I see everyone wants to sign a CM as one of the priority signings this summer. My question is where does that leave Hererra? Personally I love the lad, and other than maybe Tony Valencia, he has been out best player this season. I genuinly think he's captain material. Pogba will improve, and won't be dropped, so if we were to sign a Kroos etc that would mean dropping Ander. Is everyone happy for this to happen as I want Ander in the side?

Plenty of options lots of games so we need good options not just a 1st 11, more quality players the better for me.

I think in a 433 he still gets games. I would prefer us to sign a CDM to give the back four more protection and allow Pogba more freedom to push up, that leaves Herrera as box to box linking defence and attack. I rate him highly. He or the CDM may lose out if we play a no.10 against weaker teams but I don't think you get the best out of Pogba with a no.10 in front of him.

Surely Kroos replaces Carrick? Stroll around in front of the back four picking it a pass whilst Herrera and Pogba roam up and down.

Kroos comes in I don't care who's dropped. He's on another level to anything we have in terms of bossing a football match.

Difficult to fit Miki, Ander, Kroos, Pogba in the same team. But not impossible if Miki plays wide right of front three.
But then difficult to fit Martial, Rashford, and a central striker in Ibra or, say, Lukaku/ Kane etc in fullness of time.
I wonder if Pogba, Herrera and Miki could play as midfield three. Against most teams they would be very effective.
If only we had back up players of the standard of Eric Double-D, Davide Bellion, Quentin Fortune, these would be easier decisions every week 😂.

I think it's really about options. Atm we have Pogba and Herrera, if they aren't fit or suspended then our back up currently is Carrick, Fellaini and Blind with maybe TFM.
Out of those options Carrick is getting older, Fellaini is limited in what he can do, Blind has yet to be given a run out in midfield by Mourinho so maybe Mourinho doesn't rate Blind in midfield. Then we have TFM who is still just a kid and shouldn't be relied on.
So I think it's safe to say we need another quality option to rotate and to provide competition. People complain about Pogba playing every game yet there isn't a better option available.
Personally I'm of the view of not wanting Kroos. I know that probably puts me in the minority. I just don't see him as a Mourinho midfielder. Kroos is most similar to Carrick out of our current options. Mourinho certainly doesn't see Carrick as first choice so why by a player who plays in a similar way? All be it at a higher standard.
I expect Mourinho to look for a midfield destroyer, someone in the mould of Makelele, Cambiasso, Khedira and Magic.
Hard working, defensively sound and tactically intelligent player to sit in midfield to plug the gaps and mop up in front of the back four. Someone who can release Pogba of some of his defensive burden.
I expect us to switch between a 433 and a 4231 next season by either playing a No.10 or dropping them for a more defensive midfielder to shore up the centre of the pitch.

My point is that unless Pogba is going to play 10 (Mkhitarian) , then you can't fit a new CM, Pogba and Hererra in the same side. Would any of Pogba, Kronos, Hererra be happy benched? We need to play Mkhitarian at number 10.

I can see Bakayoko or some other destroyer coming in to win the ball for Ander and Pogba to then do the business 😆😆.

If we are to play 3 in midfield my ideal selection would be any 3 from pogba herrera Kroos and fabhino or bakayoko. those 4 backed up by fellaini and tfm that leaves 6 for 3 positions.
In a 60 game campaign that leaves 40 starts for each of the main 4 and 20 for the 2 back up players. Very few players start more than 40 games in any top club.

I think the key point is that we can't play Pogba in a midfield 2 against good teams, because he doesn't seem to track back when HE SHOULD. So we will always play Pogba as a 10 or in a midfield 3 against top level teams. Pogba can only play in a 2 man midfield when teams park the bus against us.

If miki plays the majority of games at 10 that leaves 1 place in Cm because if fit pogba starts .
If we go out and pay 40/ 50 mill on a cm then where does that leave Herrera? Because you don't buy a player like kroos to sit on the bench .
People also want us to buy griezmann, where would that leave rash? Cos ibra starts if fit so would a new superstar forward like griezmann, .

Exactly Jred, and I'm happy with th job Hererra is doing in that midfield. I ageee we need cover especially with a carrick coming to the end, but I don't think a player as high profile as Kroos is the answer.
