I try to watch as much football as possible when not working but there's a handful of sides Sunderland being one of them where I just don't bother too watch so just wondered if anyone had seen much of Januzaj this year, I no Jose sent him on loan to a premier league club because he sees him as part of Manchester United's future but will this still be the case after his spell at Sunderland, has he performed well and will he be part of the squad next year?

Agree0 Disagree0

Like you Stretford I haven't watched too much of Sunderland this season. I know he has had a couple of good games recently (or some good moments in games) . We have read and heard a hell of a lot more about Perreira than Januzaj this season, which for Januzaj is very concerning considering he is playing in the EPL and Perreira for a very poor Spanish outfit. Considering all the hype about Januzaj a couple of years ago I would expect the press to be all over anything he does like a rash, but it's almost radio silence.

I'd expect him to be moved on come the summer, £10m from an Italian team would be my bet. Should have cashed in when we could have I fear.

Unfortunately he too inconsistent to ever be a top player, personally think he has the same attitude as Balotelli and co, not professional enough to play at a top team, another kid that has had money thrown at him at a young age and he let it go to his head, get rid of him this summer, he be in China in a few years for his big day.

I don't think he's been good enough. But he hasn't been shocking too. I still think he might get another chance before he's gone. Totally depends on his mentality. Depay and Morgan made sure they left us.
I would get stick but I still think he has better attributes than Lingard but he's never performed for us.
Everyone has improved under Jose (almost) . I think Januzaj may do. But most likely it's goodbye for him I guess. Same for Varela.

I think Sunderland is his level, but he's struggled to cement a place there so I can't see him doing so in a title challenging side.

I really hope as I'm wrong as I hate to say somebody can be incapable of achieving something they work hard for, but it's the hard work which seems to be lacking.

He's another Nani, capable of great moments but lacking the consistency to demand a starting place at a top club.
Some players get around a lack of work rate by constantly producing the goods in offensive play.
Januzaj like Nani is capable of putting either a 9 out of 10 or a 4 out of 10 performace in any given match.

Shappy I think you have got it spot on. The lad def has talent but talent has to be allied to serious hard work and he appears to lack the mental fortitude necessary to be a top star. Shame really to see such potential wasted.

I think you are being very harsh there shappy. Adnan has done nothing yet to show he can be as good as Nani was. Nani was a much better player than some give him credit for, possibly because eveyone expected the next Roni.

Dodgy, I think Nani may have been our player of the season once upon a time. I really liked Nani, partially for the way he played the game, I'll never forget is micky taking antics against Arsenal, and partially because we share the same birthday. Lol.

When he was on form he was one of the best players in the league, the issue was no one not even Nani himself knew when he was going to be on form.

Adnan isn't at Nani's level yet, but he has as much potential. The reason I liken him to Nani is down to the erractic nature of his form.

I have actually watched sunderland more than a few times, partly thanks to Fantasy and partly because it is like an ex-utd team. Januzaj should be shipped out, not worth any more time judging by current form. Actually disappointed because I had high hopes for the lad, and him being reunited with the coach that gave him the chance in the 1st place also gave me new hope but to no significant avail.
From the various responses above, I don't think he is better than Lingard, more talented maybe but talent only gets you that far.
I think Nani was far better than him although i can understand the hot and cold comparison.
I have also read a lot about Perreira but not watched even a full game. I have always thought that the La Liga is a more player friendly league as in EPL flops can shine there. (But that is a debate for another thread)

Don't like bashing our own players. But Janazaj has done nothing over the last 3/ 4 seasons with us or out on loan to suggest he is anywhere near good enough for us. I could count on one hand the amount of quality games he had for us. He was over hyped by our fans, and hasn't lived up to it. He isn't and will never be good enough to play this level. And to be honest when I've seen him at Sunderland he looks no better than anyone else there. Championship player for me.

mbd I think Pereira has what it takes to make it here. He's shined in the reserves, in Granada (which are a shocking team), and in Brazil.
I think it's very difficult for a player to adjust in a new league, as the demands are different.
I have not seen many matches, but whenever I have seen him, he always looks positive, he is looking to make a pass forward and not pass it back to the centre-backs and he has a wicked turn and good set piece delivery. And good performances should be reward as unlike Januzaj I think he deserves to get a fair crack at the first team.

21 Feb 2017 12:28:20
I like Pereira but in the best interest of him he needs to leave United this summer for a team like Sevilla, Valencia

I have Rooney, Pogba, Mata and potentially Griezmann over him in the "number 10" role next season, just think he won't get a look in at the club.

21 Feb 2017 12:49:45
Who was the guy on here a few years back, that always defended Nani. To the point where we thought it probably was Nani himself posting?

21 Feb 2017 13:15:47
Stevie that was Percy. He was funny, at one point I thought he was Nani. Lol.

21 Feb 2017 13:37:25
With Rashford, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Mata and maybe even Lingard already at the club plus the likelihood of a top addition or two in the summer I don't see where Januzaj fits in. Pereira may have a slim chance.

Nani did have a couple of good seasons, particularly before Valencia arrived and he was shifted from the right to the left. Januzaj has had maybe 2 good games. No comparison if you ask me.

My mate is a massive Sunderland fan and he says he just don't know how to take Adnan. Like we stated, he can play great and then be missing the next game. He actually feels that he plays better after coming on as a sub. I watched Adnan in the youth team and he looked amazing. Moyes brought him through and played him LW for a few games and he looked great. Fulham away he dominated the game and set up RVP if I remember right. But his move to the first team came too soon in my eyes. I think the club was worried we would have another Pogba on our hands and pushed him too early. Shame but it is what it is. He just wasnt ready for the next step. Italy or Spain is my guess.
