So Carrick is offered a one year extension. Does this mean (a) Jose hasn't found a replacement or (b) no way in hell will he use a youngster as back up or (c) he's learned that we cannot compete with a tiny squad and we need at least two players per position.

Answers on a post card.

{Ed004's Note - I would guess it's because we will be losing a lot of experience this summer and Carrick will add good cover and someone for youngsters to learn from. Furthermore, Carrick will probably start the season strongly after a good preseason and this gives the new guy a chance to settle in and eventually replace Carrick if he doesn't hit the new ground running. Fabinho/Dier, Carrick and Herrera for the holding role is plenty. Herrera will mostly play further forward though. I think Fellaini will stay and think Periera needs game time}

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini may be off to Turkey?

{Ed004's Note - I just can't see Fellaini leaving. Think he will be here one more season before we can replace him}

Personally don't mind if he does stay as a plan B. Unfortunately he's been used as a Plan A fartoo much this season.

{Ed004's Note - Agreed. Hopefully his game time will reduce}

Dier. Lmao. Good luck on that one.

Oh here comes the Spurs fans that come on here whenever a Spurs player is mentioned telling us that their players never want to leave as they are at the greatest club that they love, like carrick, berbatov, bale, modric etc.

17 May 2017 07:12:32
So ed do you think fellaini will get another contract or be allowed to leave on a free next summer?
I was hoping carrick will get a contract because they got an unexpected offer for fellaini.

{Ed004's Note - don't we have the option to extend his contract by a year?}

17 May 2017 08:51:55
Did Ed 2 not say carrick would be offered a contract if we couldn't get the cm we wanted?

GDS2, Spurs are a different level now. Firstly they are a better footballing team than we have been for years, they've got CL football, will be playing their home games at Wembley next season and have a new stadium to look forward to the season after that. Spurs are very big players now and a club to be envious of. If Levy gets his cheque book out they will kick on to the next level. They are nowhere near the selling club they've been recently. I dare say that Kane, Dier, Rose, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen etc would see their current employer as a much more attractive proposition than United at the moment - wages excluded.

17 May 2017 12:44:31
Interesting you mention Walker, he's not staying by the look of it. Rose seems to be number 2 now also, will he stay?

Just this week Deli Ali was dodging the question of how long he would stay at Tottenham.

I agree completely that they are a better team right now, but the players always want to move to what they view as a glammer club: Barca, Real, Bayern, Chelsea and City are probably top of that bracket right now.

Utd have tarnished that image somewhat with a few years of struggles, but to some we still have that appeal. Bale seemed to be dead set aagainst the thought of Its when he chose Real. Depends massively on the player.

ED we exercised that option this season. He had a 4 year deal with the option of a 5th which takes him to end of next season.

{Ed004's Note - Thanks}

17 May 2017 13:07:32
I doubt that wazza.

18 May 2017 00:38:38
GDS2, you sound a bit bitter fella.

Wazza, fair play to you for being honest, and dare i say it generous.

Dodgybanter, Rose is not 2nd choice he is injured. He had a 2nd operation this morning.
