We slate him when he's bad so it's only fair to say that Pogba looked excellent tonight. I predict he'll be one of the league's best in the next couple of years.

Agree25 Disagree0

Less of the "we", some of us have not slated him at all! I do not think he has been bad this season but has been adapting to the team and league.

05 May 2017 07:09:44
Yeah I think Pogba looked very good last night, the dominating force that I expected him to be this season. Good sign, let's hope he can do it against the good teams domestically.

05 May 2017 07:32:05
I've never slated him and I never understood what the fans want off him. He's been a top performer this season and all the stats show that. The press have got on his back as he's a United player and unfortunately some of our own fans were stupid enough to believe the press.
He's hit the bar/ post on about 7 occasions which would have seen us win games that were drawn. He can improve his finishing and heading for sure but the guy is excellent.

05 May 2017 08:02:14
Most fans want what he showed last night consistently.

Last night is being remarked on because it was unusual to the vast majority of people, nothing to do with the press, everything to do with how he has performed this season overall.

I'm pretty sure Pogba and Jose would admit it hasn't been a good year for him, as they will be quick to put excuses up like "slow start down to readjusting to the league", you don't say stuff like that if you are playing to the level expected.

He has not been excellent this season by any stretch of the imagination. We have seen glimpses for sure and I hope he kicks on now, but prior to this he has stood out in only a couple of games.

05 May 2017 08:11:56
He played well last night, I hope that puts to bed the daft "he can only play left-sided in a 433".
He was very good at cm in a 2 last night .
The wig had a decent game but of course still got stick.

05 May 2017 08:23:27
Hes had an okay season. Would have been much better had he put away numerous chances over the course.

Played well last night. That's the CM they bought.

Fellaini had another good game jred but for whatever reason he will always get stick.

05 May 2017 08:36:58
That's because he's not a United player. Haven't you heard?

05 May 2017 08:54:31
Angle
It's OK to slate fellaini but never pogba .

05 May 2017 09:02:09
Form is temporary class is permanent as they say unfortunately fellaini isn't class but has had some good games this season and he has uses. Is he worth a space in the squad? Probably but he should be playing less next season if he isn't something went wrong in this summers transfer window. Most opponents stick 10 behind the ball against us we need quick mobile players most of the time. Fellaini can be used a bit like park that he actually plays most of the big games but is a sub most of the time for the rest.

05 May 2017 09:06:23
It maybe helps that he has had a bit of rest over the past week or so.
Maybe that's something the manager should look at next season to get the best out of him. don't over play him!

05 May 2017 10:15:03
Last night was a crucial away goal which will probably see Jose park the bus at home and try to hit them on the counter, hate his style of football. When you spend £90 million on a player he should be dictating games, making the difference week in week out. In my eyes Pogba has had a poor season when you look at what was spent on him!

{Ed002's Note - The fact the goal was away from home has no relevance whatsoever.}

05 May 2017 10:48:40
I think pogba and herrera have done ok this season the wig and carrick haven't been bad either .
We will prob add one other in the summer as well .

05 May 2017 11:34:16
ED, do you mean to Jose's style of play or to the scoreline in general?

Or both?

or neither?

Oooooh a mystery. fun.

{Ed002's Note - What are you talking about?}

05 May 2017 12:26:39
That's a fair review WRD imo.
The squad imo lacks quality and we have too many under achievers who some will argue just are not playing well. I would argue that they are playing as well if not better than they ever have so unless we add more quality we won't progress enough.
It's not about the big name for me. give me another unheard of bailly instead of smalling or Jones anyday. Shaw was a huge signing most expensive teenager ever but it has not worked so its not about the name more the right fit for the manager. 4 or 5 more astute signings from Jose should see us right. Plus miki pogba bailly will have a years all experience behind them.
Anybody who thinks we can compete with the best teams in Europe and in the epl with our squad as it stands is mistaken imo. I think we have proved that under 3 managers. But at last we have one that won't accept mediocrity.

05 May 2017 12:35:04
Ed002,

Do away goals not count double in the Europa then?

{Ed002's Note - Yes. Give me a score where 0-1 would help though?}

05 May 2017 13:01:32
If we draw 0-0 at home then 0-1 would definitely help us go through to the final 😀.

{Ed002's Note - This is the problem with football fans, they are generally as dumb as a box of rocks.}

05 May 2017 13:35:20
1 or 2 players of being a very good team Imo.
A few will of run there course carrick young rooney but the first team is not far off.
People get obsessed with names and if a team is playing well thinking all there players are great .
01 makes a great point on the euro page about madrid, yet all the fan boys drool over them .

Fellaini was going to be sold never good enough for Jose. -Done fine tho obviously rated by Jose.
Tony v is never a rb . -He has been great.
Look at the abuse rojo got before Xmas never a footballer, never united standard . He has been very good this season proved many wrong . We have had 2 very good cb partnerships rojo and Jones which is why bailly never came straight back in to the team and rojo and bailly .
People just move on to the next player to blame, or the next player that isn't good enough in there opinion .

Some fans just look at a name and not what they do, or the latest fad player.
Our first 11 needs 2 maybe 3 at a push and we will have a very good team .
As Jose said :
I think with this group of players, the squad we have and the difficulties we are having during the season, I think we are more than fine, " "I think we will be ready in July to open the door for two or three good players to help us to improve our level. "

Of course that may change if rumours of ddg herrera and martial not being happy are true .
But none of them 3 will be leaving because there not good enough.

Add a couple of young players to replace the lads coming to the end of there time and we should be competing on all fronts.

05 May 2017 15:09:34
We beat the probable new champions, and lie a point behind City. This squad, minus those coming to the end and adding a few replacements, is more than capable of competing in the league. 6 or so extra goals at home, and we'd have been right up there. With the right tactics and a bit more luck in front of goal, these current players are good enough.

05 May 2017 14:48:08
Rojo has been solid since day 1 as a CB. Although as a LB I have never seen him play well for us and that is why he has been given such a hard time. I could almost guarantee that if Rojo were played LB next game he would get justifiably slated again.

The key is playing him as a CB and not seeing him as a back-up left back just because he is quick and has a left foot.

It's very rare any of our CB's don't perform well when played as a CB, but how much that is down to us always keeping 5-6-7 players to defend against 1 attacker is debateable. If we committed more men forward would we see Rojo, Smalling, Blind, Jones and even Bailly struggle, is that why Jose provides so much cover? Difficult to know for sure, be nice to see how good they really are as it's a vital area for us. Helps keep their values up though, just injuries that damage that.

05 May 2017 16:01:39
How many replacements / additions stevie do you think are required.

05 May 2017 16:17:49
Ha ha you are probably right there ed002.

05 May 2017 17:30:01
Personally, I'd probably think Rooney, Carrick, Ibra and one of Jones or Smalling. 4 good replacements. This team is competitive, despite what some people on here think. They just need to be utilised properly, like the Chelsea game, and have a bit more luck in front of goal.

05 May 2017 20:46:42
So you don't think we need a left back or right wing.

05 May 2017 23:18:10
I'd have a fluid front 3 of Rashford, Martial and one other, possibly Griezman. There's still rotation options there with Miki, Mata and Lingard. As for left back, I think Shaw is still potentially a top full back, and Darmian and Blind are more than adequate cover. Like I said, this very same team had the potential to be much more competitive this season, barring some sloppy finishing and perhaps some over cautious tactics in certain games. We're still only a point behind City for all our supposed weaknesses.
