So people, what is your opinion of young Micheal Keane?

Personally I think he has been one of the best CB's in the EPL this season. He has excellent reading of the game, a calm head, good in the air and very underrated with the ball at his feet.

He probably wouldn't be my first choice for the CB position but he would be a great addition if we went for him in the summer.

What do you guys think?

If we went in for him I think it would be slightly embarrassing buying a player back that we sold for peanut's pogba all over again.
If these players are so good why have we let them go to other clubs only to buy them back for large sums of money.

I don't think Jose would have let him go. This is an LVG issue not a man UTD issue.

He should never have been sold and as mentioned it was not Jose who sold him. That said he is nowhere near the finished article yet and we really do need top defensive reinforcements. In a few years he might reach the top but right now it's a gamble.

Why not just learn from the possible mistake and give tuanzebe a go?

DSG you've hit the nail on the head there. Keane and Pogba went because they weren't (for different reasons) getting any experience in the first squad. The reason the class of 92 worked was because there was a mass cull to allow 4/ 5 first team places to come available.
We can't do that regularly, but there should be cycle to allow spaces to come up. The squad was too static for about 5 years and then compounded by transfer mistakes to block the path.
I'd prefer to see either trust the existing and add in some youth players or go and get a top line defender.

To be fair, I didn't see a big clamour on here to keep him at the time.

27 Mar 2017 11:41:03
Better than Smalling and Jones. So wouldn't mind.

I was always surprised we sold him,

I was surprised he went but if he wanted a shot at regular first team action as opposed to reserve games/ championship loans then I don't blame him. LVG was supposed to have cleared a path to the first team. don't think that's worked out too well.

I liked him. But I think he's definitely improved since his move. He's benefited from playing regularly, and after a focus on more 'attractive' defence training with us, he's now getting trained in the more 'pure' defending arts, that are more necessary at a club in Burnley's position. Good all-rounder, now.
