If Jose doesn't like Shaw, then fair enough. Just tell him that and let him find a club. But what's the point in casting aspersions on his reputation, if you're looking to sell him? I don't understand that. Hardly going to get other teams interested, and we'll end up having to sell him at a much-reduced price. Tell him he can go, but at least keep quiet in public, and help keep some of his re-sale value.

I agree, Shaw however obviously can't take a hint, blunt as it was. You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

We can't understand just how frustrated Jose is. The closest thing we can do to relate is think of a member of staff or colleague who's always in a bad mood, is a cancer to the work force and does the minimum required every day. We all know one, and it seems Shaw is that person at United. I've always backed Shaw but it's getting embarrassing now. There's whispers team mates aren't happy with him as well so this to me says last chance saloon. Buck up or get out.

I think Jose is trying to get a reaction from the lad so that he can make it at utd. Just the way he has with other players.

Shaw earns a ton of money and is playing for one of the biggest clubs in world football. If he can't give 100% and behave as a top professional should with regards to looking after his general health, then I can see why Jose is annoyed with him.

The club can't afford to carry players anymore. If they are unable to hack it or unable to produce the goods on a consistent basis then they should be shown the door. Simple as that IMO.

I agree top. he has probably tried everything else. Add I said earlier be is in last chance saloon. He could appear in a couple of weeks and be great and get a new contract. Then Jose has can tell him that he was right and that he listened.
If he fails to step up then Jose will sell him knowing he tried to make it work.

03 Apr 2017 18:26:26
Jose strikes me as the type who absolutely demands a fully committed squad, meaning that with 25 players, having 24 out of 25 that will do anything to win is not good enough for him. He wants every last player buying in to what he preaches and then he will go to war with his team. Shaw listening in bemused or half-interested is intolerable for Jose, if these stories are true. On the other hand, if a guy like Ashley Young waits his turn a good while and then gets a start and does his job well, Jose will tell the player he was fantastic, and vital to the team. You are in and you are out.

03 Apr 2017 18:38:23
You're missing my point, lads. If his face doesn't fit, then fine. That's Jose's prerogative. But if he want's rid of him, why harm his re-sale value by telling everyone he's rubbish! They'll not exactly queue up if they think he's a lazy so and so, which sort of defeats the purpose if you're trying to get rid of him.

Topbomin what other players, frankly jose mourinho's man management this season has left a lot to be desired, some players like zlatan or pogba may as well shoot someone on the pitch and he will not say anything negative about them, but let mkhi or martial or in this case shaw do anything wrong and he is quick to point out in media and what has been the end result, pogba has been poor with no improvement, mkhitarayan and martial are still hit and miss, shaw by the looks of it is on the way out.

03 Apr 2017 18:50:09
Nou, perhaps it isn't about money. Jose's latest comments are desperate. Jose doesn't care about the money / re-sale value. Jose cares that his players are committed. Losing money on a player is not an issue these days.

03 Apr 2017 18:53:23
Your point is well taken, Noucamp, but maybe Shaw's omission is not so much of a mystery to anyone anymore. Managers know he has the talent, they will know if he is hurt or not, so they will have to inquire as to why he is not playing. Jose would be fooling no one by saying he is a great lad, training hard, but he just prefers the electric pace of Daley Blind or bombing forward of Matteo Darmian. I agree about not slating a player publicly, but Jose seems to have chosen the more confrontational style.

He could just say nothing, Zidaniel.

{Ed025's Note - fair point mate..

I understand your point stevie. I think Jose is right on this to be honest. I think its his last throw of the dice to get the player back on track. If it works everyone is a winner. If it doesn't I'm not sure it will effect his price too much. It's not unknown that he has been injured and is not in great shape and if he is not in the squad Amy potential buyer will know why.
It's a calculated risk it's his management style I quite like it. This kid is earning a fortune he has talent and is not maximising it. It's his last warning and chance if he responds great if he has not got the right character then we don't want him. We will get a fair price which will be a fraction of what we paid given the lad has hardly played for 3 seasons. What Jose says will make little difference to the price at this stage imo.

In the same interview Jose also said that had Pogba or Ibra been in the team v WBA there was no guarantee that anything would have been different. Everyone has ben missing chances, including - specifically - Ibra missing that penalty. I think Jose tells it like he sees it. That may be more than the fragile egos of the spoiled millionaires playing today can bear.
