I was thinking about City's team selection against Watford and how that would translate with our own squad.

Pep picked a midfield of Ferdandinho, Silva and de Bruyne. The front line was Jesus, Aguero and Sterling. City were the away team!

To my mind that would be like a Utd front six of Pogba, Mata and Mikki in midfield with Martial, Lukkaku and Rashford up front; Wow!

Would people like to see a similar approach at Utd against the so called lesser teams? I would, especially at home.

Pogba would not be suited to that, he dosent have the discipline to do what Fernandinho does and he's too good to sit on the bench.

Fernandinho is a sitting type of player just like Matic. I've also noticed that Matic does get forward when he gets a chance.

At the moment Pogba isn't available. Even if you substitute Matic for Pogba in that line up it's still really creative and full of goals.

Pep even plays with attack minded full backs as well. I think he might be the new Kevin Keegan.

MancMan, no! the correct "like for like" setup for Man utd would be in Midfield "Matic, Pogba and Miki and in attack "lukaku, Rash, mata/ martial" Matic being the fernandinho, Pogba now begining to express himself more will be our silva and miki is kdb as simple as that.

Forwards, are self explanatory.

Now in all fairness to Jose, that's the team he has been putting out anyway in the premier league and while mata ain't sterling and lukaku isn't quite where aguero is (although not for long i hope), the signs are there for all to see and some the plays this season have given me a lot of optimism.

I don't blame you for getting a bit worried with the noisy neighbors and i'll advise you not to because city's got a lot of problems of their own. I'd suggest, humbly, to enjoy, panic, yell, gasp and then enjoy some more the roller-coaster greatness on display at Old Trafford.

Raconteur, I'm not worried about City; I'm just admiring their self belief and resulting team choices. Playing Silva and De Bruyne as central midfielders along with full backs who attack is highly unusual. I can't think of any other teams whose line up is so offensive. Obviously it moves the emphasis away from their weaknesses in defence.

I'll accept that Ferdandinho is more like Matic but Mata is definately a more similar player to Silva than Pogba and Rashford compares to Sterling.

I don't believe they will line up like that against stronger teams but it's good for football that they are prepared to put so much attacking talent on the pitch all at once. The derby is a long way off yet so let's see how it continues to work out for them.

Is it down to a lack of central midfielders of the required quality though manc why he's setting up this way, yaya has been frozen out, gundagon is another Hargreaves. He's not exactly littered with options in the middle of the park. Jose has got this bang on, addressed the spine first and foremost in the previous windows, in the next two windows he will add the final pieces of the jigsaw and I think we are a force to be reckoned with in all competitions.
