enjoyed the game yesterday, not a great watch but united liverpool never are .
i backed a score draw so i'm ok with the result.
liverpool set up well with a few missing .
llallan sat on carrick which stopped us building from deep, they doubled up on the flanks which restricted our wide players and got around pogba .
we set up as expected and klopp countered it so credit where its due .

we played with a very flat cm 3 which means we lacked a player to pull the strings in the 10 role, maybe pogba should of been there but he had a nightmare .
if some of our other players had of played as bad they would of got slaughted on the site.

cm was an issue all game, herrera work rate is great but pogba spends a lot of time
off the ball just walking about . to make that step up his work rate and drive need to improve then do all the tricks .
carrick struggled with the pace of the game .
that said liverpool are a decent team who makes you work hard .
if we had picked a different 11 and played like that the site would of gone nuts
its maybe not quite as easy as people think, picking a team, tactics etc, the other team has a sat as well

fellaini showed why jose will like, as a manager its great to have a different option .

but a good and fair result imo so on to the next one

Agree12 Disagree1

Why would the site have gone nuts if it was a diff eleven, Liverpool stopped us playing and the result was fair as most have said, and btw pool got praise for this tactics yet we got slated by some when Jose did the same at Anfield.
Fair result, we was poor yet still had the best chances, always a difficult game irrelevant of form so we go again. Spurs v city next, then Chelsea have pool and Arsenal in a row so could be a decent point yet.

because it always does, if martial and miki hadnt of started and we had played like that in the first half there would of been uproar .
im not sure how negative liverpool where, with the players they had , i thought we played well second half .

I thought it was a fair enough result in the end albeit we had a couple of great chances in the first half.

I thought the game itself was poor, but what it lacked in quality it made up for in high energy and some big moments.

I was upset by the referees performance, the whistle constantly in mouth and never really allowed the game to flow which I think is very important especially in a game of this magnitude.

Liverpool did well to unsettle Carrick and pogba, both never got into the game, the latter having an extremely poor game. Unfortunate as he has been playing exceptionally well lately. That was a massive stifler in the way we play. We need those 2 to tick and therefore get the likes of ibra, martial and miki the correct kind of service.

Martial was unlucky to be taken off when he was. I felt he had the beating of their young RB Everytime but apart from some glimpses rarely got the correct amount ball.

Not to pick on him because he has been a great servant to the club in terms of goals. But Rooney was very poor when he came on and probably showed that he is not at that level anymore required. Where as fellaini came on and did a great job. Showing us once again he is a very good option.

Overall I am slightly disappointed as a fan as I felt it was very important to secure 3 points here. I believe it would have just cemented the teams confidence and belief therefore meaning we could really kick on and hopefully close the gap on Chelsea. But we got a point and I feel that we will still get the coveted top 4 position but unfortunately that title is once again out of reach.

On to Stoke away, no gimme whatsoever and we must secure another 3 points there. Max points up to the city game would be the dream scenario.

i thought rooney did ok not great but non of the front 6 where .
liverpool matched our front 6 with there back 6, tight game 2 even sets.
ibra done well to get the goal but done little else, martial and miki struggled to get into the game (poor in the first halfimo ) and mata done what when he come on?
we had a better shape in the second half and controlled the game better, until the last 15 when we started to take a chance .

fellaini came on to a game and tactic that suited him and showed why a manager likes to have options

watched the game again this morning and i'm surprised at that you rooney c comment . or maybe not ;)

Lol just an honest observation jred. It's unfortunate where others might have a poor game or two or not make an impact when on but rooney has been consistently unimpactful too much to be considered for UTD.

Look, it's still 14 games unbeaten. We are building something very solid and IMO will only keep getting better under Jose. Ibra again, didn't really get a sniff but when he had his chance he put it away. 10 goals in 10, hard to argue with that.

If we had put away our 1st half chances it would have been a much different game. Mignolet did well too.

16 Jan 2017 17:06:32
i disagree angel, as jred said he rooney was not great but he was far better than others, mata, pogba ibra and carrick were worse. But i did not understand why he was brought on, rooney at his best is a very poor player against liverpool, if there is one game he has consistently bottled in his career it is this one, rashford should have come on ahead of rooney and rooney did absolutely nothing of note for the 45 he was on for.

16 Jan 2017 17:15:29
thats football if liverpool had taken there chances it would of been a different game .
on rooney i disagree
, ibra has been the stand out player but the rest have all had ups and downs martial miki linder .

rash was really poor in the last game .
for me rooney has been doing ok, but the same people talk about no one else, out of the front 6 ( who where average ) he was no better or worse but again he is the only person you mention .
no surprise marial was subbed either

by the way rooney will be very much considered by jose . even if he is not by you .

csm
i agree i don't think rooney has had 1 good game against liverpool, fergy said he was to emotional about the game .
but i can understand why jose made the change, we needed to change the shape
hates liverpool

16 Jan 2017 17:52:22
jred but what exactly did rooney add to the team, he was like a more hard working less ability having version of zlatan with the same weakness "lack of pace", rashford could have helped zlatan out, liverpool defenders were constantly trying to protect their young fb, rashford against liverpool defence would have worked lot better than rooney did.

16 Jan 2017 17:55:51
CSM as you'll see from my post I wasn't talking about 1 game. I was saying overall he has been consistently poor so I don't understand why he was brought on.

Its one thing not offering much in 1 game mata, pogba etc it's another not offering anything really for the last couple of years

16 Jan 2017 17:57:34
Sorry CSM but what is it you don't agree with. My assessment of Rooney on the whole?

16 Jan 2017 18:05:20
angel i don't think he was bad yesterday nor has he been very poor especially since his return after being dropped, though i don't think he should be playing unless it is to rest other players or when we are chasing a game and players on pitch have been poor.

16 Jan 2017 18:16:16
angle
i think he has been doing ok, so it was no surprise that jose brought him on .
what did he do? what did the rest do, it seems its just about rooney for you .
he come on give a option and link wuth ibra moved the ball about made space, it was a tight game tho and not one player stood out .
it was that type of game
it was his cross that the wig hit the post with leading to the goal .
i though we controlled the game better and retained the ball better in the last 3rd when he come on .

remember its a team game

i don't think he has been poor, maybe not great but ok . the same as martial, rash and the other players he is competing with, all have been up and down this season.

jose is in a good place to judge and the spurs game is the only game rooney has not played in when fit this season .

but like i keep saying, jose and co know what they are doing so if you don't undrestand something maybe you should look at yourself .

16 Jan 2017 19:13:42
Jred you don't need to be so condescending. I was just giving my opinion. I'm not suddenly going to be a manager in the morning profess to no more than Jose. I trust him completely.

But this site is for opinions and banter. I don't think you like to hear opinions that don't agree with your own. You dismiss them and call everybody managers. very unfair IMO

16 Jan 2017 19:15:45
Nor do I need 'to look at myself' football is just a game fella and I don't need to understand something to have an opinion. Your point and case on that one with some of your posts. But I won't belittle you

16 Jan 2017 20:30:07
sorry dude honestly didn't mean to be condescending, just a bit of banter maybe got lost in the post .

16 Jan 2017 20:43:32
but its the same thing over and over, what about all the other players .
if rooney keeps getting picked by different managers maybe he is doing better than what you think .
you don't understand why he gets picked, but he does .

you thought rooney was awful and asked what did he do .
you thought martial was unlucky to be taken off . what did he do .
