Since Luke Shaw has been a big topic of discussion today. Some of you including me would want him gone if he isn't pulling his weight (which atm is probably difficult for him to do) what LBs are we showing interest in

Cheers.

I think Tierney could be a quality replacement. But I'm sure if Jose were to sell shaw then he would also bring in somebody with a bit more experience.

The latest news seems to indicate Shaw asked for a meeting with Jose at 10am this morning and has returned to tomorrow's squad. There should be no doubt, the manager must be supported in this, if a player is not pulling his weight to the point where other players are saying he isn't helping himself, the manager has to be firm.

It's up to Shaw, can he find the fitness and attitude of the beginning of last season, if he does then he gets the left back spot.

03 Apr 2017 20:32:40
Totally agree redman. That goes for every single player.

03 Apr 2017 20:31:23
Agree redman is up to him.

{Ed004's Note - Agree with Red Man as well. We all saw the player Shaw could be at the start of last season before that horror injury. Unfortunately, this season looks like a write off as well but hoping he can build on his technical gameplay for the rest of the season and after a proper preseason and the remaining month or two of this season can build up his fitness. That interview from Jose didn't look like one were he was trying to sell a player for a maximum fee but to give him a kick up the arse and get him to pull the finger out. Hopefully Shaw has responded positively and is in the squad tomorrow (doubt he starts) however next season we will need cover and competition. I think Tierney and Mendy have been mentioned and I'd be delighted with either}

Tierny would be great as cover for Shaw many believe he has Tyne ability to be better.
Mendy is not cover he is the best I've seen for a while so of he comes Shaw is gone.

{Ed007's Note - Tierney as cover for Shaw? lmfao Stay off the glue, Ken.}

04 Apr 2017 00:30:36
Mendy is very good, and has shown it in some big CL games. He is athletic and a willing attacker. We have had almost no pace or overlapping from the left this season.

04 Apr 2017 05:39:42
Tierney is allready a better player than Shaw on every level if you ask me. Great talent and if anything i think Ronny Deila should have a pat on the shoulder for some of his development.

04 Apr 2017 06:54:46
They all look good in that Scottish league norwegianred 😂.

04 Apr 2017 07:28:51
I am guessing the majority of us get our info from the mainstream media - few have inside knowledge as far as I can see -reading the comments above on Shaw although I agree with most of what's been written regards him having to buck up, i'm also reading for the last 2-3 months (again this morning tabloids) that he himself has no intention of staying anyway and hasn't for some time now. If that is true it can be another reason he isn't getting playing time .

04 Apr 2017 08:40:33
Hehe, Angelred. Well, you should take a look at the norwegian leauge then.
:D
Joking aside, i saw a great deal of Celtic games last season cause they where sent live on norwegian tv and Thierney is a talent that would be a upgrade to Shaw, for his workrate, his cleverness.
Only issue is he may be to young for Mourinho atm.

But a hell of a talent, no doubt.

I don't think Tierney is ready to play every week in the EPL for a club the size of United. The pressure he would get from the sheer exposure of playing for us would be an unfair burden for him. I think he is at the best club for his development at this stage. In a couple of years time he will probably have to move to a league where he will face top players in opposition every week, but for now the experience of playing for a team like Celtic will give him a great grounding.

{Ed004's Note - But ideally he wouldn't have to play week in week out as he would be competing with hopefully a fit Luke Shaw}

04 Apr 2017 10:41:21
Accidentally sent too soon. Lol.

As for other LB options, Mendy seems to be the top pick atm. I can see why, there is a lot to like. Strong, quick and athletic. Solid defensively and very good on the overlap. Also we did well with the last french full back we bought from Monaco.

Other options could include Ricardo Rodriguez, Jose Gaya Ghoulam and Guerreiro.

Although I wouldn't want to right off Luke Shaw just yet, although with several managers questioning his level of commitment it looks like he will need a serious turn around in attitude to make it at the highest level.

04 Apr 2017 11:20:56
tierney as cover? kenneth are you bashing the guinness over there in gods own country? our second choice left back izaguirre is even better than shaw lol. as much as im also a united fan just leave young tierney where he is my friend lol.

04 Apr 2017 11:30:34
there isn't any difference in the size of celtic and united, both are massive clubs.

04 Apr 2017 12:12:59
hahaha.

04 Apr 2017 12:38:38
How can you say there is no difference in size between United and Celtic whilst keeping a straight face.?

04 Apr 2017 14:00:40
come up and sample the atmosphere wazza, especially on a champions league night, you won't be able to hear yourself think, unlike at old trafford where you can hear someone rustling a sweetie paper from the other end of the ground.

04 Apr 2017 14:15:00
Don't get the noise in the stadium confused for the stature of the club james. If that's the case there would be clubs all over the world comparing themselves with united.

Celtic is big, but nowhere near the stature of United.

04 Apr 2017 14:19:30
James -So the size of a club is measured by the volume generated inside the stadium :/ that's a new one on me.

I always thought it was based more on History, Revenue, fans.

04 Apr 2017 15:35:36
That means Stoke City are one of the best in Europe!

04 Apr 2017 16:44:00
worlieee, history? you do know celtic won the european cup before united don't you?

04 Apr 2017 16:45:39
angelred, celtic had the biggest ground in britain before united extended OT to cater for the glory hunters.

06 Apr 2017 21:12:38
Again James, still doesn't make it the same size as club.

West ham have a big ground too 😂.
