what do people make of these martial rumours .

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2017 13:19:50
If his attitude and off field problems are affecting his performance then he can go for me, talent or not. He is being paid a fortune and should give 100%.

24 Jan 2017 14:00:01
young kid only 21, sometimes you have to look after these young lads the media pressure etc there under is huge .
giggs sharpe etc all had issues with it .
like it or not a 21 year kid is a 21 year old kid no matter hiw much they earn

24 Jan 2017 14:26:49
I agree with that jred to an extent. Young players form can fluctuate to a large degree. They are still learning gaining experience and finding out about themselves too.
However what should not fluctuate to a large degree is their application and their commitment to training, learning and developing. I'm not suggesting that martial had these issues but it's obvious and well documented that depay andnan and shaw have for example.
Agents can be an issue. If a young player is dropped for a few games their agents brothers fathers etc should mind their own business. Martial has not had the form this season to Warrent him being a certain first 11 pick. So suck it up train hard tell your agent to shut up and prove yourself in training and matches.
Character is often as important as talent if a young player is not showing the right attitude when their form dips then they will never be a great.

ken
but players get labled this that an the other by fans due to one comment made in the press .
never mind everything they have done to get to a top club like united or play for england france etc, someone made a comment in a paper so that's it .

all players have ups and downs, have learning curves, and things that they need to overcome .
you just don't read about it or there not as high profile as united kids.
we are talking about young lads learning .
you build character

24 Jan 2017 15:29:04
I know it's not popular to look at the price tag, but I think it needs to be a factor when making assessments. After all you don't buy a £10k car and expect to get from it what you would a £150k car. Likewise you don't expect a £150k car to operate like a £10k one.

We paid big money for Martial, we have seen he is capable of being worth that amount, yet only once or twice this season has he looked anything like that players. How a young player can go backwards so far and so quickly is disappointing but not surprising. I would put up with this a lot better with say Rashford because we didn't shell out so much or don't pay him as much.

You are a man at 18, you are paid a mans wages, you are demanding to be treated as a man - yet some people want to make excuses for them as still being kids? Martial just like Shaw need to buck their ideas up, otherwise it looks like being a massive waste of money and talent yet again, just like Depay!

I understand the whole thing about potential, but frankly I'm sick of that word because we are paying the money out that would get us seasoned almost guaranteed professionals. Bad signings if they can drop off so quickly and fall from favour so quickly. I really like both Shaw and Martial when on form, devastating, my types of players, but we shouldn't be using age as an excuse because they aren't handing back their wages or Monaco and Saints aren't giving us back some of the money we gambled on them.

24 Jan 2017 15:48:52
beast
one was 18 the other was 19 when we bought them, we are maybe looking to the future and long term plan with 2 very young players

24 Jan 2017 15:50:18
If attitude is a problem he has got to buck up.

I'm not having any of this, he is only 21 lark. You are a man, apply yourself and work hard.

If there are underlying issues that we are not aware of then I hope he gets the help required but if it is simply an attitude problem or lack of work ethic then he needs to change it or risk being moved on for someone who will work.

24 Jan 2017 16:32:21
If it just him having a difficult time in his personal life, but still giving 100% effort in training and when he gets to play, even if it is below his usual/ potential standards, then he should be helped and given time. If he is having a hard time but isn't putting a shift in either and has a bad attitude, it doesn't bode well for the future anyway.

24 Jan 2017 17:02:13
Spot on bren. Spot on angel.

25 Jan 2017 06:23:16
the amigos ^^^
so now martial has a bad attitude

25 Jan 2017 07:12:36
I never said anything about martial having a bad attitude dopey. You see and read what you like a lot of the time. Probably a touch of paranoia mixed with your desire to start a row and insult at every given opportunity. I think you either suffer from angry small man syndrome or small mind syndrome. Jred =little Dennis wise

25 Jan 2017 07:54:41
Ken. Jred is a good poster, unfortunately he just sees what he wants instead of actually reading the post.

I don't know luke shaw or Anthony martial. All we can do as fans is speculate and take from the Eds undeniable knowledge of the game and our great club.

Ed001 very clearly stated that there was an attitude problem and that both have to work harder. Jred, why don't you have a go at ed001 then for giving us some insight instead of having a go at the posters and their opinions.

It's becoming quite boring, your same old selective reading.

