Just want to see everyone's opinion on Bale been open to a move to us. I for one would go all out to get him.

Agree3 Disagree7

I could not agree more about getting bale if it's possible, if available he would be my instant number one target, the guy is proven prem league quality no guesswork, had the same kind of impact if not more than hazard in his last couple of year in England. He has had some injury issues but is a standout player in a team of star players, he may well be a double champs league winner in the last two year and played a massive part in guiding Wales to the semis of the euros, he's versatile can play numerous roles and is lightyears better than what we have especially in right sided attack a total no brainer to me if available.

13 May 2017 07:30:30
He is a class act a real game changer but he does seem to be injured a lot.

13 May 2017 08:09:01
Talent yes!

In reality the cost against injury risk no.

So As the dragons would say "im out"

I get your point jred, he's a cut above most though when fit and one of the best in the world in one of our weak positions, if he was to go to Chelsea or city I think we would have big trouble keeping up with them, adding his name to our teamsheet sends a message to other teams that they have their hands full today, strong, quick and direct.

13 May 2017 08:11:55
For around 50 mil, sure. For around 100 mil, no way.

If he can stay fit I think he is one of very few players who can win a game on his own .
Ronaldo and Messi are the 2 stand out players in the world but I believe if bale could stay fit for a season he is a step up from the rest.
But his seasons just seem very stop start, every time he gets going he seems to have knock back .

That said would love to see him in a united shirt when he is on top of his game he is a special player.

13 May 2017 08:31:15
If available and willing to join then it's a no brainer.

We had the same thing about Vidal and many others. Injury prone, too much money, etc. Ultimately you have to risk it when you are in the position we are, besides half of our squad is injury prone and nowhere near the level of Bale.

One of the best players in the world is available, take him if you can afford it.

13 May 2017 08:32:55
I agree jred if people woke up today and the headline was city or Liverpool sign bale, quite a few would think oh no dammit, and if he had a season like we know he's well capable of what on earth didn't we buy him for we knew he was capable of that, I guess there's always the other side of the coin but he's still be my number 1 signing I wish we would.

{Ed004's Note - Bale when fit and on form is without doubt a top 5/10 player in world football so seems like a no brainier. However, his injury record is awful recently and that along with the fact he has rejected us twice would be concerning. It could easily be another Robben scenario where he has to leave Madrid to full succeed. Additionally it would nearly garuntee us moving towards a 433 in order to ensure he has the best platform to perform (Would suit Pogba too). I think it comes down to the price realistically. If Madrid ask for 100+ million I think that is too risky. Anything under 80 million and he might just be worth it. I agree that I'd would be gutted and terrified if he signed for another premiership team. He will walk back into the league and probably be the best player in it offensively. Can't think of any current attacker as good as him. This is all depending on him staying fit though.

Lastly how long do posters think he has left at his best? He's about to turn I think 28 so this should be his peak and he is heavily reliant on his speed. He could either go down the Rooney route or Robben route and I'm not sure which way he will go}

Yer that's a good point I would be gutted if he went to another EPL club .

Ed I have always said that once his pace deteriorates then he won't be the player he has been. He doesn't have the skill of a ronaldo or messi, for me. He is a big lad though, so could he do a ronaldo and become a centre forward? He knows where the goal is. I'd be a bit hesitant at this age to pay huge money for him when he will start to decline, the injuries won't have helped him either.

It's a tough one. But as some say for around £50m it would be worth a risk I guess, but any more and I'd be very hesitant. If he was paying every week and banging in goals then £80m no problem, but he is very pace orientated and injury prone.

{Ed004's Note - He is very powerful in the air, extremely clinical and a very good set piece taker so he would have some attributes left but you're right. He's got 3-4 years of top football left in him and he'd probably win us atleast one premiership trophy if he stayed fit}

13 May 2017 09:34:52
I think there could be a decent centre forward in him, like ronaldo is now, but with a little less trickery. He'd probably score plenty from corners, crosses, free kicks etc, he also knows the PL which is always a bonus. Yeah I'd sign him at around £50m, as you say he'd probably win us 'at least' one title which would be well worth it.

