Short Term - Midfield need to support more, its 2 or 3 against 6. That should be enough to get us CL football with the talent we have so long as the manager stays out of the changing room and leaves the lads to do their natural thing.

Mid-Term - Bye bye Jose, I'd axe him this summer.

Manager has lost his mojo, he lost it Xmas time 2 years ago, we brought in another dead duck I'm afraid. Too bothered trying to prove their way is right rather than adapting to circumstances. It happens in every walk of life, Woody needs an up and coming manager next, somebody with hunger and a willingness to evolve and most importantly focus on hurting teams.

I wouldn't trust Jose with £200m as the next manager will need to carry out another clean up exercise. It's clear Jose has a way of playing and it is contain and hope for a moment of magic, we need more than that otherwise we are going to have many boring games, with the occasional snatch and grab from a big game to pacify the hopefuls. All we have is hope, no evidence at all things will change next season, as they haven't all season and he has had many games against a lot of poor teams to try things out.

Long Term - unless we hire a manager who has something to prove and fire in their belly we will go round in circles. So we need to stick with somebody that is doing the right things. Jose, like LVG is not progressive, not the Utd way so draws and even some wins can feel like defeats!

Beast I think we have already done your mid term scenario. We tried out Moyes, remember? By the way, city played a draw with a better squad. May be they should sack Pep too. How about blaming the damn players for once? Now, I m not defending Jose but there should be a line drawn where the players need to take the blame.

Shan - clearly a fair few of our players aren't good enough, but most of them have been educated to attack teams all their careers. They are having to change their natural games and it isn't working. Ultimately responsibility is with the manager, he shouldn't be treated just like any player, he is the one calling the shots and frankly it is not good enough.

Every other walk of life the head honcho takes the fall, he trains, picks and guides the players. A more attack minded manager would probably get a lot more from this crop. How many strikers and #10's do we have to go through to realise that the problem is the system and way they are asked to play. All isolated.

P. S - Moyes is the opposite of what I am talking about, so no we haven't tried what I have been asking for for many years. Our club is screaming out for a manager that wants to go out and smash teams, not settle for clean sheets and hopes to win a game 1-0.

I see players who are not as good as some of the hype about themselves, players who are past their best. Not all of them but a core that mean we need to make changes in summer.

We let SAF take the team backwards towards the end, then chose a manager who has this season showed his level, followed it up with a manager whose ethos was not right. All this has taken us to a fight for 4th, it needs players who are good enough, mentally and skill set. We need to be realistic, some players are not winners. It will need time to sort out. This manager is not Moyes but one who knows what good looks like and it would be ridiculous to make a change now, utterly ridiculous.

What are you talking bout mate. The other teams up there are no mugs and some spent just as much as we did or more and also improved from last year. Th problem we have is not the players who have come in and we would be top 4 comfortably now but for the injuries.

Nothing wrong with the manager and we can't sack managers every 12 months. a decent summer transfer window and we will compete for the league next year but that does not mean we have some divine right to it as the rest of top 6 will also be better next year and spend money.

It's amazing how when we play well the manager is a genius and when we play bad the players are crap.

No Beast, most of the players you have in the team are from Moyes/ LVG era and have not been trained for attack. They minds have been screwed up badly and that is something that does not change overnight. Add to the fact that most of these players are simply not good enough no matter how much the fans hype them. We do not have a leader on the pitch and no one to drag us up. It's not all down to the manager. It will be down to him if we are in a similar position next year when it's his team. The front 3 in this game were what most on here wanted, right? "Pace in behind to stretch the defence". The manager chose them. How did they use their pace? It says a lot about your attacking players when the best player on the pitch is your 22 year old defender who is still adjusting to the country and league. Yes, it's the leader who is evaluated in the end but luckily the evaluator isn't a keyboard warrior sitting at his home and cribbing. The team performance needs to be evaluated given the circumstances. How many injuries are due to the manager? How many shots on goal? How many times have we hit the post? How many goal keepers have had wonder games against us? How is any of this a manager's fault, I fail to see it.

It would be best if we as fans stop cribbing because Jose isn't going anywhere this season. Like it or not, he will be here next season. So let's see where we are this time next year and then evaluate Jose's performance. For now, several of these players should be very worried.

Did he just suggest we sack mourinho again? Lol!

Yes jred, when the team plays well, they have done their job and executed the manager's tactics well. Like against Chelsea, Burnley and City. Today they didn't and it's their fault. But I am one of those who are using tiredness to players as an "excuse".

30 Apr 2017 18:39:48
Shan you sure are, just watched spurs who cover every inch of the pitch and pick more or less the same team week in week out and they where great .
In fact they seem to be getting better .
Arsenal where average, when was the last time arsenal won the league, 2004? If only the players would execute wegners tactics better .

On tactics I thought Swansea where spot on today, started in a diamond with a extra man in cm and sigs more or less taken carrick out the game .
Jose changed it a half time and matched them and we got back it but fair play to Swansea changed straight to 433 and got back in to it .

30 Apr 2017 18:55:05
beast are you and jamey brothers i would of thought to judge him whe he as the team he wants was not fergie given time to sack one of the best managers out ther is a joke or you are on the wind up.

30 Apr 2017 19:19:08
Jred, when did Spurs last play? Who was it against? We played 9 games in April alone, that's more than 2 games a week average. How many have Spurs played during that time? Is their leading goal scorer out injured? Are they playinga patched up defence? The right comparison would be City team. Although they haven't played the same amount as us but they played Thursday and that showed today.

Shan
Over the season spurs have played just as many league games as us .
They also played in the CL but like most teams were not daft enough to play fully strength teams in league cup .
Kane has been out twice for a period of time this season, Ibra has just got injured.
Ali for example who is getting better and looks sharp was playing his 44th game today Eriksen his 40th.

City have now won 2 games in 9 yet you had them as some super team that we couldn't possibly attack on only Thursday.
They conceded 2 against a Middlesbrough team that can't score . imagine if Middlesbrough had players like rash martial miki .
So in short city have not just been struggling this Sunday.
They have won 2 games out of there last 9 . It's just another convenient excuse.
United haven't just been poor in April we have struggled at home all season
We haven't been able to break in to the top 4 all season .

Who said the players are crap. We need better fullbacks that for sure, a right winger which has been the case for ever. The current choices is a makeshift choice and not good enough. We are have too many injuries and too many games and the players are not performing at their best that's all. Its not the managers fault but we have limitations and fatigue when it comes to players.

We also need to buy CB's that are not constantly injured. Whether its bad luck or not Jones is nevr going to give you an honest season and smalling is not much better and neither can pass the ball more than 5 yards sideways, so if people want an attacking team, it starts with the back 4 being able to pass and add something.

Can't remember the last time one of our defenders scored from a corner which is quite strange BTW.
