With the signing of a winger still on the agenda and the Perisic deal seemingly still dragging on would anyone take a chance of Shaqiri of Stoke?

I seen a bit of him in pre-season and his touch is incredible. It looks like he is fit and strong. There is something about his technique I cannot put my finger on similar to that of Berbatov. He is 25 years old and seems to have matured.

I don't think he is the type of player to step up another level against the major teams but United have expensive players like Pogba and Lukaku for that. Against smaller teams though I believe he can be a weapon to open up tight games. How many points did United drop against lesser opposition last season?

Again I have no intel and no mates who knows his mum I just feel he is a potentially special player who is flying under the radar.

We have a goal scoring problem and you want us to sign a guy who scored 4 goals in epl last season.

He is more than a decent player and has shown in parts that he is very technical but he went to the wrong team with stoke.

Based in his overall time in the prem he's not done gteat but as i said he's at the wrong team.

Good shout for tge right price MAZE.

{Ed001's Note - seriously? He is crap and injury prone. Lazy. Not the wrong team just a player who won't put the effort in. The guy is not a team player.}

The comparison to berbatov is apt in that neither put/ s much effort in when the ball is in their own half. The fact that we seem to be looking at wide players that work hard no matter what direction the ball is heading tells me that shaqiri is a non starter suggestion without even going into his ability.

Sorry Ed but the only aspect of his attitude that I've heard is that yes, he's a little slow in getting fit from a knock/ injury - doesn't do his all

The player that stands out for being lazy has now moved on and that was arnautovic.

{Ed001's Note - Arnautovic tracked back unlike Shaqiri. Shaqiri plays football like my mate on FIFA, utterly brainless, mindless running until he gets anywhere within sight of goal and shoots. Very rarely passes or crosses, when he does it usually catches his team mates by surprise. He is one of the most over rated players around.}

Arnautovic - now there I a decent player. He is a better comparison to Berbatov than Shaqiri is, but more hard working.

Not a top top player, but lots of ablity IMO. I think he will do very well this season.

{Ed025's Note - im a big fan as well betty..

Shaqiri is nothing like berbatov imo.
He is bone idle and i'd prefer ashly young. in fact i'd prefer ashley grimes.

{Ed001's Note - I think people just haven't actually watched Shaqiri play, he produces a couple of MOTD moments throughout a season and that is the sum total of his contribution to the team. If he actually bothered to put some effort in when he trained, he might not pick up so many injuries. Berbatov was a quality player, with an excellent touch which is nothing like Shaqiri at all!}

I think i would prefer zaha over shaqiri.

Bayern got shot of Shaqiri for a reason. And no one other than Stoke came in for him for a reason as well.

He is about good enough to be the big fish in a small pond but lacks the mentality to step up to a big club.

I think we should only sign a new winger if they are significantly better than what we have. Shaqiri isn't, in fact he isn't even as good as what we have. Would rather have Nani back.

03 Aug 2017 11:14:57
Bayern sold him to inter shappy who sold him to Stoke when everton were also interested. So not quite true.

Technically a very good player. Another player with attitude problems. He was renowned for them in Basel, he thought he was the bees knees.

If he gets his head out of his backside, could be very good. Long way off playing for a big club.

03 Aug 2017 11:23:53
Just think yourselves Maze!

Is shaqiri good enough to replace Martial, Rashford, Mkhi, Mata considering if they play in wings? I don't think so. He will never be the winger which will bring lots of goals and assists.

Alexis Sanchez is the perfect choice for me. We may not have interest in him but he has all the attributes to succeed at Man Utd.

03 Aug 2017 12:55:37
Angel, I'd forgotten about his stint at Inter. Well that's two top teams who sold him on pretty quickly. That speaks volumes.

03 Aug 2017 14:48:13
It does Shappy.

More work ethic than technique me thinks.

03 Aug 2017 15:00:58
God no. Stoke is definitely his level.

03 Aug 2017 23:11:49
Shaqiri, no thanks. Dimitar Berbatov, however, was pure class.
