Rooney didn't play well, but I did see the logic in the decision. We needed to get a grip of the game and the captain who would be more passionate than anybody about beating Liverpool would ideally have been the catalyst to get some fight and drive into the team. Didn't work really.

I also saw the logic in Fellaini and that one fortunately did work.

The one I didn't think should happen was Mata. Martial needed space to roast that full back and would have gotten it the longer the game went on, Rashford should have come on for Martial if that sub needed to happen. Either way we missed a trick there imo.

I knock Jose a lot and the team didn't seem prepared properly, but I saw sense in most of what he did. They were sharper around the pitch and sharper off it, but we should and could have won if we had taken our chances. Sloppy all over really, shame as we had a real chance of striking serious fear into our rivals for the title - but a poor performance to go along with quite a few recently, this time we couldn't sneak it.

I thought Mata was an improvement on Martial although I wanted to see Rashford. Just a bad day athe office today I guess

Great post Beast, I think we will make top 3

Good post beast. We seemed to be a yard short for everything. They're a good team but not a balanced team. Their defence is not great.
We keep creating and missing easy chances. Our competitors create and score.
We are simply not ruthless enough. Top 4 is going to be a struggle now. Personally, unless we're more ruthless and attacking then I can't see us making it.

Agree with most again Beast, not sure about criticism of previous performances where I think games coming quick and fast around Xmas normally mean a drop in levels for everyone. Today's game was a big let down, too many players where like rabbits in headlights (Pogba biggest example), L'pool weren't great but worked extremely hard and set up differently which is a compliment to us. I think Rashford would have been a sub I'd have made but nit picking a bit there. I thought Jones and Rojo showed there level today, when under pressure they seemed to panic (like a lot of others) too much. I could critic L'pool as well because they weren't great either but that's not my concern. Not a great game, very scrappy, draw a fair result.

Missed chances by both teams (Wijnaldum could have won it late on), but mistakes were common today will all of the high pressure by both teams. To take a few positives from the game, Jones and Rojo were solid throughout again, and we were mentally strong until the final whistle. Confidence will remain high.

Pogba was poor today, I think he gets himself too worked up for the big games, and must learn to play within himself, which I think he will do as time goes on. This problem is more correctible than a guy who disappears under pressure.

Rooney was erratic. He gives the ball away at times, but also creates chances, his left foot cross was key to the equaliser.

Otherwise, I think Mkhitaryan looks fully integrated into the side, as Herrera has become earlier in the season, and Valencia was excellent today, as was De Gea, which we take for granted.
