The murmurs of the Lukaku deal do not come as a huge surprise. The fee is absurd but what fee isn't at the moment? Having said that it makes a hell of a lot more sense than signing Madrid's reserve player whom some are clambering over for a similar amount.

I don't think Chelsea will get involved now. Abramovich in my opinion wouldn't make himself look foolish by re-signing a player he had already on his books for a very excessive fee compared to what Chelsea received when Lukaku left London.

My problem with signing Lukaku is that he is another one of slimy Raiola's pawns. If Lukaku, Pogba and Miki have stellar seasons he will shop them around for his own financial gain and I for one would hate to start rebuilding a team from scratch after a title victory - 2013 reincarnate.

However, Lukaku has his negatives but he can score goals at this level and could be a good player for the club.

Your already getting the rope ready to hang him then I see. Where do you get your stuff from Maze? Just read further down on one of your anti Mourinho replies and you say Drogba was a star before he even went to Chelsea. He had 1 season at Marseille where he finished 3rd top scorer in the French league behind Cisse and Frei. That was after a season or so at Guingamp where he was still fairly unknown.
Then you say Milito was the star of the Inter team already yet he was hardly in the Argentina team and only managed 25 caps and 4 goals in total. That Inter team had an outstanding keeper and defence (cesar, Maicon, Cordoba, zanetti, lucio, samuel, chivu) at the time, a very good midfield including Muntari, Cambiasso, Motta, stankovic, sschneijderr, Quaresma etc and Etoo, Pandev, and Balotelli up front too. If anything Sneijder was the star playmaker and Balotelli the potential superstar. They won the treble that season. Milito was top scorer for mainly that season when Mourinho was there.
I know all this as I remember some but then look it up to confirm the facts that show what utter moaning drivel you manage to conjure up.

Great reply Supa . Facts MAZE not BS 😆😆.

06 Jul 2017 23:05:48
Now now supasub don't let the truth get in the way of a good post😂😂
Opinions are great but just trying to be a sensationalist wears thin.

To be fair. It's a pretty level argument.

Morata is very inconsistent and would be a risk at the price. Lukaku is a more reasonable choice given his scoring record and attributes mourinho likes in a striker. Though the price is ridiculous, but that's football now. Iheanacho is being quoted at £25 million. Why? So in the grand scheme of things, the fee is pretty irrelevant.

The fact remains is that lukaku upsets hierarchies wherever he has been. And from his time at Everton, he constantly talked about the 'next level'. What's to say he won't do that in the future, if he's successful, to us? Raiola and other 'super' agents are always looking for the next pay day and that's always going to be the problem.

But for now, lukaku is a 20 goal a season striker. It could be worse.

One month ago Lukaku said he knew where he wanted to go and his agent was talking to a club.

I'm not sure football clubs measure values in the way people think, businessess use amortisation, a player amortisation is how they will value a player . It depends how wages, agent fees, Image rites, wages, structure and duration of payments are made to give an annual cost of a player, two players costing similar amounts may have a very different figure . I doubt war chests or just meet a valuation is how they will run their accounts there's a bit more to it .

Supa are you replying to my post on this thread? If so your response is extremely warped. Who is getting the rope out to hang Lukaku? It does not seem that you have read my post at all.

I am not anti Mourinho as a manager, as an individual perhaps I am much like the majority of this forum. Do not give me the Jose made Drogba a star speech. Drogba was signed back in 2004 for 24mil – a massive fee at the time. He was being chased by several huge clubs and was unplayable at Marseille so much so that he was regarded as a legend when he left.

As for Milito before he was signed for 25mil (again not a small fee especially for an Italian club at the time) he scored 26 goals in 32 games for Genoa. So again how on earth did Jose ‘make him a star’? That is like saying Wenger signing Lacazette from Lyon for a large fee and Lacazette having a great season that it was indeed Wenger who made Lacazette a top player.

Stop trying to give the special one credit whilst taking credit away from these great players. Jose deserves credit for knowing his way around a blank cheque book.

