Now this isn't a dig at any players just curiosity if a player isn't playing well say like ibra today why doesn't he get subbed like pog has had a couple of let's say quite games never gets subbed. like I say it's not a dig just curiosity that's all I think they are amazing players they just have there bad games just like everyone does. but them 2 players never seem to get subbed.

Agree4 Disagree0

"If I sign for you, I play until I tell you I don't want to play, no sub during game, no rest if I want to play, you decide nothing about Zlatan, until Zlatan says otherwise, he stays on the pitch" - source, imaginary fly on the wall.

11 Feb 2017 17:39:29
Did the fly in the wall hear him say he well score 30 goals this season but that he won't score every week?
He had a mare today. I would have taken him off on 70 mins or so. He should have got a couple of goals today but only got am assist. I thought his overall play was better in the 2nd half he was poor in most areas of the 1st half. And his miss was one of the worst I've seen.
It will be interesting to see who starts on thur and in the cup on Sunday. I'd say ibra on thur and roo in the fa cup.

11 Feb 2017 17:59:28
Ken he has played like that almost every week mate, just happened to score more often than not to paper over the actual performance. In fact he didn't give it away as much as he normally does today imo - if he scored that header it would have changed a few peoples minds on how he performed I feel. Shouldn't though, one moment shouldn't be the basis for a 90 minute performance.

11 Feb 2017 17:59:34
Jose knows as soon as he upsets Zlatan, then Zlatan will start being a knob head and causing unrest.

11 Feb 2017 18:12:18
He has done it for 15 years beast what did you expect. I'm getting what I expect which is either scoring or making a goal in most games coupled with plenty of frustrating moments.

11 Feb 2017 18:30:04
Did he not assist for martial goal?

11 Feb 2017 18:33:48
Yeah, but that isn't the point being made Ken (I agree with your expectations) . We are complaining about the double standards and outlining how he is actually performing, not what our expectations are based on pre-Utd form.

Although if I am being honest I expected Zlatan to be better with the ball than what he is proving to be and more clinical, he gives it away more than Rooney used to and that is saying something!

I haven't got an axe to grind with Zlatan, as strikers need to score and he does that in the main. I do have a problem with the manager seeing the occasional assists and his decent goal ratio (but poor conversion rate) as sufficient to be undroppable no matter how he is actually performing on the day in question. It's almost like he could lie down mid game, have a short nap and the manager would still keep him on the pitch.

I won't be losing sleep about it but it doesn't mean it's justifiable to give Zlatan an open cheque book - maybe being subbed if playing rubbish will mean he performs better next time, carrot and stick.

11 Feb 2017 18:34:02
Great point FZZ.

11 Feb 2017 18:35:31
Schmid - Didn't both Mata and Martial actually score and place twice as well?

11 Feb 2017 18:33:48

11 Feb 2017 20:58:47
i've a funny feeling he'll play in both games ken, i think we need him to.

11 Feb 2017 22:18:15
Zlat is our top scorer by a mile - yet he is criticised for being 35 and having a lack of mobility and pace. We knew this before he signed. He's awesome. Jose is doing a great job and we are moving in the right direction. Relax everybody it will come.

{Ed007's Note - Will I...... Och OK then, Wayne Rooney's Utd all time top scorer and is only 31. He is criticised for not being mobile and having no pace but he was always going to get older and slower, Utd and the fans must have knew this before he signed. He's not bald anymore and fully deserves the new deal being worked on. Just relax everyone, it'll come.}

12 Feb 2017 00:08:23
Except Wazza was 18 not 34/ 35 when he signed for u and had been an awesome player. Lots of negativity and criticism that I think is uncalled for. Zlatan is our top scorer and was brought in to score goals and nothing else. That's what he does. He is in much better physical shape than Rooney, who is our record goal scorer yet both get slated on here. I don't get it.

Meanwhile, Miki and Herrera get a free ride when
Miki in particular has done nothing to warrant the adulation yet.

{Ed007's Note - And the world wasn't talking about Zlatan when he was 18 and at Malmo. He's 35 and still onlythe 2nd best Swedish player ever. Rooney will be spoke about long after Zlatans sitting in his pipe and slippers reading Henrik Larsson's autobiography.}

12 Feb 2017 07:52:30
Sheesh Beastie so when we don't win, its jose's fault and when we do win Ibra's no good. If only he had scored 20 goals and provided some assits, oh no wait, He's done that. ok maybe he has not scored important goals and just chipped in with a goal when the team's already winning?!? Nope. Scored match winning goals too. Maybe he can't hold the ball? ummm no that's not it either. OH i know, Maybe he was too expensive like 40 million quid, erm nooo he was a free transfer. That could only mean he is a bad influence in the dressing roo. i can't even finish the sentence because that ain't true either.

What all this really means is that as usual beastie (donnie trump of this forum) has got his panties in a twist over nothing. You seem even more presistent than trump to prove to anyone how you see and understand and know football like no one else. beastie since no one here give a rat's behind about your opines why not invest your (oh let's just call it) energy into global warming or world peace or famines or more importantly how the new top gear could float.

I'm guessing The Raconteur didn't pull last night and woke up next to a Empty bottle of Vimto.

12 Feb 2017 11:20:03
Oh herbie, i'm sure it was sick burn but its lost on me, given, i am not from england.

but i appreciate and laud the effort.