Is there any talk of him actually being available or is this all hypothetical?

13 May 2017 10:09:57
Isco is playing really well for them.
I'm a bit concerned as he might join Chelsea, as Hazard would go to Madrid, Chelsea can demand Bale.

13 May 2017 10:15:58
I'd go anywhere up to £100m for him, big money still coming in, very much doubt we would get him for anything less than £85m.

Jose has been playing wide men deeper recently, I hate it. But Bale played a lot as a LB/ WB as well, so despite pace being very important he will never be as slow as Blind and does look after himself well! We will get 3-4 good years out of him as an attacking threat regardless and then he will be off to India/ China/ USA to improve the brand imo.

Whatever happens we shouldn't be thinking about injuries imo as any player is a moment away from an injury and he has had periods of his career where he was relatively injury free - different coaches, environment, luck etc. The key thing is what Ed mentioned about him turning us down before, but in saying that I'd take Ramsey, Hazard and Sanchez so I don't want to be a hypocrite - beggars can't be choosers and make no mistake about where we are at the minute.

13 May 2017 10:46:20
Beast,

If we win a week on Wednesday we are a champions league team who are one of the richest and biggest clubs in the world, does that still mean we are 'beggars'? Your putting down of your own club astounds me at times and maybe you are after this reaction but just wow.

13 May 2017 11:03:24
Bale is awesome as a player when fit and I feel will improve again when he is able to step out of Ronaldos shadow and be a teams top go to guy. That said. He has to stay fit which has been a struggle, also does he fit the Jose mould like say a Willian (I'm convinced we will bid for him)
So. I'm on the fence.

13 May 2017 11:10:57
Bale rejected us when we were a top level CL team (not a maybe sneak in through the backdoor CL team 5th/ 6th best in England), other players I mentioned rejected us when we were a top level CL team, best in England, top 5/ 6 in Europe.

The past 4 years have been very damaging for our reputation and prestige. The way we bore teams to death will not appeal to attacking players as much as we used to as well, shouldn't discount that.

So yeah I think when it comes to maybe signing one of the top 10 players in the world I think we shouldn't be dismissing it because of a poor injury record. We pay a premium for every player we sign, partly because of how much money we have, partly because of our incompetence but mostly because of how desperate we are.

My analysis of the situation is realistic, we are not in a position to be picky when it comes to signing world class talent. If we can afford it and they are interested we need to sign them up.

13 May 2017 11:47:56
Beast
I agree with you we will be charged heavily for him but but we overpay for a load of average players I'd rather over pay for one of the best in the world, we are not at our most appealing to join at the moment so he's going to want his pound of flesh off us but if zlatan leaves that's covered.

13 May 2017 14:28:03
I'd love bale at united. His injury record is a concern but he is s genuine game changer I the final 3rd a goal better a chance maker.
If he wants to come its a deal i would want to pursue.
Since his mince be had developed fantastic movement off the ball with intelligent and varied runs. He can drop off or run behind. Which is a party of the game rash needs to develop and I'm sure he will.
Greizman is another player who brings similar attributes. Although a very different player.

13 May 2017 14:41:33
Wanted him here since his Southampton days. Take him in a heartbeat. As people on here are fond of saying, it's not my money.

13 May 2017 16:30:03
If some people think they wouldn't pay more than 50 mill for bale and they think they would make Madrid sell him to us for that, if they pulled that deal off I'd get them to negotiate the UK's brexit deal.

13 May 2017 17:04:30
I would think that the hazzard / bale move would appeal mire too Madrid of they could leverage bale to get hazzard.
They have got some form playing 442 diamond without bale so he could been seen as surplus to requirements of they continue with that system and it does suit Ronaldo better nowadays too be more central.

13 May 2017 17:42:59
We have DeGea to use as leverage ken it likely he will go anyway, swaps rarely happen but a bit of you deal with us or we won't deal with you possibly, if the size of our budget is as massive as many predict it would be nice to turn the tables on them and see how they cope with varane or kroos or bales agent knocking on their chairman's door saying have u seen what utd would offer my player he wants to go or get a raise to stay, they do this to other teams be nice to be the hunter not the hunted while we have such finantial mite.
