"There are standards that you have to keep when you are at Manchester United. That came from the manager Sir Alex Ferguson when I went to United and it was then passed down through the dressing room by the likes of Giggsy, Gary Neville and Scholesy.

Over the last few years, it was down to me and Michael Carrick to keep the new players maintaining those standards.

That became more difficult over the last few years, with some of the players who joined the club. "

Rooney in an interview yesterday, as if he wasn't one of the biggest culprits in letting his own standards drop in recent years.

With all the talk of what a club legend he is, complete lack of class to stick two fingers up at his former teammates.

Agree7 Disagree3

Danny you missed the end off .
"There are traditions at United that have to be maintained. It’s become harder, but that’s not my problem any more. I’m just ecstatic to be back at Everton"

Everton player probably time to move on.

There's no need to have a dig at your former teammates. Especially, when your own standards have gone into free fall.

16 Jul 2017 13:21:00
The fat scouser has the gall to talk about his teammates's falling standards after the performances he has given in last 3-4 years at utd, glad we got rid of him it was long overdue and this is supposed to be a utd legend according to some.

16 Jul 2017 13:57:07
Of course he's a legend. He's our record goalscorer of all time. You don't have to like him or even think he's a great player to acknowledge he is a legend.

Of course this is a done to death topic and the definition of legend is so loose as to make it almost pointless to discuss.

So I definitely won't press send on this.

Lol how many people on here have been posting the same.
The traditions at the club have changed since fergy left imo, we are going out and buying 100 mil players, lost an english core etc .
I think Carrick is the only player left that you could tie in to the fergy neville etc mentality, times and the club have changed .
The winning mentality left and to be honest the squad has underachived.

Rooney has made a lot of comments since he has left praised the fans team mates etc never got a mention on the site for some reason?

Everton player now, so maybe time to move on.

jred rooney isn't talking traditions though, he isn't complaining about fees or lack of english players, he is calling his ex teammates not good enough, it is not only laughable especially after his own performances but disrespectful of his teammates.

Common sense
He was asked a question about lukaku and what you needed to be a striker and succeed at United .
He gave a long answer went into a bit of detail said it's not just talent you need but mentality, understand the club, handle the pressure etc.
Explained he was lucky had the class of 92 and explained and talked about the mentality of the dressing room under fergy .

A few websites etc chopped parts of the interview up put a head line on it and used it as click bait .

Fans like your self then get outraged by single sentence in a full interview while ignoring 13 years every cup possible record goal scorer etc etc.
He has said a lot of positive things about the club fans squad, it's very easy to vilify anyone if you want to .

He is a Everton player now tho so maybe time to move on.

"Over the last few years, it was down to me and Michael Carrick to keep the new players maintaining those standards.

That became more difficult over the last few years, with some of the players who joined the club. "

These are his direct quotes and if this isn't a dig at his ex teammates then i don't know what is.

Common
It's very easy to take a comment out of context . Watch the interview .

In fact just read the posts above .
Your hate is very clear.

Who cares what he said he is an everton player.
You don't expect him to show a bit if class he is latgely poorly educated and he will revert tp type. Its just as well he had scholes carrick etc to keep his standards up or he could have been pictured drunk in a taxi while on club and national duty or pi##ing on the street or in a 3sum with some tramp.
Nothing he does or says now has any relevence to united. Just another ex player same as william prunier . He will say good things and bad things who cares its his perogative.

Ken
People care because it's another chance to have a go .
And on this page some never miss the chance to slag certain players off

Everton player now maybe time to move on .

16 Jul 2017 17:06:23
Scholes is a good example of an ex player who has had a lot to say about the standard of the united team as well as people like Ferdinand Neville etc all great players fondly remembered by most fans . Even if they are just ex players like purneier .
At least scholes waited until he left club, only kean could slag them off on the club's own channel while he was still at the club .
Could be an arse kean but another important part of united history, so many great memories who could forget that CL semi final against juve .
It's games like that that make supporting a club worth while.
