so on the back of jose saying on fellaini

'He was not afraid after the Everton match to go to the pitch again. He played a phenomenal game against Reading (in the FA Cup on Saturday) and today he scored a very important goal for us. He knows he is a very important player for me. "

united have extended his contract

Future legend.

{Ed025's Note - he will be remembered in the same light as carlton palmer brendan, two peas in a pod mate..

12 Jan 2017 22:14:29
If they didn't be could have walked on a free this way they can command a fee if he leaves in the summer. Good business by the club

12 Jan 2017 22:23:08
On 120 a week seems to be in Jose good book why would he leave? .
People said he would be sold last summer this Jan, but Jose picks him and backs him .
Seems people think what they want is what Jose will do

12 Jan 2017 22:35:19
And Carlton Palmer isn't a legend?

{Ed025's Note - and fellaini is?...come on brendan mate..keep it real..

12 Jan 2017 22:53:34
Some won't remember him at all ed. Totally out of his depth but happy to stay around picking up pick wages in the prime of his career playing a bit part. Started 9 league games this season. If the club wanted him long term they would have offered him a new contract not just triggered a clause where he had no option in order to protect his value. I don't blame him not wanting out he is at a club way beyond his ability and getting paid way beyond what he could get playing at his appropriate level where he would have top slog it out for 40 games a season. He is on the gravey train living the dream and not having to play very much a bit like bastian.
The actions of the club triggering this contract extention afs opposed to tying him down on a long term contract point more towards a summer sale than keeping him long term imo would you not agree ed?

{Ed025's Note - totally ken, you summed it up perfectly mate..

12 Jan 2017 23:14:29
Ken
You missed out "in my opinion"
Maybe its different to Jose, just cause you can't understand something doesn't mean it isn't so .

12 Jan 2017 23:40:06
Carlton Palmer was the English Socrates.

12 Jan 2017 23:57:35
Ok most accept he isn't united standard in a technical sense. But in a mentality sense he is.

He's had fans boo him. He's had all sorts of crap flung at him on social media. And he's battled it everytime.

Yes he isn't the greatest player. But if the likes of di Maria, depay or Schneiderlin had shown that same fight he has then who knows.

13 Jan 2017 00:22:52
thats a good point mort . nicky butt mentality, he was no scholes

13 Jan 2017 01:55:21
Well said mort 👍

Great post Ken. I personally think he will be sold when we get Joses midfielders in. Triggering a clause is not exactly a ringing endorsement say as offering him and extension if he was really within his plans.

But he is here and might be here longer and I have no problem with that. If the manager finds him useful, whatever the fans think of him then I believe he will be used and should be supported as a result.

Jred, I saw you mentioned rooney got 2 MOM appearances from CM, either a 'friend' on BT sport gave them to him or her got them out of a lucky bag. Because no performance I saw out of Rooney from CM warranted a man of the match.

fa cup final was one

I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Fellaini is a player that 3 managers have preferred at Old Trafford. He must be doing something right. He is a player that doesn't do anything fancy but keeps it simple and we don't know, may be that's what Jose asks him to do. We can't have 11 flare players playing at a time. We always need someone to do the dirty work and Fellaini does that quite well. And what's wrong if he is happy to be a squad player. He doesn't start every game. And we need Carrick and others to be fresh, right? And he does well in the Cup games.

Remember we always had Nicky Butt/ Park/ phil Neville type of players to do this type of work. Fellaini also does this and also, if required, provides an extra dimension to our attack.

13 Jan 2017 11:21:07
good post shan
i don't get peoples obsession with selling players .

13 Jan 2017 11:29:44
good post shan

I don't understand people's obsession with people's obsession about selling players.

Everybody has a different opinion.

angel
support your players look after your own

13 Jan 2017 12:18:18
Fellaini- not everyones cup of tea but reckon a lot of teams would rather have him than play against him. He has scored a few important goals he is our vinnie jones. lol

13 Jan 2017 14:58:22
I support our players. No worries about that. Some though do try and leverage the club and also take advantage of their position, I'm not a big fan of that.

13 Jan 2017 14:58:53
Having read all the opinions here, I stand by my original statement ;-)

13 Jan 2017 15:26:15
angle
yawn, i thought the thread was about fellaini?
here we go again

13 Jan 2017 15:37:04
It might be fellaini or shaw or Rooney who are getting slagged off or stick on the site but it seems to always be the few people posting it .

13 Jan 2017 15:53:45
#same few people posting it #

14 Jan 2017 02:17:24
i would play a lump of wood before fellaini, he's ok for a pullis or allardyce anti-football up and at 'em type game, but for a footballing team like united no chance.
