Besides the obvious negatives of Fellaini's stupidity and parking the bus, I thought Bailly was immense today.

He showed a lot of quality and leadership in a big pressure match. He took a touch before clearing quite often, something Chris Smalling is incapable of. He was the one to calm Fellaini down before he did something even more ridiculous. And he was smart enough to draw a foul in the final minutes near the corner flag. He looked like a real leader back there today.

This "parking the bus" people moan about, annoys me to be honest. We came to be compact, and try to get something on the counter. With the players we had missing and the lack of quality we had a better chance of a result this way than going toe to toe. We got a good point away from home. I think it wa a good performance really and a good point.

Perfect appraisal Z.

7 points from Chelsea, Burnley and city we all would have given our mum's away for 11 days ago, great results, win Sunday it's ever better.

I think we can only say if it's a good point won or a lost opportunity at the end of the season when we know our final league position. Realistically we have to sometimes take a point and play solid if unattractive football because at the moment we are not the rampaging Man Utd of old but if the team progresses we may revert to the Fergie glory days type of football. Meantime let's not get too het up.

I agree with that stand. our midfield tonight wasn't at its strongest so Jose looked at it and said a draw here is better than a loss. our full backs didn't get forward. jose is working on our defence and in the summer when he can add a few players we will be in good stead next season.

I think its easy to say we should attack but we are knackered given the volume of games that we have played and are coming and the injuries are unreal.

I think whilst it was not pretty it was great result against a team that was pretty much full strength and always very tough at home. They created very little and whilst it was a lot huff and puff we looked very solid.

You have to play the cards you are dealt and I can only praise the team and the manager. If we win our next 2 games we will have great season. Something tells me if we can get through the next week or 10 days we might get some of the guys back from injury. The players are physically on their last leg.

I also think Atkinson is a disgrace. Rash got kicked around by Kompany and Ottamendi and he allowed that from the first whistle. He is POS ref and not fit to ref games like this. The kid will have a short career if refs like this d. h. d are selected for game sleek yesterday.

I would not swap our position {team performance and prospects) for where we were last season.

Good post Z. I think bailly was in a different league. I fully understand that we had to play defensively with all the injuries, but I get a feeling we would've done that even if the injured players were available. I don't mind playing defensively when it is required but we have to have some ambition. Last night, particularly in 2nd half, we showed no ambition at all.
I'm looking forward to a United team going away to places like city and Liverpool and having a go, even if it is on the counter.
Agree with X that Atkinson is the worst referee out there. And there are a few bad ones.

A point is a point, missed a chance to go into the top 4 last night which is something we have done all season .
Only time will tell but these draws may well cost us .
we set up exactly the same as we did against the scouse away and got the same result . and that was with a full team .
We showed what the team was capable off against Chelsea only the other week, playing a great brand of football against the best team in the league, a better team than City.

City haven't been great, we are not talking about a madrid or Munich in fact if we had beat them we would of went above them in the league .
And they are 100% beatable .
They had just been beat by arsenal on Sunday and had to play 120 minutes, and have won 2 of there last 8 games .

If Jose had done that with a team against us he would be getting called anti football now .

Only time will tell if it was a good point or if it was a chanced missed .

Good post jred. Have to agree with all of that.

Yep, jred. Spot on, mate.

We've not the players to go all out attack against city, Jose had a plan and it worked and it's a good point, he's a master at it, if we put away the lesser teams like we should have by playing the expressive football we have and then got these big games unbeaten like we have done in the main even if it's compact or 'boring' I don't see the problem, we can't always have 30 shots a game, football is about varying tactics, I'm grateful we have more than one way of playing and can mix it up.

wrd
who said all out attack?

28 Apr 2017 10:11:25
May be some people missed it, but we had the two best opportunities in the game, Mkhitaryan and Herrera. If one of those had gone in, we would have been cheering 3 points. But yes, no one dare question Ander (Fantasy) Herrera and Mkhi.