12 Feb 2017 11:42:42
Awwww thanks mate :-)

12 Feb 2017 08:40:29
I'm not sure what's happening 007. Seems we are both defending Rooney from both sides of the coin.

Either way, Zlat will be at the club next year and Rooney won't and Mourinho is taking us forward after a few years of turgid wilderness under Moyes and LVG.

Potentially top 4, Europa League, League Cup and FA cup looks a good season to me in the first year so far so I guess I just don't understand the negative bias to many posts when we are clearly improving. Aren't we in the longest unbeaten league run in Europe too?

{Ed007's Note - I'm just pulling your leg, everyone gets far too serious on her at times and look for hidden meaning in everything.
Celtic haven't lost a league game since last season and are around the 31 mark for this season alone so Utd can't be on the longest run.}

12 Feb 2017 12:32:53
Raconteur. That's a bit harsh. Everybody's opinions are welcome imo but you don't have to agree with them.

United supported will be talking about rooney long after they forget about zlatan and Celtic supporters will talk about larrson forever. All will be regarded legends in their own right all deserve it.
All have great careers behind them.

12 Feb 2017 14:11:04
I don't think they were including semi-pro leagues in the stats, Bond.

{Ed007's Note - Hahahaha football snobbery at it's best Yeah Watford, Bournemouth, Hull, Barnsley and Middlesbrough would light up any league in Europe. Millions to spend and they produce week after week of mundane garbage football. How much of a diddy must you be to sit down to watch Hull v Stoke unless you support one of them?
Your league's that good Leicester won it last year ffs! In saying that, I suppose it just shows that anyone can win the 3rd (maybe even 4th now that Serie A is improving) best league in the world as long as they don't have too many English players in their team.
Swansea v Leicester later today should be a cracker, that could turn out to be a great advert for 'the best league in the world' :-D No wonder SLY Subscriptions are on a downward spiral as people realise they are paying more and more money for a mediocre product wrapped in fancy graphics with a studio of sycophants that need to consistently remind you how great the league is - even as you sit watching another mundane serving of their Super Sunday.
Man City didn't feel like they had played a team from the semi-pro leagues when we drew 4-4 on aggregate with them in the CL - in fact wasn't our 3-3 draw with them the first match since the start of the season City hadn't won? I'm sure they went into that match with a 100% record.
How do you feel when Spanish and German people and their media look down their noses at the English game?}

12 Feb 2017 14:52:35
Ken - he only ever pops up on here to have a bash at the Beast, I just ignore him mate, he reminds me of the Ghanian guy that got banned a couple of years ago for having multiple accounts and just used them to attack my view rather than actually debate the point being made.

I imagine the number missing from his avatar is "666", as he thinks about me so much.

12 Feb 2017 15:46:56
@herbie, you're very welcome good sir :)

@ken, I am loving Zalatan so much and have loved him right after we beat his inter team back in the day but what I love even more (and I mean a lot more) is the legend, which is Wayne Rooney. I know he has flaws but so did giggs and no matter what anyone says or however much Rooney's touch n game deteriorates, he SHOULD be reversed and respected as one of our greatest legends.

PS before u all start breathing down my neck, I'm not paying for his salary so I really couldn't care less about the monies. if I had my way I'd take away about 90% of money any and all sports personalities make and do a bit of a socialistic redistribution of wealth to those less fortunate.
Peace on!

12 Feb 2017 16:05:27
Em, Bond. I'm not English, mate. It's not my league. Just a wind up. Spent seven years in Aberdeen telling them all how shite their football was. No bloody sense of humour :)

{Ed007's Note - You support an English team, I've spent 25 years telling Englishmen their league isn't the best in the world. We Scots know our league's far from perfect but it's still the best attended league in Europe per capita.
During the weekend of 13th December more fans attended Celtic v Hamilton (55076) than Everton v Arsenal (39510) & Bournemouth v Champions Leicester (11068) combined. Best league in
Too many people see the EPL as the be all and end all of football and they sneer down their noses at leagues they never even watch. They've read it on the internet or seen them say on SKY that the EPL is the best league in the world so it must be true. The reality is theEPL is like Disneyland, a tourist attraction to make as much money as possible from the tourists

12 Feb 2017 17:27:46
Using a Celtic home match doesn't count! I remember back in the early 90s, when the Dons took the old Rangers to the last game of the season, Pittodrie was sold out every week. Place was bouncing. I was there in the summer with the family, and took the son to watch them play a European game. Place was half-empty. And the football seemed to have got worse from the days of Jess and big Jim Bett. I'm waffling. I loved going all round Scotland watching Aberdeen back then, but deep down, I still thought the football was generally pish :)

12 Feb 2017 18:41:21
Celtic are well supported. After that the average attendance is bettered by division 1 crowds. The Italian league has top teams playing in half empty stadia every week. Take out the top half dozen clubs in Spain the rest are in a financial mess and the league is really poor and uncompetutuve.
The epl is not the best quality football but it is probably the best run and the most competitive leat predictable and best supported.
The quality of the football is not the reason sly subscriptions are down its become unaffordable for many and there are many cheaper legal and illegal options for people to bypass their systems to watch live matches at home without paying the exorbitant fees.
