Exhaustion at its paramount. When players like Valencia and Herrera look frustrated in the head and tired legs, you know the players are on last legs. The mind of the players is not working anymore. Thursday and Sunday routine catching up.

Shaw has run his race for United. First out of the door for me. Martial most likely to follow.

If the opposition goalkeeper doesn't have a wonderful game, our players do it for him. What a goal line save from Martial. Saved 2 points for Swansea.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that is not tiredness, that is mental from Jose constantly telling everyone they are tired. If they were that tired, why are they not given more time off training? The fault lies with the coaching staff if there is any tiredness there.}

Good stuff ed. It's all in the head. These guys are supposed to be prime athletes at the top of their fitness who get paid lots of money to be able to run 90 mins at least twice a week. Jose, as much as I like him is definitely making or has already made excuses for some of our poor performances.

We have to know most definitely beat both arsenal and Tottenham now as I believe the pool and city should still drop points.

But my god have we made it difficult for ourselves.

{Ed001's Note - Jose does this a lot, I don't understand it, he seems to prepare the excuses in advance.}

what was martial supposed to do go all x men and let the ball pass through him.

Shaw goes off after 10 minutes, with José saying it must be a big injury, and your first reaction is not, 'poor lad', or, 'unlucky there, fella'. It's, 'get him out the door'?

Is it really Ed? So there is only tiredness in the legs? How about tiredness in the mind? Weren't Liverpool tired last season? Play twice a week is ok for sometime but you can't be playing Thursday Sunday Thursday week in week out and not be tired. Yes it could be handled a little better no doubts but you simply cannot say the team didn't look tired given the number of games we have played this season and the number of injuries we have sustained.

{Ed001's Note - when have I ever said Liverpool were tired? I didn't see any signs of that either, not sure how they could be when the team was rotated so much, in the same way as United. Sorry but you can play twice a week, week in, week out and not be tired, if you are getting the right training and rest and recuperation. Clearly the club are handling it badly, which is no surprise as Jose has shown he would rather whine about things going against them than do something about it. How many of your players have played 50 games even? They just haven't. This is just an excuse for Jose's failings. Perhaps he should learn how to work with fitness coaches and medical staff instead of fighting with them and accusing the players of being wimps?}

Our team actually covers less ground per game than the majority of other teams in the league, so from a physical point of view less games more running or more games less running. It's swings and roundabouts.

I don't recall tiredness being mentioned during the chase for the treble, tiredness I feel is an excuse for some very slipshod displays by the players. Tiredness doesn't make you play very poor passes to team mates and somehow turn routine functions into a world class struggle. Jose should lay off talking to the press and giving statements such as the one he did today saying how proud he was of the players, we all know what we have witnessed and know it isn't good enough but to have the manager then praise that kind of performance then it doesn't fill anyone with confidence that anything will be done about it. There are some wage thieves at OT that ought to be found fresh pastures to ply their trade.

Yeah Stevie, that would have been my reaction if it were the first instance. Haven't most on here said the same about Jones? So why any different for Shaw? How many games has he played. He is either injured or unfit/ fat.

Ed, may be I have those rose tinted specs on but I see things a little differently. Have been a pro previously myself so may be coming from that direction, but I do sense exhaustion in the players. They have been run to the ground. Or may be we simply do not have the quality in the squad, but saying something like that and questioning the players ability rather than the manager and one can get slaughtered here.

{Ed001's Note - how on earth have they been run into the ground? If they are barely moving out of their own half in games. They have all had breaks in the season. If there is an issue, then it has to be down to the coach not getting them fit enough. Either way, there is no excuse for them to be tired.}

Georgie, how many games did we play Thursday - Sunday in the treble winning season?

30 Apr 2017 18:06:51
As team united have covered the least distance of any team in the Epl. It's not like the lads are killing themselves at the weekend.

30 Apr 2017 17:56:50
Offcourse they are exhausted. we are picking 11 players form 13 or 14 at the moment with games every 3 days for some time now. Arm chair quarterbacks obviously think they are machines and put some gas in them start the engine.

If we don't make top 4 it is what it is and i can get over it given the circumstances.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that is nonsense. Not even close to true. For starters there have been a lot more than 13 or 14 players used in the last few games, for second Jose always says it is better to run with a smaller squad. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the players other than a poor tactical set up failing to make the most of their strengths.}

30 Apr 2017 18:24:26
Sorry Ed, all respect for you, but your posts are coming from a Liverpool fan and not an impartial poster.

{Ed001's Note - I fail to see your point? I am far more impartial than you are, so why would you make a stupid comment like that?}

30 Apr 2017 18:59:11
Shan, you're wrong in this instance mate. Ed001 is about as unbiased as it comes. Although a die hard scouser, he leaves those colours at the door when speaking with opposition fans.

That's his job, that's why the site is so successful.

30 Apr 2017 19:42:43
Ed is unbiased as proved many times but that doesn't mean we have to agree. Shan isn't wrong, he just has a different opinion on the situation.
