Ed Woodward has sacked every manager who hasn't qualified for the champions league the following year. I think it is a clause written in their contracts. Do you think Jose get the Bullitt if we don't finish 4th or win the Europa. Personally i think he should stay, we need some kind of stability to progress. Plus the style of football has been better.

{Ed002's Note - LvG was forced out by the toxic fans - the club had no intention of sacking him and had his eventual replacement agreed already. There are no such clauses in the contracts of the managers.}

Agree1 Disagree1

Give it Giggsy until the end of the season 😉

On that note, what's he up to does anyone know? Not heard his name mentioned recently.

Didn't media report that we had a similar clause in moyes's contract, otherwise utd would have had to pay him a lot big compensation?

{Ed002's Note - The settlement was negotiated upon league position - but that is far from what is being suggested by the other poster.}

Thanks for replying Ed002, I may have got the clause element wrong, but from what I read at the time wasn't that how we sacked Moyes without paying out all his contract. Could you also please tell me how some 'toxic fan's' can force the manager out. i'm not being sarcastic, I just can't understand how these so called toxic fan's have more clout than Ed Woodward or the Glaziers if they had no intention of getting rid of him.

{Ed002's Note - The contract provided for negotiation for any cancellation or termination based on league position - and they negotiated an exit. The whole issue of LvG was dealt with at length on these pages - the toxic fans costing the club a lot of money and an assured future. I have no intention of going through it all again.}

Thank you Ed002 for you insight.

Thanks for clarification Ed002: guess there are many arguments from different points of view over the whole "toxic" label, particularly at a club like United where we've been used to success and the realisation that we have to build again can be hard to swallow) but thank you for all your insights about transfers, so very much appreciated by all of us on this transfer page, as know you don't want to get involved in any debates, just are good enough to provide info only. Guess the Banter page is a more appropriate forum for the whole toxic debate!

So looking forward to your Sharkopod - thank you in advance for any spare time you might have!

{Ed002's Note - I am behind with them due to my being in foreign lands until the weekend, and this week being very busy with stuff - next Tuesday is a possibility.}

Isn't this jose's first season. So your predicting what happens in 12 months time.

Thank you Ed, know you are so busy!

None of this really sits right with me. (I 100% believe all of this imformation btw) Ed002 said Allegri would take over in the summer of 2017, sign a 5 year contract up until his retirement in 2022. The board obviously made this meticulous plan, well thought out securing our future for a further 7 years in advance.

The forsight for this decision should be applauded. They seeked out Massimiliano Allegri, met his representatives and I'd imagine agreed a verbal contract for this time line to take place.

So come to the festive period of 2015. We have a woeful run of results playing some pretty awful stuff and free fall down the table from 2nd to 6th in a matter of weeks. Obviously the fans are going to be upset. Now obviously we're not privy to the posts that get deleted on here for whatever reason and I'd say a lot of them are vitriolic nonsense but I don't remember the crowds at Old Trafford turning that sour. Yes factions were chanting for Giggs and there was booing at the end of the games we dropped points in but again, nothing I could see that was excessive in terms of abuse.

Which leads in to the January transfer window of 2016. My memory might be a little off but we had 2 deals pretty much done and just needed the go ahead to be completed. Saul Niguez was one I think and maybe a winger? So LvGs minimum requirements were to fish in the top 4. After a pretty torrid Christmas period with the fans downtrodden, two new signings might have galvanised the team and giving the fans the shot in the arm we needed. The board show that they're backing their manager, the fans get two new players and the team gets a boost going into the vital run in.

So here's what doesn't make sense to me. The board put in place a well thought out plan for the stewerdship of our club for the next seven years. The section of the fans were in revolt but we were still only 10/ 12 points off the TOP of the league, in the F. A cup and in the Europa league.

So here's where i'm flummoxed. You either back the manager or you sack the manager. To pull out of those deals to spite the toxic fans is nothing short of gross negligence. And then leave LvG there like a plucked duck waiting for the orange sauce wasn't right either. We sign those two players in January and we finish in the top 4. LvG gets his last season and Allegri takes over, masterplan completed. But by the sounds of things the board got petty and in the end, everyone went away feeling like crap.
LvG gets sacked the night we win the F. A cup. The fans don't get champions league football we grave and the boards plan they put in place was unachievable and they signed Jose who they weren't too fond of.

Weird turn of events that alwas intrigued me . Sorry for the long posts folks. Enjoy the rest of your day!
