While I thought we were poor last night I still think our bad results are down to us not taking our chances. WE had 4 or 5 good chances but missed or hit the woodwork I think the players confidence is low after the last few seasons and it's affecting our finishing.

So we are to believe that zlatan's bad finishing and pogba's insistence to hit the woodwork rather than between the posts is down to our last few seasons, you are really scraping the bottom to defend jose here my friend. People were quick to put any and every blame on lvg, it seems the standards have suddenly changed haven't they.

05 Apr 2017 12:43:57
Think the difference is that United wouldn't have even had a shot, nevermind hit the post, under lvg.

Common sense, people were on the back of LVG because we would have 2 shots per game under him. Jose can't take responsibility for constant poor finishing and missed chances. They players have to take the blame for the lack of goals. Think you need a name change.

Irishred, Commonsense. Our bad finishing is nothing to do with the positions we've finished in the last 3 seasons or Jose being manager.

It's something that needs working n more in training and it's more down to bad luck than any manager or league position. What a strange couple of things to blame it on.

Agreed Stand. The finishing is the worst I've seen of a United side in years. Even the 70s teams finished better than these lot. Aren't we leading the stats for hitting the woodwork. More than any team in Europe.
Also, shots per game stats are the 3rd best in the league.
Did Zlatan not score a perfectly good goal which was wrongly disallowed?

why is that stand, i get it if we could blame only ibrahimovic or pogba for their bad finishing but everyone has been guilty of poor finishing this season, everyone be it mata, martial, rashford, rooney did not just turn into to bad finishers over night did they, much of the blame must go to the coaching staff for not sorting this out and by extension the guy who heads the coaching staff in this case mourinho. Also i don't solely blame mourinho for this as individual players also have to take most of the responsibility for their bad finishing, my post was more a tongue in cheek comment regarding OP's blaming lvg and moyes for our bad finishing this season.

That was partly the issue tho CSM, everyone is to quick to jump on the negative nelly bandwagon. I agree we've been poorer of late but we can't keep slating the manager or calling for change yearly, none of us know what it takes to manage United, he's clearly got a big job on his hands that's going to take a few windows, let the man do his job, get his own players in who can implement what he wants on the pitch as there is an alarming number of players at the club who should not be, who don't posses what it takes to implement Jose's wishes, who are quite frankly not good enough, but in the meantime let's get behind the manager and the squad, not be on their backs like past seasons, this season was never going to be easy no matter how much we spent due to how much we mispent in previous years.

The positive is fine margins are what separate us from being challenging.

The number of draws we have had is concerning but with upgrades this summer we should expect better chance conversion and better defending.

I personally don't think Rashford is good enough at the moment and needs a loan next season.

One thing I noticed last night is off the ball movement is very static and people making runs either to create space or to show for the ball is low. Only Jesse Lingard seemed to show tempo and movement.

I also thing the front are slow to press and we give the opposition an easy game.

If we can upgrade in some key areas we will be fine next season but we are going to hit a trigger point soon where Europa is priority.

Chances are up on the LVG years, but the style of football has been depressingly similar. Sideways and backwards.

05 Apr 2017 16:41:31
Stevie,

Do you actually believe that? Go and have a look at some games from last season and then look at the game from last night, it's like chalk and cheese.

Oh, come on, GDS. Are you seriously telling me, that apart from the odd game here and there, that we've been enjoyable to watch for the most part? Last night just highlighted how slow and predictable our tactics are. Two holding midfielders at home to the mighty West Brom? Bringing on 6 defenders to shore up a lead at home against another mighty mid-table team? I don't even know why I'm surprised, tho. Yes, Jose is a winner, and I hope he comes good, but, like LVG, his football has never been good to watch. And like LVG, I'm starting to worry that we've got Jose as his powers are waning.

to be honest Jose summed it up months ago, how he wished he started with zero instead of inheriting a team from LVG. however some of Jose's tactical decisions are baffling.
