On a different note, while Atkinson had no choice but to send Fellaini off, how did City players get away without bookings and especially with the rough treatment Rashford got?
Would love someone to tell me how many games Atkinson has refereed United and how many we actually won. Good job for Ed004!
At one stage, Herrera was being kicked by toure then fernandinho also kicked him and Atkinson didn't book either. Commentator somehow turned on Herrera by saying he's got a short fuse!

Not sure schmid but some times the home team get a little bit more of leniency.

God knows how many times we have got decisions at home or pressured the ref into decisions.

It's something I believe that swings in roundabouts, especially for teams at the top. It's the teams at the bottom I feel get harder done by in games, none more so than games against top 6 opposition.

I'm sure another decision will go in our favour before the season is done.

Fellaini lost the head, was played like a fiddle by aguero. But I can never fathom how and why players make the most of things.

Growing up, playing all kinds of sports, my coaches would have taken me off if I behaved like that. Such a shame players have to play act.

He was letting everything go in that first half it was refreshing in a way but problematic for our wimps. Trouble was City were the only team that realised they could capitalise on his leniency. We bottled it big time, every 50/ 50 they won and somehow if we got passed a man we panicked and gave it away the next instance. Never seen us hoof it so much and fail to pass accurately so much.

Ref was poor, but so was our mindset and passion. We looked like a team desperate to not get beat, as opposed to desperate to win. Pathetic for a Utd team in a derby, lady luck shone on us as we deserved to get beat. City were for the taking at the back, they looked at 6's and 7's on the rare occasions we tried to attack, missed opportunity yet again, embarrassing watching us play like Sunderland or WBA!

Talksport announced before the game that while refereeing United have won three and city have won one, didn't mention draws.

28 Apr 2017 10:02:47
I am sorry Beast, I didn't see it that way. We hardly gave anything to City for them to deserve a victory. Yes, we went in with a mindset of not getting beat, but the defending was top notch. Besides one close shave of the post for Aguero, all shots on goal were from a distance and nothing to disturb De Gea. Sane and KDB were not in the game at all. That says a lot for our players. Atleast appreciate that.

On another note, didn't see you here past couple of weeks when we beat Chelsea and Burnley. All ok?

28 Apr 2017 10:29:05
The problem with fans on this site is their expectation does not match reality. Yes Beast - I'm looking at you.

3 managers in 4 years. 3 different styles, 3 different types of players and 3 different back room teams. Will this not cause some instability in the team? 5 clubs have pushed on but we need to get our own house in order first. that's the first issue.

Jose has steadied the ship and the next two seasons will be key. Ins and outs are already planned.

I thought we would win last night but I am no way disappointed with a point, mid week, away, carrying injuries after a gruelling season, at one of our biggest rivals, is not a bad thing. This " But we are Manchester United" crap that gets thrown around here is frankly embarrassing. If you follow football and take off the rose tinted specs people have had on since 90's you will see we are exactly where we should be.

The negativity that is posted on this site is unreal. We all know Jose sets teams up not to lose and steal a win when we can. He played it perfect last night with what he had at his disposal. Get behind the team instead of constant moaning - that goes for a lot of people on this site. I've been on here for about 7 years and a lot of posters don't bother anymore. I imagine its due to exasperation with posters who just look for a row. So for the good of the site and the club - let's get behind the team for the last few matches and get some positivity flowing.

Shan - all good thanks.

See it how you like mate, but I bet your view is the same view as most underdogs take when playing the big boys if the come away with a point. That is my issue, we should have been more than a match for city, but treated the game like we were doing well not to get beat. I expect more from United, but alas it's something we need to get used to under this regime.

I'm just pleased City had an off day.

28 Apr 2017 10:44:09
3 different styles? Moyes and LVG would have been licking their lips at what Jose is doing, he is mastering how to park that bus whilst they could only come close to doing it.

Only slight difference is we concede posession easier under Jose, but have a few hundred million extra in quality to pull us out the mess from time-time. The defence at all costs approach has been installed firmly since SAF left.

