Why on Earth did we sell Welbck? We need a goal scorer and he's on fire, I can't believe we let him go so easily. Someone should be sacked,

Thinking exactly the same thing mate. Sure he lacked abit of composure for us but the guy is a real athlete and direct and that is what we are lacking as well. To make it worse, he's United through and through and to be playing for the gunners is extremely painful. 16m as well! Bargain if you ask me. Personally would love him back at united.

Only 1 ajh your slipping😀

LVG was toxic for our club.
He sold a true goalscorer in Hernandez.
Sold passionate fullbacks in evra and rafael.
Sold RVP after he had a substandard season.
Threw Depay under the bus, and never let him settle.
Almost let de gea leave.
He almost let Carrick leave.
He sold welbeck without even giving him a proper chance.
Fletcher in the winter, when we clearly lacked midfielders.
Michael Keane and Ben Pearson were sold too.
Tom Thorpe, who almost everyone felt was the best CB at that time ahead of mcnair or blackett never played.
Drops varela after he has a bad game against coutinho.
Loans Januzaj when he scores a winner against Villa.
Ignores andreas Pereira time and again even after he's won them a fa cup or league cup can't remember tie, with his worldie freekick.
He was signed to let go of the deadwood, but for me he looked someone who never loved his players apart from a few.
I think if Jose inherited the same squad Moyes left, a lot of those guys would not have left.

28 Jan 2017 18:33:37
Pretty simple to me, just look at the treatment some people are giving to rashford or lingard if they have a couple of bad games. It seems like being a local lad is more of a hindrance than a benefit to playing for united.

Best thing to happen to welbeck was to leave the club, unfortunately he's had horrendous injuries which has curtailed his progression.

AJH

Do you own a fishing rod?

28 Jan 2017 18:56:16
Rohan. Jose has since loaned out adnan and pereira and sold depay and Varela. Let's face it evra was past his best for the epl sadly. Rafael was always injured and not very solid. Ben Pearson is doing OK at Preston which is about his level. Thorpe I think got injured after moving but never stepped up.
Fletch was a loss but wanted to play weekly it was his choice.
Hernandez not doing at all well this season so is suffering 2nd season syndrome yet again, where have we seen that before?

I honestly would not want any of them back.

I agree ajh, we should still have a back four of rafael, vidic, rio and evra. How we let them all leave is beyond a joke. Fletcher and Cleverley in midfield also come to mind, as do macheda, Bebe and Biram Diouf. Just think of the side we could still have with these players at the club!

Mourinho must be gutted with the side we now have compared to the one we could have had.

Brings a tear to my eye.

28 Jan 2017 19:08:09
Red man. he has a couple of them going by the last post 😂😂

😬 I was just getting ahead of the curve

28 Jan 2017 20:21:26
About Hernandez, I heard it was some attitude problem, but the guy had genuine match winning ability. He was a poacher, and the amount of times he was in the right place was quality. His finishing sometimes could be questioned, but players need rhythm especially strikers. We had a misfiring rooney, a super young martial and the emergence of rashford that helped us last season. He didn't do well as a roundup play, but he usually scored and was always on the shoulder of the defender. I would still have him in the 18.
Welbeck has been very clincial sometimes, and was maybe wrongly sold, is Lingard better than him? Not even close.
We sign stupid darmian, who is scared in the tackle, can't cross and can't defend. Darmian is slower than Giggs at 36. I'd have Rafael over him day and night. Jose knows how to defend and Rafael would have been an asset to us. Jones was injured always, is he now? Rafael would've gone the same road and given good performances as backup to Tony V.
Evra was waning, but Rojo as LB is a masterstroke, right? and we played 3-5-2. He was probably the best crosser we had for seasons.
Varela is on loan. Pereira has been good for a poor granada side. Januzaj hasn't been great.
Keane is worth 15million now, and he was sold because he was caught out in a gamr we lost 4-0 or 5-0 playing in a 3man defense as RCB.
He sold the identity of the squad, he should have kept a few.
Replacing average squad players with more average squad players.
Only Blind and Herrera are the positives. Rest all terrible signings.
Is Rojo better than Johnny Evans?
Darren Fletcher or Fellaini in midfield? That's a tough choice.
He was wrong a lot of the times.

28 Jan 2017 20:37:17
Aside from the fishing 😉 - do u think hernandez would have had a different career at UTD if he stayed until Jose took over?

He is a different player now than he was with us towards the end and i wonder if he would have improved under JM?

28 Jan 2017 20:37:33
In His last games Hernandez couldn't hit by a barn door with a banjo. Rafa l was erratic and reckless, it exactly set the world on fire since he left has he? Evra was a warrior but his legs had gone and he simply couldn't cope with the EPL any more.

Keane may be playing well for Burnley but could he do it week in week out for United? As for Welbeck, I was taking the p1ss as I knew what would happen when he scored a couple. He had ample chances and blew it.

We have a great team and a strong squad, I can't think of anyone I'm sad we sold. Rojo may not be the most skilful of defenders but he is committed and loves the club.

28 Jan 2017 20:58:17
Rafael and Welbeck should never have been sold. Also if we were going for this defensive first approach neither should Evra as he would have ample cover for his frequent lapses. Rather have Evra at LB than Rojo, that's for sure.

