I know people don't like STATS as it opens up a debate that could last a life time. BUT.
Lukaku had fewer unsuccessful touches (77) in the PL last season than:
Costa (107)
Sanchez (94)
Kane (83)
Agüero (79)
But but he has a rubbish first touch.

That goal against city wasn't bad 2 touches and in the net like a rocket from an awkward angle.

GDS, I didn't say that to slag off the guy. Just that you have to take into account the context when looking at a stat.

First touch for the goal was awful and that second touch was diabolical!
In all seriousness his commitment against the keeper when some would have shyed away and the power and precision of the shot show he is a proper goalscorer. Yes he can do other bits better and yes his link up play can be improved but I think we have got ourselves a 20-30 goal scorer.

Lukaka is all about mentality. he wants to win. And no disrespect to Everton but they aren't LIKELY to win trophies are they? And playing for a club like that will give you ups and downs in form if all you want to do is win.
Now he is playing for the biggest club in the world who want to win everything.
the goal he scored last night. I have never seen him celebrate like that. "Look at me. I am Lukaku, worship me" His confidence levels are through the roof, right now. If Jose can nurture that in the way that he does with players he likes, golden boot here we come.