Yeah we need to get our house in order, that is done by attempting to win matches in my eyes. The longer we adopt this "containment" approach the longer we will have to endure it and it becomes our default position against any decent team. We should not be embracing this, we were lucky to get a point in a real 6 pointer.

I'm behind the team mate, I'm just critical of our negative football as always - I'm as consistent as our team is dull on the eye! And for those posters that run away when anybody dare to put a pin to their delusional bubble it's a shame, but really this should be where we praise, criticise, suggest ideas and debate - not just be in a cult of BS. Praise or be gone is not healthy for the soul.

28 Apr 2017 10:56:59
Been very quiet while we have been winning well though Beast haven't you? 7 points from last 9 is great, I wouldn't want us playing in that style every week but we don't and never will, history says we got a point last night, we move on.

28 Apr 2017 10:57:30
"Not just be in a cult of BS. Praise or be gone is not healthy for the soul. "

Quality beast.

28 Apr 2017 11:28:45
So Beast let me ask you this. We line up 442 every week. Have that dynamic wing play that you lot have been banging on about the last few years. Then look at the team. The squads that was left and the buys and sales before Jose - and you think our team is up to that? We would get destroyed. Concede goals all the time.

Jose has come in with a job to do and so far - he has delivered with what he's got at his disposal. If top 4 comes - great but if not - we will next year. i don't doubt it.

You see negative football. I see clever football. Nullifying the other team and trying to use our players strengths to get a win. Fergie won 2 ECLs going gun ho. We all know it should have been more and that because he never had a plan B. Jose has A, B, C in his pocket.

Just because we are not winning 5-0 every week, does not mean we are not playing well. If you want attacking football and plenty of goals, go and watch Barcelona and Real in a poor league. This league is hard, tough and competitive. After the success we have all been spoiled with, some people have lost sight of the fact that there is a bigger football world than Manchester. We will come good. We are Manchester United. We are to big and powerful to do a liverpool but it won't happen over night. About 6 games left with our target in sight. I would have took that before a ball was kicked in August. Just try and post something positive now and again!

28 Apr 2017 11:38:02
How many times SAF did what Beast is asking for and we got blasted off the pitch by the opposition. There is a reason that SAF never got the better of Jose, or we lost two finals against Pep's Barcelona or lost to Bayern even though we were 3-0 up at half time. There is a place and team to have a go. How many of that starting 11 would you have had if everyone was available yesterday? In case you missed it, we had the better chances to win it yesterday. Its not Jose's fault that yet again we missed those. You cannot go for a fancy 3-0 victory over every team. If anyone heard Mkhi's interview right before the game, it was clear we never went for a victory as we weren't strong enough for City man to man. A patched up midfield, patched up defense. I think it was another of those, what is the famous phrase, oh yeah "Jose Masterclass".

28 Apr 2017 12:05:48
Lets not look back with rose tinted glasses either about the Furgeson reign like he was never defensive against the top teams.
Football was becoming more and more tactital towards the end of his career and i can remember a defensive display away to City which helped them win the league. 30th April 2012 we lost 1-0 nil and offered nothing going forward so at least it worked last night!

28 Apr 2017 13:14:24
absolutely chorltonred11

Park the bus might be a Jose phrase but SAF did more than his fair share of it.

28 Apr 2017 13:23:44
There is a happy middle ground to be found. This ultra defensive approach is anti-Utd, I'm afraid no amount of attempted persuasion will convince me otherwise. At times it's necessary to shut up shop, that isn't at kick off.

City have a far easier run in, we played well against Chelsea, yet we take a massive step backwards in awe of City - we had top 4 in our hands, now it's a big struggle imo.

28 Apr 2017 14:18:40
Thing is Beast it was not ultra defensive. Rashford could have been clean through on 3 occasions had the right ball come from Fellani and Martial, with the latter being back to normal last night and pretty poor, in the first half. Can't remember who failed to play him through on the other occasion. The 2nd half was poor going forward but we still got part of what we came for which was a point.
