
He still has a lot to prove imo. Would mata do better as the 10? Personally i think mata would do at least as well and probably be more consistent in the ten position as miki does.

Definitely needs competition in that position, I think if Perisic came in like Jose wanted, then Mata and Miki would be fighting it out for that position.

Is Mkhitaryan the new Nani? Fantastic on his day, but lacks consistency.

17 Oct 2017 19:28:16
Maybe, Nani did turn up in some big games though. He too had many assists. I think like Kagawa Mikhitaryan suits certain games to others. He's a very good player, but not consistent enough to be that level above as yet. We'll see.

Maybe Miki is the new fellaini .
People seem to need have someone to blame if we don't win every game.

17 Oct 2017 23:02:56
Im certainly not blaming him for us not winning on sat. I'm saying that he is a little inconsistent. He has played really well in big European games and some league games but he had not gout to grips yet and had not performed well in the really high tempo 100mph games. He just hasn't found his rhythm in those matches. I'd look to him for more goals also.
On his day he is great but on an off day he can look veey average.
What i do really admire about him is that he always wants the ball and is always looking forward trying to make something happen.
He links well with mata and pogba and their movement give him targets and create space for him.
On saturday he had no targets and no movement ahead of him even the great Messi wiuld struggle with nine team mates behind him for 90 mins.
Id rather see miki and mata rotate at 10 and play martial left and rash on the right in our current preferred shape. Jessie can rotate either side.
I think both have won the right to start.