I know your post was in jest AJH, but Welbeck and Rafael would have been ideal in this set-up. Valencia has been a star and he can't do anything but run really.

28 Jan 2017 21:12:49
Rafael was a liability imo totally wreckless and very poor defender. Evra was finished in the epl a real favourite of mine but his time was up
But it's all about opinions.

28 Jan 2017 23:27:59
Valencia can't do anything but run really? Yep that makes sense :/

Not sure if you've noticed but valencia has been fantastic. He regularly beats his man, crossing has gone up a couple of notches, his positional sense has been fantastic and his overall defending has been A1.

A lot more than just running

29 Jan 2017 04:48:17
So apperantly 50 year old fletcher or fellaini is now a hard choice, also if Michael keane is worth 15 mn why isn't anyone buying him or even trying to, since leaving utd the great danny welbeck has missed 78 games over 2.5 seasons, must be lvg's fault too.

You know what you are right rohan, van gaal is rubbish manager, i mean why let vidic rio evra leave look how great they have been since leaving, they were good enough to play until their 70's. Heck he should have brought king back too, not to mention charlton, he is always at the game any way, could easily have added much needed experience, also rooney would never have broken the record then either.

{Ed001's Note - actually there has been a lot of clubs attempting to buy Keane, but Burnley are not looking to sell, so it is not a case of just offering 15m and the deal is done.}

29 Jan 2017 05:10:03
My point wasn't about money ed, rohan has been constantly moaning about keane as if lvg let go the best utd defender since rio and vidic, when he is nowhere near them.

{Ed001's Note - ok mate. He is a very good defender who is highly regarded and probably could have been the best defender since Rio and Vidic were it not for the arrival of Bailly. At least he can stay fit for a full season and can concentrate for 90 minutes, unlike Jones and Smalling.}

29 Jan 2017 05:25:40
Jones seems to be correcting that ed001, smalling i have never been sold on, we need atleast 1 more good cb but keane is not utd quality right now, fair play to him if he proves me wrong but at least right now he is not.

{Ed001's Note - better than the replacements LVG brought in.....}

29 Jan 2017 05:31:53
Ed001 what is going on with rooney with recent reports of him leaving before now window closes rather than in summer.

{Ed001's Note - no idea mate. Last I heard his focus was solely on the record but I have been busy since then with a few personal issues, so I am very out of touch.}

29 Jan 2017 06:24:58
I'm not raving about Keane is he is the best CB to come out. I'm just LVG sold players and brought in similar level of players. Bloated the entire squad. Sold academy players that might have had a chance.
Jones was perenially injured, I'm sure Rafael would have worked out his issues under Jose. Rafael would have a brick wall for the team. He was good going forward and remember when bale didn't a sniff against him at RB.
All LVG wanted was a bubch of robots with no flair. He had no regard for the youngsters. He played them, they played good and didn't play them when the older players were back.
And Jose, I'm a little sad Goss left tbh. But maybe he needed to develop and Jose could not offer that.
I think LVG and Moyes killed RVP's career by overtraining him. I remember under arsene he had some program which he followed and was fit usually. The same continued under SirAlex. But Van Gaal wanted to train him more which his body didn't allow.

29 Jan 2017 06:14:58
Thanks anyway ed.

{Ed001's Note - sorry I couldn't be more help mate. Hopefully things will be back to normal in the next week or so, though I do appreciate that is too late for the transfer window! Real life has just been interfering to a huge degree.}

29 Jan 2017 09:04:50
Rohan i also remember how his petulant tackles leading to a red in the qf against bayern cost us a potential cl, or do we only remember things that fit a certain poit of view, as many above have said rafael was far too inconsistent and has not really lit up the ligue 1 has he, on keane as i said if he proves me wrong fair enough, right now he isn't doing so. Rvp missed matches due to 1 injury under lvg and that happened during a match that is over training is it.

Rohan you hate lvg so can't be objective about him, lvg had many faults some of which you have pointed out, but your bias kind of negates those points, we don't finish top 4 lvg's fault, we win fa cup he is lucky, falcao, di maria, mcnair fail his fault. Rashford, martial turn out to be good he is lucky. There is a mid point where one can see the good he did while still being happy he left. You need to see that rohan.

29 Jan 2017 09:36:11
No need to apologise ed001, most things in life are more important than which football club will pay a has been more money in a week, than most of us see in a lifetime.

{Ed001's Note - true, there are defo a lot of things more important.}

29 Jan 2017 09:54:41
Angel- That's my point, imagine what a proper right back could do, that can run like Valencia, but has end product, is defensively better (because they have played there all their career), and understands when to go and when to stay.

If you actually watch Valencia he isn't especially great at anything apart from being very quick. What are his assets as a right back, he struggles to cross, he is not great with the ball, he is dodgy defensively, getting old?

He is committed and quick, two things that a lot of full backs are.

I actually say Valencia has been a star in my post, acknowledging how well he has done despite him not being a natural right back.

29 Jan 2017 12:05:08
Beast. I know what you are trying to say.

I still feel he is extremely underrated by many and going by his performance levels the last year he has been the best RB in the country by some distance.

29 Jan 2017 12:30:35
i think kean looks as good as anything we have .
the rest leaving i could understandbut i was surprised kean left tho

29 Jan 2017 14:14:10
I'm biased, but I'd have kept Evans.
