Just watched the highlights of the game. If we didn't know better, the press, BBC (scouse obsessed) will gave you think we played the worst game ever. What I saw was us creating chances and missing them, hitting the bar twice, being on the wrong end of a disallowed goal decision, being on the wrong end of some strange refereeing decisions.
I think we're not getting the rub of the green and that is frustrating. But this will change. Let's not lose faith.
To compare this with last year's lvg team is plainly ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more.

I must have been watching a different show, NM. Danny Murphy stated that we had been by far the better team, and that we hadn't been getting the rub of the green in some of our home games. No disputes over the offside goal, either. I think this media bias thing, is just another distraction technique from some of our fans, along with poor refereeing, to try and cloak some pretty uninspiring performances.

Iv not watched motd but I did watch it on bt live on Tues nite the commentary was awful so bias toward everton almost willing us to loose.
It's not paranoia or deflecting attention from our performances it's a observation about media bias against our club.

{Ed001's Note - that is not media bias against your club (for starters Sky TV were shareholders for years and so it is ludicrous to suggest they have ever been biased against you), it is simply that the media want the big viewing figures. A Man Utd win is expected and not going to generate the future viewing figures for sports news shows and panel dicussion shows etc that an Everton win would. Imagine how much a Mourinho meltdown or similar is worth to sports news shows or those call in shows etc. The media always want was is best for them.}

So what your saying Ed is that the media can't wait for us to lose so they can generate their viewing figures. I call that "bias".

{Ed001's Note - I have explained why they were excited by the idea of an Everton win, that is not bias, they are not supporting Everton, just talking more about that possibility as it is better for the viewing figures. I give up, football fans like you are obsessed with everyone being against you when you are the very last club in world football who should have the cheek to make that complaint. Done with this convo. It is ridiculous. The media want United winning trophies, as people will watch that, that creates huge viewing figures, but they also want you to lose odd matches to create controversy. There is no bias against you, quite the opposite, which is why the TV screens are constantly filled with them talking about your team. Typical big club fans whining over nothing, its pathetic.}

Ed, I agree with what you are saying. Even the guys heading the Premier League have admitted that the reason the League is so widely viewed is because they are able to package it in that manner. Bigger teams losing to underdogs, underdogs winning the PL, it can, to be very honest, happen only here.

But, on the other hand, there have been times, when the media (by this I mean experts and other players who call themselves experts) will not miss a chance to blow things out of proportion and show United are a situation of doom and gloom.

As far as the decisions are going, it's been poor throughout the season, obviously, we will feel worse when they go against our teams, but as a whole, the standard has been quite poor.

{Ed001's Note - it is bias for you though, because otherwise they wouldn't mention you. Look at Blackpool, or Leyton Orient, both clubs are going through major problems yet it is barely even mentioned in the media. Big clubs get all the coverage, there is no bias against, it is all biased for. Just because it is sometimes not something we as fans like, does not make it biased against our team.}

06 Apr 2017 08:19:13
It's mentioned because the experts and even the media will always like to talk about a "big club" in a problem or a "big club" not performing up to the standard. You yourself mentioned how the media thrives on viewership and what better way to do it than to show one of the biggest clubs in turmoil?

And I wouldn't call this bias, I'd call this marketing their own channel or platform to earn revenue from it.

{Ed001's Note - spot on.}

06 Apr 2017 08:19:51
So true ed, media is a business and they will create stories which will sell and it works in most cases as its working now since we are talking about it.

{Ed001's Note - exactly why I hate this kind of convo as it just feeds them more and makes them do it more.}

06 Apr 2017 09:14:48
This constant whining about the big, bad old media. It just makes us sound like Scouse fans. I'd hate to think we'd ever dropped so low, that I'd have to start shouting about Robbie Savage or some other no-mark, making a bad comment about my club. Focus on what's in front of us, rather than waste time dealing with imaginary bogeymen.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, Savage does deserve any abuse he gets! That guy is a complete parody.}

06 Apr 2017 09:19:35
It works the other way as well as soon as we have a few good games the team and manager are world class.

There are managers doing wonders on a shoe string but if United win a few Jose is back to world class .

There are players at mid table teams who should of been in the England team years ago, if you have 2 good games in a row for United your straight in the England team .

06 Apr 2017 11:01:47
I thought both teams looked pretty average to be honest.

Ed001, the fact that idiot has a serious job on sports tv coverage, makes me truly despair at how low we have sunk into the morass of celebrity culture. His hair is lovely, tho.

{Ed001's Note - it says a lot about how they are dumbing down everything.}
