I thought we did okay last night. The Super cup is just a UEFA equivalent to the community shield. It's a glorified friendly. That being said I felt Real Madrid wanted it far more than we did. Even then if we were a little more clinical we could have got a draw or even a win. Lukaku, Pogba and Rashford all had very good chances to score. If we scored two out of those three we would have won.

We need to consider that Real Madrid are currently the best team in the world, the first team to win back to back top European cups in the UCL era.

I honestly don't feel any of the teams currently in the EPL would have done much better.

There are concerns, but they were there before last nights game.

We don't look very strong in the full back area and Real kept getting crosses into our box.

Lindelof just needs time to settle, not every signing hits the ground running. As already mentioned both Vidic and Evra had shakey starts to their United careers. He needs a settled defence around him. Something he obviously hasn't had in a handful of pre season warm up games. Also most CB's will struggle playing alongside Smalling. Bailly certainly looked better last season when partnered with Jones, Rojo or even Blind than he did alongside Smalling.

The real test will be in the season opener against West Ham.

Far too sensible Shappy, we're domed, 5th at best, nothing has changed in the las 3 years, blah, blah, blah.

Who is going to win the league, I keep getting told united can't (unless we buy a RB) but who is going to win it.
I think we have a great chance, really hard to call but no team is perfect.

U buy a squad but you build a team.

'5th at best' is my favourite line from the crystal ballers after only watching a pre-season!

Great post Shappy, all about being ready for Sunday for me, last night was a bonus.

Honestly think we have a great chance to win the league this season.

The over reaction to last night is embarrassing. Driving in to work this morning and I heard fans writing off our season before it's even started.
Admittedly we weren't at our best last night but we weren't that bad. Real played the ball about well and we struggled but the fact that we were needing drinks breaks tells you the conditions weren't great.
Lindelof needs time to settle. Matic looks like he's been here for years and Lukaku will get goals. Yeah he should've buried the rebound from Pogba's effort but he got his goal and will do so in the PL.
The games that we drew last season will be turned into wins this season and we'll be right up there challenging.

It makes me laugh how all the pundits are saying mourinho must deliver this season after all the money he has spent yet saint pep never gets a mention.

I think City will win the league and we will give them a run for their money but will come up short. City have addressed a lot of things that needed fixing to play a certain way. I know people question walkers transfer fee but he will be big addition to that team and Bernardo silva is a magician with the ball. Defensively they will be much better and offensively they will be scary and i predict a lot games where they will score 5 or 6 goals. The brazilian forward jesus will have a great season and will not be surprised if he ends up top scorer.

Chelsea and arsenal will round up top 4 Imo. Spurs lack of buying will bite them as injuries will take their toll on that squad.

We need 2 more signing but doubt will see any more.

I thought the same last season .
You could make a case for a lot of teams imo, apart from united if u read this page.
We have a top gk best in the league imo.
Tony was as good as anyone in the league last year .
Bailly was the best in the league last year needs a partner, people have been raving about lindelof all summer, I hope Jones stays fit .
Lb is an issue .
Midfield . Everyone told me pogba was the special players match winner, the lad is a talent but needs to work harder that said a combo of matic herrera and pogba plus options of miki mata perrie and the wig should work.
I think lukaku will score goals but miki and martial need to step up this year . Rash is getting better and better .
We have as good a chance as any, for some reason people think every other teams players will all play great, .

Can't finish top 4, worse squad in 20 year, need to buy buy buy? .

Jose just needs to do his job and we will be there or there about but it's hard to call tough tough league this year.

10 straight wins from the start for me this season 😆😆.

I think the league is wide open.

We have improved our spine, we have a more mobile striker who should help our attack be more dynamic. Matic should give us midfield domination over most teams and Lindelof solves us not having a reliable centre back who can play out from the back. In an ideal world we would bring in a couple of full backs but no team is perfect.

City have out spent us and have brought in some great players. I'll say it now Mendy will prove to be their best signing. I like Bernardo Silva but I think we probably won't see the best of him until next season. I think he will need time to settle into the league which is far more physical than he is used to. I also think he has some great players in competition with him for a starting place with his name sake Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling, Sane ect. I still think they will be weak defensively, at CB they look weak and I'm not yet convinced by Ederson in goal.

Chelsea have only replaced players and not increased the size of possibly the quality of their squad. Morata replaces Costa and Bakayoko replaces Matic, while Rudiger comes in for Terry. Are these players significant up grades? It's to be seen. But there squad isn't any bigger yet they will have many more games this year.

Arsenal have signed quite well, still short a CB and a dominant midfielder. But aren't they always.

Spurs have signed no one as yet and lost one of their better players in Walker. Until they start recruiting it's hard to judge where they will be.

Liverpool have signed Salah who looks good, but he didn't look great last time he was in the EPL. They still have a weak defence and questionable goalkeepers. Plus they will now have to contend with European football. Their squad looks a little thin on quality and numbers. Plus they will likely lose Coutinho. How they replace him will be key to how they do this season.

Everton look like they are ready to pounce, some very good signings and one of the best managers in the league. Will be interesting to see how they cope without Lukaku's goals, if they can replace them then they could be dark horses this year.

In short we have as much chance as everyone else to win the league.

Jred, there are fans of all teams who for some reason or another cannot see the quality in their team. I think squad depth we have a decent squad. One or two areas need looking at, but all in all this is a good side. For me we need to get the confidence high, especially at OT. We have a good chance this year at the title. Chelsea and Liverpool will find it harder with European football this season. It's much easier to play just one game a week. Arsenal will lose their best player by far, hopefully to PSG. (Not City) . City will need to gel, but will be faves I think. Spurs have Wembley to contend with, can go either way. I think they need a couple additions too. So why not? Why aren't we in the running? I'm with you on this one, we are in with a good chance and a couple more signings and we could be faves. let's see.

I believe we will challenge but we lack that creative player in midfield who can orchestrate things and weak on the right side going forward.

I think city has gone about their business this window better than anyone else and are raring to go. I think they are too much for anyone going forward and have shored up things at the back.

All in all not a doomsdayer at all and will be disappointed if we are not challenging but believe we are short of a few players when it counts. Great squad but lacks that bit of flair and an architect and balance.

I know what your saying pal but rash could make the right his own, miki should kick on Shaw could find some form same goes for Jones. Pogba might pull his finger out . people keep talking about a special player it should be him
Not every city player will do well, they still relie on komp at cb and look soft at cm .

Which ever team can stay fit avoid injuries and get the best out of the team will win it .
No idea who that will be.