I will debate you but I will read your posts. Try and do the same with ours.

25 Jan 2017 07:56:04
I think you might have hit the nail on the head their Ken. Obviously something is a miss.

Wed probably understand each other better if we met!

25 Jan 2017 09:51:27
It's the same old argument 'support your players' 'don't slag off'
If a player plays for Manchester United he is not perfect just because he plays for Manchester United. It's ok to debate Any players short comings or flaws just as it's ok to praise other of their attributes.
It's not disloyal is not being a bad supporter. That's what forums lime this are for.
Once a player takes the pitch in a red jersey we all want them to do well and succeed and they will all get my support but I'm not blind.
If you love your wife but she is a dwarf it's ok to say she is small. It's not disloyal it's just true but it doesn't stop you loving her.

25 Jan 2017 12:56:44
so what has martial done?
all players all people make mistakes you learn from them .

i think i hit a nerve .
ken getting personel again, classless .
same people looking to slag players off .
martial is a young lad what is it he has done that's so bad .
you have no idea what the is going on behind the scene .
you pick up and one comment and that's it a player is tarred for life

25 Jan 2017 13:18:22
Who said martial did anything? Who tarred him for life? . Go get a job with the sun or metro fella you talk enough rubbish to get on well there. With your ott melodramatic paraphrasing, usually incorrectly.
Stick to copy and pasting quotes from the manager. everybody has their takents.
You asked a question in your op don't be surprised if you don't agree with everybody's answers. But read them and try to understand them before spouting nonsense. Who slagged martial off?

you're right jred, we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.

However, the eds do, I hope you read the information given on Martial and Shaw by the eds.

They have clearly stated what the issue is. You might not want to hear it, but both martial and shaw seem to have a work ethic problem and if true they won't be working under mourinho unless they change it.

If you don't want to read poster's opinions on martial then I'd suggest not starting with an OP like yours above. Free bit of advice for you ;)

25 Jan 2017 14:09:59
angle
all players go through stuff like that.
its a learning curve there young lads learning what it takes to make it at the top level.
it doesn't mean there fat or lazy but you know how it works, we will just read post after post of them having bad attituded being lazy etc .
always the same prople ;)

25 Jan 2017 14:14:07
angle
by the way i don't think its that much of a surprise martial got dropped i don't think he was that good against liverpool .
you must think it was very harsh

25 Jan 2017 14:44:11
I'm still trying to work out which poster slagged martial off for having a bad attitude.

25 Jan 2017 15:02:34
Jred, the eds said it. Have a go at them for saying it if you have a problem.

But I doubt that you will. You'll just have a go at posters for their opinions. It's ridiculous and the more I read your posts I just wonder are you a WUM.

25 Jan 2017 15:02:50
Ken, you and I both.

I think he's on the wind up

25 Jan 2017 15:27:02
angl
i posted a question this morning i'm sure the ed will answear when he is on thr site.
you talk about having a go, copy and paste what i have posted that has upset you and i will explain it .
its opinions not wum or small man syndrome .

{Ed002's Note - I doubt if he will be around at all today.}

25 Jan 2017 15:35:34
So who has slagged martial off? In this thread or before who are the posters you refer to? W hop had tarred him for life?
Angel I agree entirely

25 Jan 2017 15:53:42
You haven't upset me jred. It's just a bit ridiculous.

'what do people make of these martial rumours' -jred

We just took what ed001 had to say about the matter and gave our honest opinion, you don't like it but have a go at us, odd.

25 Jan 2017 16:05:58
angle
so do i not reply?
just ask a question and leave it at that?
post up what upset you pal or what was having a go .

25 Jan 2017 16:11:24
So who slagged martial off jred?

25 Jan 2017 16:45:18
ken
its how it starts, i said a few week ago it would be shaw . people pick up on a comment then all of a sudden this player can't do no right .
if martial now gets dropped it will be because he has a bad attitude . not a niggle or rested .
site has been like it for a while .
rooney was a great example but there are many more .
people will want a shiney new player like griezmann so they will have to convince themselves someone has to leave

25 Jan 2017 17:40:32
So nobody had slagged him of then. that's what I thought. Don't think I've seen anybody slag or write shaw off. Rooney has been poor for 3 seasons. ARe we not allowed to say that because he was great for 9 seasons.
