Just baffling. Everyone else can see that Lingard and Fellaini just aren't good enough for a team hoping to be. in the top four and eventually compete in europe. Yet, JM seems intent on keeping such mediocrity around for the foreseeable future. Lingard signs a new deal today, Fellaini rumored to get an extension soon, and all of our rivals relieved at our willingness to continue putting out mid-table talent.

It's a squad game and as a support player lingard is good enough. He is still young and Mourinho obviously sees someone he can work with.
I'm happy he is staying.

Both are good enough for the squad, the first team will be improved in the summer.

Im happy they are both staying.

Fellaini as a squad/ sub player is exactly what we need when we need to change the dynamic of a game. He is not wrld class, but he is what top teams need on the bench.

Lingard? can't fault the lad. Again not wrld class but he has youth in his side and he has got chance to. Etter himself. Always puts a shift in and has only teally scored a few important winners so .

If the reported wages of 100k are anywhere near the truth it is no wonder we can't get a half decent fee for our outgoing players, who on earth pays that much to someone like lingard.

Its not just lingard CSM and its not just UTD.

I'm not saying i don't like Lingard, the kid tries hard, and every once in a while scores a cracker. But he'll never be good enough to be a regular contributor to United. And he's not that young anymore. As for Fellaini, he sabotages every part of our team, the attack, defense, possession, etc. He's an anchor holding back the other 10 players, and is a gaping black hole regardless of which team has the ball. I'm all for squad players, but you think Fellaini makes the squad of any other big European club? He wouldn't.

06 Apr 2017 21:04:15
He can make the Belgian national team, which isn't too shabby.

And they lose when they play him. Do yourself a favor and look at the results for united. Figure the points per match with and without Fellaini. It's like a full point difference. If you want to make money, just bet on United not to win anytime Fellaini plays. You could buy the club itself after a few seasons of those wagers! It's the opposite of the run Carrick was on for the last three seasons, in which we earned about a point a game more when he played than when he didn't.

I have no issue with JL and MF staying. If we got rid of everyone who wouldn't get into the '99, '08 and other successful teams inbetween then the doors at Old Trafford would be constantly revolving during transfer windows.

As many have said, it's a squad game and I for one feel MF offers something different from the bench for the times when going direct late on is essential and Jose knows what he'll get from JL as a squad player, plus it's good to at least have a few squad players who have come through the ranks.

Versatility is another advantage and for that reason I also hope Ashley Young and Daley Blind stick around.

All of that said. The first eleven needs improving for next season, for sure.

Absolutely fine with lingard getting a new contract, won us an fa cup final and contributed heavily in two other victories at wembley.

As for fellaini, he needs to retire from football.

I'm a big believer in having a squad full of players who you can use for a Plan B or a Plan C, should the need arise.

07 Apr 2017 06:50:14
If we had taken that stance during fergies time we wouldn't have had players such as John O'Shea, berg, blomqvist and so on.

Players like fellaini and lingard are very important to us.

Very unfair imo I think felliaini has done very little wrong this season I also believe the manager trusts and respects him so I doubt he will go anywhere.

As for lingard all I ever see on this site is people calling for our youth to be given a chance so they can break into the first team, lingard had been here since he was an embryo, been out on loan numerous occasions and fought his way into the squad he works his knackers off every game (which is more than can be said for some) and is a red through and through so I'm personally chuffed for the lad and the club.

We cannot just keep going out and buying shiny new players 2/ 3 per window maybe depending on outgoings but we need players like lingard and felliaini for the squad.

Absolutely Deano!

07 Apr 2017 12:14:38
I'd rather keep the wig and Lingard than Zlatan and Rashford if I'm being honest.

07 Apr 2017 15:59:01
Rashford is a time thing, imo given time he could be fabulous and Ibra well without him I don't know where we would be this season but moving forward maybe someone a bit more mobile. All I know is we are 30 goals away from being all conquering so in þhe summer that should be priority.
