Slightly disappointing performance yesterday, really needed to win yesterday, still a chance of a top 4 but they making hard on themselves

Interesting with all the stuff Mourinho has said in the last few days, looks like their a number of players who are not at the United and Mourinho required level to make it here, personally looks like Mourinho "jedi mind powers" are taking place in that he slowly rebuilding the team in his image.

Only slighly disappointing?

I thought we were quite poor and short of any ideas. Lots off huff and puff but evident we are a team dependent a few key man and the second string can't win games against decent opposition even at home.

I think we have a team that struggles without Ibrahmovic present, we a team without leaders who can grab the game by the horns and grind a result, Mourinho will address it over the summer

I won't be surprise if we see the likes of Persic, Lindeof, Manolas, Kroos players who are Mourinho players come in this summer, it's obvious that the players come before Mourinho can't do the job, sorry to be harsh but just stating facts, only a handful of players I would keep.

X files, Zlatans goal have papered over a lot of cracks in the squad.
Initially I believed that some of the likes of Rooney, Smalling, Fellaini, Valencia, Young and Carrick should be kept but I'm beginning to think we need to sell most our old guard.

Simply because they are all 6/ 10 players. Martial is having bad games and his form is suffering but he still has quality and can improve, same for Rashford.
I really think we must sell 5-6 of our old squad players and rebuild.

Its been 3 seasons of this atrocious football from some players. We have lowered our standards and I am. very pro selling them as never make any progress.
Personally, I'll sell Rooney, Young, Smalling, Carrick and Januzaj (with a buyback clause) . We need to learn how to play games without Carrick holding as we all know he's really really good but is he world class? Was he ever?

That was our 8th draw at home .
The other 7 that ibra Mata and pogba etc played in where just as bad .

You can't make the excuse we drew because x y or z are missing because we have played just as bad with them .
We are 5th in the table not because of yesterday but because of all the other draws.
How much time have we spent in the top 4 this season .

I expect come next weekend JM will start wrapping a few in cotton wool for the Europa and more or less make it obvious the top 4 has gone.

If I remember correctly I got 11 of those thumbs down on my comment after the lpool home game (pogbas handball) when I said we would finish 5 as there were at least 4 better teams than us in the league - that is still the case now.

We are slow, often lacking any penetration by getting in behind defences and our finishing woeful.

I am more optimistic about next year but I really don't get all the whinging about us blowing our top 4 chances if we don't do this and that - our chance was gone weeks ago when we showed time and time again we can't finish games off. a small worry for the Europa league where there might not be many chances in games.

Under Moyes and LVG we got embarrassing loses. Embarrassing draws is a step up. ;)

Liverpool are in a false position due to games played. We are still well and truly in a fight for top four. We won't be if the whole club simply throws the towel in because it looks difficult.

Lfc fan in peace. There's still a long way to go regarding top 4 and we have a history of shooting ourselves in the foot so I'm taking absolutely nothing for granted. However when u say we're in a false position because of games played, yes we have played more but we've played all of the top 6 maybe 7 home and away, I believe you still have a fair few of the big boys to play.

03 Apr 2017 09:48:22
True, but then haven't you guys got a better record against the top teams but struggle to beat the lesser lights? Also your demanding style of play may catch up with some of your players before the end of the season. Injuries and tired legs could be your down fall.

I feel the top three are pretty much locked, Chelsea, Spurs and City have consistently played the best football and got the results to match. That leave us Liverpool and Arsenal fighting it out for 4th place.

It'll be an interesting finish to the season but if I'm honest I'd rather win the Europa league than get 4th place. There's glory in winning trophies but not in finishing 4th. The only point in finishing 4th is to get UCL football but you get that for winning the Europa league anyway.

"We’ve had matches here with Zlatan that we drew. He lost [missed] a penalty in a game to win it 2-1 [against Bournemouth]. He lost chances like other people did too, so I cannot say now that if Zlatan and Mata played today [against West Brom], we win the game. I cannot say that. I cannot say that at all.

"What I can say is that Jones and Smalling, they would not play better than Bailly and Rojo did. Pogba and Herrera could not play better than Fellaini and Carrick did. That I can say for sure. "Jose.

Yes snappy, you're absolutely right about the teams we have struggled against- that's why I'm really not taking a single thing for granted! You're in a similar mindset to us last year with regards the Europa league, except you have better prospects of 4th than we did. I'd much rather win the trophy than finish 4th but I would issue some caution with that. Klopp basically wrote off top 4 and put all his eggs into the europa league and we just couldn't quite get over the line. In some ways it's worse for you I think cause 4th place is definitely not gone, what do I see Jose doing when the games come back round and you have a prem game at the weekend?

03 Apr 2017 10:55:25
Shappy, City are hardly nailed on for a 3rd place finish. Have u seen how they defend? They make LFC's defenders look world class at times, plus the fighting instinct and grit is simply not there during Pep's time at City. They will finish 4th i think. LFC will get 3rd place imo. 5 wins out of the remaining 8 games and we will be over the finish line for a 3rd place finish. The other clubs fighting for UCl qualification have many games against each other so lots of points will be dropped in those games which gives LFC a big advantage.

Indian makes a good point, a lot of the teams around the scouse play each other so will drop points.
