Morning. Got to say, the two signings of lindelolf and lukaku have been excellent and strengthen our weaknesses.
But reports linking us with Dier at £50-£60m are worrying. He's not worth half that price and is very limited in his game. Mourinho, please stay well clear.

I feel matic will be next.

12 Jul 2017 08:37:09
Dier would be perfect for pogba, allow the fullbacks more freedom as he will drop back into defence when we don't have the ball, his passing range is pretty good. I don't understand why you are so against it?

12 Jul 2017 08:41:02
I like Dier. Every time I've watched him I've noticed he rarely gives the ball away. Big lad too, equally at home at centre back. I think he'd allow Pogba and others space to be creative. The price quoted seems ott but the market is crazy these days and I doubt Spurs would want to sell anyway.

12 Jul 2017 09:03:07
If Mourinho stories are to be believed he has always rated Carrick and what he offers to the team. Comfortable on the ball, reads play well and happy to drop into defence to potentially turn back 4 into a back 3 with full backs pushing on.
In this sense if he is looking to build a team with that sort of player then Dier for me fits the bill perfectly. He is as close to Carrick as I have seen and would allow the team to maintain the way it plays with Carrick and Dier rotating during the season.
I am ignoring price. as its all a little bit crazy for me.

12 Jul 2017 09:10:18
Let's be honest, nobody is 'worth half the price' they are quoted at, we do not know the budget we are working with or what we have been quoted for other players so for me it is all about whether the player would improve us and whilst he wouldn't be my first choice I think as others have said he would be fantastic for Pogba.

12 Jul 2017 09:13:24
Looking at the signings the manager has made I think we need to trust him if he wants dier it will be for a reason .
I personally Wouldn't go for dier but then again I am not a multi trophy winning super manager so I know as much about identifying the right players to the right system as I do about crochet.

12 Jul 2017 09:15:32
I think Dier would really flourish at United the same way Carrick did.
Very accomplished on the ball, rarely gives the ball away and reads the game really well.
I think he would really improve if he came to Old Trafford, a perfect signing in my humble opinion but the fee is extremely steep but what do you expect when dealing with that horrible little man Daniel Levy?

12 Jul 2017 09:26:13
Good player Dier . It's Jose's choice at the end of the day . I still think Matic may appear but also another could be added . I would think Fabiniho or Blaise Matuidi would work better . Oh how I wish we had bid £50mill for Kante last season 😆😆.

12 Jul 2017 10:30:12
Don't worry good old levy will screw you lot over, 60 million for bang average dier will soon turn to 70 million. I always respected man Utd over the years with their brilliant youth structure but now you've got mourinho who needs to spend billions at every club he's been to for success.

12 Jul 2017 10:40:39
Raver nought happening on your page . Oh that's right your not that big anymore Everton are the main team on Merseyside now aren't they fella. 😆😆.

12 Jul 2017 10:47:53
Don't worry raver he can screw us for 80m if he likes we can afford it 😉.

12 Jul 2017 10:51:23
Oddly embittered post from the raver.

12 Jul 2017 11:13:13
£50m for Spurs second choice dm? No thanks. Very limited player. Wanyama is clear an improvement over him for Spurs.

12 Jul 2017 11:24:48
Good player and and an English talent. others may not agree but the more homegrown talent in our squad the better as far as I'm concerned.

12 Jul 2017 11:34:46
Raver forgetting about Jose at Porto and inter not spending vast amounts. So what Jose has been at top clubs who have money cz he's a top manager of course he's going to spend the money if he has it. Nobody is worth the amounts people are going for atm. I'm sure Spurs will sign someone overpriced soon enough.

12 Jul 2017 12:18:20
They already have WRD, there's this lad called Sissoko, he's their most expensive signing, and he's luck to get on the bench.

{Ed004's Note - Just on the topic of Dier. I think he'd be a phenomenal signing. He's exactly the type of player we need to allow Herrera and Pogba freedom to get forward. He also offers the option of dropping into a back 3 and allowing our full backs to push on. By all accounts Shaw looks to have improved his fitness and we are still interested in Semedo. We would have a really strong side next season. Hopefully Mkhitaryan and Martial find form out wide and we would have a very formidable side}

12 Jul 2017 13:10:24
Cam't help but think if he was called Eric Dierinho and was playing for Monaco he would be exactly what we need.

{Ed004's Note - Agreed}

12 Jul 2017 13:40:19
Brfo I'm a spurs fan not a Liverpool fan lol. Grims I'm not bitter at all as you are paying over the odds for our 3rd choice midfielder, you should have gone for the brilliant mousa dembele who is on another level to diet. We can lose dier quite easily has we have one of the best football squads in the country as you lot were 20 odd points behind us and got stuffed again by us lol.

12 Jul 2017 13:54:16
Raver, You are correct that Dembele is a quality player and that with him and Wanayama you are set in midfield. However what we need is a proper DM that allows others to get forward and in that sense I can see the link with us to him. Also if Ed004 likes him then that is good enough for me ;)

12 Jul 2017 14:01:08
What did you win last season raver?

12 Jul 2017 14:09:10
Dierihrio the Brazilian who just keeps running😆😆 (I'll get me coat)

12 Jul 2017 14:10:16
I'd take Dier and be very happy with the 3 signings so far. Maybe not all of our first choices but very good players.

12 Jul 2017 14:33:37
Indeed raver I for one would like to congratulate you and spurs on another trophy laden season.

12 Jul 2017 14:51:52
If Dier wasn't playing in England I doubt there'd be much interest in him. Spurs brought in Wanyama because they didn't think he was good enough in midfield, and his best performances came in a 3 man defence alongside two of the best defenders in the league. He doesn't have anywhere near Carrick's range of passing, and has been very poor in international games.

He's a decent defender, and good cover for midfield, but I don't see why we would be getting hyped over signing what is ostensibly a back up player for Spurs.

12 Jul 2017 15:46:15
Agreed Danny. Average player and we're being stuffed by Levy again. The point I was making is that dier is indeed dire and will not improve us in any way. Then to pay £50m to get him is an insult.
If posters on here think he's a good player, then they're entitled to their opinion. But he is bang average and this will show within months if we get him.

12 Jul 2017 15:47:50
Interesting that a player not good enough for Spurs has only missed 3 of their last 76 games.

12 Jul 2017 16:23:34
Dier is a good player but I hope the club push for Fabinho as I think he and Silva were the ones who made Monaco tick last season. 😆😆.

12 Jul 2017 16:25:27
How many of those games were in midfield? He has played cdm, CB and rb for Spurs, and is their utility player.

He's a more polished John O'Shea. Nice to have in the squad, but not exceptional in any position. We're supposedly buying him to play in midfield, and that's his weakest position. Spurs stopped using him there and it coincided with their good run. England use him there and he has been poor. His best position is on the right of a three man defence, but Jose don't play that way.
