Bournemouth went down to 10 men and everyone knew what that would mean about their set-up. Well almost everyone, the most important person decided that he didn't need to change anything and kept us playing the exact same way, (even though we stopped playing the second we scored yet again) . Shocking decision to keep the status quo and very very predictable. Why on Earth he didn't push an extra player forward sooner I will never know, and that in a nutshell is why we are where we are. Far too cautious and slow to react to fast changing events.

I spot a trend - Bournemouth performance was very poor after we scored, or they grew on confidence after their dismal recent run meant they started bad. Southampton performance was very poor, Saint Etienne performance was very poor, Blackburn performance was very poor.

Doesn't look good going into a very tricky part of the season. In fact aside from the Watford game and a few easy cup matches, we have been generally very poor since the turn of the year. I'm very concerned about the short term future, especially as the Zlatan hyperbole will start ratcheting up and disrupting things. Maybe even DDG transfer talk will start accelerating as well. We need to sort things out sharpish or we could end up in serious trouble.

We need to learn to be ruthless, be far more clinical with chances and to want to thrash teams not simply sneak by with one goal margins of victory. We have players capable of much better than we are seeing and the manager needs to manage situations, not simply "hope" things will happen - yesterday's incompetence reminded me so much of LVG's Utd and it's not good enough.

Beast. Very fair appraisal. Though when you say we'll be in trouble, what do you mean? We won't be relegated and we're not going to make top4 with the fixtures we've got. So I just see us finishing in 6th place just above Everton.
I think to most realists, this where we were going to end up after all the draws we've had.
I agree re the sending off. We didn't need 4 at the back after that. He brought Lingard and played him at left back? And we continued with Zlatan when it was obvious to all 75,000 people that he was never going to score. Putting Rushford and martial up front with Lingard and Mata in support would have been the way forward. Bournemouth defence were very comfortable with zlatan. As you say, the manager chose to carry on regardless. No plan B as I said in an earlier post.

Hi Schmid - Thanks.

I mean trouble for all comps mate. Top 4 which if we perform to how we have shown we can in glimpses should still be achievable despite the fixture run. Europa Cup and FA Cup if we play how we have been then we won't be doing much in those either.

I appreciate it's nice to win the League Cup but it is a Mini Mouse Cup (Micky Mouse is now FA Cup haha) .

Defenders of the current situation may use the volume of games as an excuse, but we have a very large squad with minimal injuries to contend with. The fact Jose keeps picking pretty much the same team and playing certain players irrespective of their form is his responsibility. He has the means to manage the fixture congestion and has chosen to do what somebody with a squad of 18 players would do - simply put he is not managing situations he is choosing to "carry on regardless" as you say mate, very disappointing. No CL qualification is inexcusable this season considering the opportunities we have had, money spent and caliber of players we have to choose from. It's not as bad as under LVG but it's not markedly better yet, he needs to up his game big time.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you beast.

While we may not be winning every game, at least most have been good to watch. Yesterday it was frantic and yes we should have buried them early on, I can say that I have enjoyed most of the games this season.

You seem to be negative constantly and refuse to see how we should be looking at what is happening with optimism. We create myriad chances every game, the ball is being passed forward and we are having shots on goal.

The manager hasn't finished hos first season and yet we have already won a trophy and are only a few points off 3rd.

So much better than last year.

Tbh you sound like the Scouse fans who were berating Klopp after Leicester.

You seem to want instant success.

That is not possible. (and yes I know Conte is doing well but not played as many games ad we have)

Why don't you try to be a glass half. full type of fan rather than Mr pessimism for a change?

Funky Gibon - We have been good to watch a handful of times this season, even yesterday it was for 20mins only.

I'm not happy with how we are doing so I am obviously not going to be positive about things. Fake positivity is what Arsenal and Liverpool have been about for years, I don't want to become them, in fact with some fans praising virtually anything in desperation we are stooping lower than those laughing stocks.

We are 6th in the league and deserve to be, that simply isn't good enough and deserves maximum criticism form those that expect better from Man Utd.

Why don't you start holding the players and manager to task instead of accepting this ridiculous product we produce week in week out considering the equipment/ resources at our disposal?

05 Mar 2017 15:32:46
Leicester won the league last year by being clinical in front goal, anyone can see the football Utd are playing this season is streets ahead of what LVG was serving up but our finishing is strictly Sunday league quality.

05 Mar 2017 15:58:02
The football is better than LVG, but all 20 teams are playing better than the dross LVG served up. That shouldn't be the benchmark. The Benchmark should be Chelsea, Bayern, PSG, Barcelona etc.

Spurs, Chelsea and even City have been consistently better than us in our league. Arsenal and Liverpool have been way better at times and way worse, but on average they have been more entertaining that our guys.

Entrenching ourselves in the "also ran" category is not what I am comfortable with. Never heard "top 4" mentioned so much, disgraceful mindset.

I think the problem is as fans of the club we have been spoilt by the greatest manager ever, period.

A dynasty takes time to be built up, they then crumble and need to be built back up again. we cannot just expect to be the best automatically, it does take time.

How long has it taken Spurs to become challengers? How long did it take our neighbours to challenge? The same with Liverpool.

I am not wearing rose tinted specs in reference to the current squad or the manager. but I am happy that there is a feeling we can perhaps start challenging again. and it is not the turgid dire awfulness we have seen over the previous seasons.

We do deserve to be 6th because at this moment there are 5 teams better than us, but next year with a few shrewd additions maybe we will challenge for the title again.

I mean come on, remember the Sexton and Atkinson days?

We patiently waited years and then the greatest manager ever to have graced the game, came along and built an empire.

It will happen again.

05 Mar 2017 16:49:43
How long did it take Chelsea?

05 Mar 2017 17:49:37
The Beast.

You are preaching to the converted, I hate all of this talk about top four, it wouldn't be acceptable at Real, Barca or Munich it shouldn't be acceptable at Utd.

05 Mar 2017 18:08:27
You cannot compare La Liga to the premier league.

Leicester?

Would that happen in Spain?

And what entitles our team to be perennial winners?

Some of us lived through the pre Fergie years, it wasn't always pretty and certainly not successful but now newer younger fans have come along all of a sudden we forget the years the team was awful.