Pull your head in mate. Really poor post.

07 Jul 2017 00:24:18
Oh and what a shock to see the chuckle brothers Ken and Bfro cheer your post on from the sidelines. Embarrassing.

07 Jul 2017 00:55:14
Don't be embarrassed we're used to it.

07 Jul 2017 01:01:55
Ken I have very little doubt that you are used to being embarrassed. Could be your middle name mate.

{Ed007's Note - Right that's enough bickering ffs Reading this stuff must put lurkers off posting in case they upset either of you 2 bangers or your cronies!}

07 Jul 2017 01:16:39
Agreed Ed. I am here to chat about football.

{Ed007's Note - We can talk about other stuff too but we need to just stop the constant sniping and bickering. Too many posters just disagree with certain other posters regardless of the point they're trying to make or discussion they're trying to spark and it's ssooo boring, there's not even any humour in it. Nobody wants to read petty bickering apart from those involved.
But to say Jose is a chequbook manager after what he done at Porto (spit) and Inter is bollox ya diddy! ;)

07 Jul 2017 01:15:48
Your quoting things I haven't said Maze. Milito did next to nothing once Jose left. You said he was the star of the team when he most definitely wasn't (how do you define a star? I had a hammer of a right foot in the Dorset league about 20 years ago) . Using you logic then regarding Drogba having one season at Marseille and classed as a legend is an odd term to use considering what the term legend means. His fee could have been high because he had either a long time left on his contract or a big clause. I don't think I mentioned Lacazette or Wenger in my post so I don't know why you have to then throw a player and a manager in to justify your argument including a scenario regarding Lafayette and Wenger as if it were in my post. Well yes I do know why, because you make it up as you go along. I didn't mention anything about Mourinho making Drogba or Milito a "star". Again making stuff up. What length have you made Lukaku's rope?

{Ed007's Note - As long as his dong -I bet 'big' Rom's not skulking in a corner in the shower!}

07 Jul 2017 02:20:42
Supa where have I misquoted you? I will tell you where – nowhere. The point regarding Milito was that he was already a feared hitman in Serie A and because Jose spent a lot of money to get him to Inter wasn’t the reason he was a very good finisher. Supa there is also really no point to your philosophical outlook on what is a legend, let’s say he was an extremely well thought of talented player at Marseille is that better? You know fine well the point I am making. Drogba’s fee was expensive because he was a damn good player and was being chased by many clubs. Do you think Sanchez will leave for buttons if he goes this summer because he has one year on his contract? No he will go for good coin because he is a damn good player.

You didn’t mention Lacazette I did to show how foolish your statement was. It is a good example. If Lacazette does well at Arsenal is it Wengers doing or because he is a good player who Arsenal spent a lot of money on? The same goes for Drogba. If you look at your original post you will see you using the word ‘star’. I posted about Lukaku and you went on a tirade about Drogba, Milito, Mourinho, Cambiasso, Samuel, Chivu etc yet it is me who is digressing. Go figure.

07 Jul 2017 07:44:34
Dam it! I have run put of pop corn.

07 Jul 2017 10:38:57
To me to you Ken. Coming from the guy who replied to his own post under a different name now that's embarrassing. 😆😆.

07 Jul 2017 11:18:54
For what's it worth, I thought Maze's original post was a good one, not sure why it veered off in a completely different direction.

07 Jul 2017 02:23:24
Ed I may be wrong but isn’t Jose the biggest spending manger in the game? He loves to throw the cash about. Even at Inter 100mil over two years is nothing to be sniffed at. I am not saying that on his day he is not a good manager but he has been lucky that has been able to run riot with a blank chequebook in most of the jobs he has had.

{Ed007's Note - £100 million in 2 years at Inter and he won The Treble - I don't think that's a bad return for spending £50 million a season especially when he won a CL for them.}

07 Jul 2017 12:35:56
I would think the Marseille fans would have Papin, Waddle and Pele classed as legends for them well above Drogba when Marseille were the best club in Europe not so long ago.
Probably before your time like I am to you on this site.
