I predict 2017 will bring many new things.
A new club captain
A return to champions league
A first Europe league triumph
The start of a winning epl campaign
And more importantly an exciting team to watch.

Agree12 Disagree6

27 Dec 2016 17:01:46
Ooohh, I like the sound of all of that Ken!

So far so good under Jose!

27 Dec 2016 17:48:10
I'm also hoping for more fish.

27 Dec 2016 18:00:34
That would equate to a very successful first season in charge for JM.

Pick up max points from boro and Hammers and il b over the moon! Then a trip to liverpool will b another vital game for us if we win.

27 Dec 2016 18:18:17
defo more fish.

27 Dec 2016 18:42:11
Liverpool coming to OT mate.

27 Dec 2016 20:28:15
Sounds great Ken. Got to win every game from now on. No room for error. The 5 draws hurt us a lot. We could be 10 points better off.
We need the teams above us to drop points and non are doing this. Long way to go though so top 4 could be possible. The league is gone and I think we'll struggle to finish above city or scourers. So it is important to win every game from now on.

27 Dec 2016 21:43:31
Those 5 draws that could and should have been wins cost us 10 points. If we got those points we would be well in a title race, to the point that top 4 wouldn't have even been in question.

But if we can drop 10 silly points over half a season then why can't the teams currently above us drop just as many in the second half of the season?

Will Arsenal have their usual collapse? Possibly, they have bought good players but they are still questionable in defence and their mental strength has been lacking in recent years, have they changed that? I don't think so.

After 10 games everyone was ready to give City the title, they were clearly going to walk the league with St Pep. Just goes to show how things can change in the space of 10 games, and there's far more than 10 left to go.

At Chelsea the oppisite has happened, after 10 games they were questioning the appointment of Conte, yet 10 games later suddenly he's turned them into title favourites.

Liverpool are flying high now, but they do have a thin squad when it comes to the quality in depth. They are a few injuries or suspensions away from dropping silly and key points. Add to that the high intensity style Klopp likes to employ and the rigourous and unforgiving nature of our league they could well come unstuck towards the end of the season.

Spurs have a similar issue with Pochettino and his style. Thry still don't have adequate cover for Harry Kane, and they don't look anywhere near as good a side with Dembele out. We saw it last season with Spurs just running out of steam, this season a lot of their players are coming off of an international summer and will be lacking proper rest and recovery. They will drop off quite dramatically imo in the last couple of months.

I think we need too many teams to have a significant collapse while we would need to be near perfect for us to win the title this season. Its not impossible, Leicester won it last year. But its not probable. But top four is certainly achievable, we have the basis of an excellent team, our attack looks like its starting to find its feet, our midfield is formidable which we haven't been able to say gor many years, and we have hope in defence. A little more quality there and who knows how far we could go. I wouldn't be stunned if Jose was to win his third UCL title with us, if things go the right way.

There is so much to be cheerful for going into the new year, none of this new year new us bullshit, new year old United is the way forward.

27 Dec 2016 22:59:42
I think the league is gone this season. Top 4 is well within reach.
I meant next season I think we will start hot and stay hot and win the league I think we will win Europa league this season. I think we will lift 2 trophies this season and finish 2nd or 3rd and I would be delighted with that.

28 Dec 2016 09:34:23
Hahahaha, you mancs ( sorry cockneys ) make me laugh. Read every post in this thread again and take in what your saying! Your all kidding yourselves and forcing yourseleves into believing that everything is coming together and everyone ABOVE you are going to collapse, it's pretty desperate to be honest, your club collectively are pretending everything is great and you have the right manager, when deep down you all know he's been found out and players no longer buy into his BS!

I mean offering him a contract extension on the back of winning a few games that were all there to be won against moderate opposition, yet at that stage his points total was worse than moyes and van gaal, and he's lucky that all your difficult fixtures are spread out and you haven't faced any top teams consecutively ( but that's scudamore and the prem for you. )

Keep kidding yourseleves because we're all loving it.

28 Dec 2016 09:49:23
Gee Waro, 26 years isn't it? Come back if you ever win the Premier League.

28 Dec 2016 10:09:10
Waro, I haven't said everyone will. Just that its possible and probable that one or two of them could.
We've dropped 10 silly points that we should have won, and if we had even a slither of luck we would have. It happens, and more importantly it can happen to anyone.

So are you suggesting that all of the teams currently above us none of them will drop 10 points or more over the next 20 EPL games? Because that seems a little unlikely.

We have much to be happy about, our team is playing much better, things are starting to fall into place. There are still a few issues that need ironing out, but they look like they will be now.
Obviously the most obvious sign of our improvement is the nervous posts from other fans on this site.
Nothing is quite as delicious as knowing our team is stirring up fear in opposition fans.

So your probably right to suggest that EVERY team above is unlikely to collapse, although I'm not sure you needed to say it as it clearly says that in my post. But history suggest that at least one team above struggles to go a whole season without self destructing, 26 years now isn't it? Lol.

28 Dec 2016 10:31:50
I agree shappy there is much to be excited about the future does indeed look bright and the fact that wario is on here tells you how well things are going.

I don't care who you support if you cannot see a vast improvement in United under mourihno you are watching the wrong sport.

Chelsea look formidable but city and arsenal look very vulnerable to me and I believe they will both drop a lot of points between now and the end of the season.

For me Chelsea will comfortably win the league this season Liverpool look wafer thin as far as squads go so an injury or suspension would have more of an impact on them than the other teams at the top add to that that both of their goalkeeper put together still doesn't make a decent one and that will cost them dearly imo .

In a perfect world for me this season city would drop out of the top 4 we would come 2nd with the scousers 3rd and arsenal winning the top 4 trophy again.

28 Dec 2016 10:36:44
Unless Chelsea have a major meltdown ie huge amount of players get injured/ banned I think Chelsea will be able to see it out

However we only half way through the season and anything can happen in the Premier League, if we can continue this decent form then a top 4 is easily achievable, I think at least one of City/ Arsenal or Liverpool will fall apart end of the season (likely Arsenal as they are a specialist in starting well and falling apart end of the season)

28 Dec 2016 10:49:54
I welcome your comebacks, but they won't disguise your managers failings and the fact that you all thought you would walk the league at the start of the season. If your happy with your lot then that's fine. I just find it amusing to read not just the fans but your club as a whole talking like your on your way again and everything is fine when deep down you all know its not, offering a failing manager a mega contract extension hahaha, you won't admit it on here but i'll bet there's not one of you who think that's a good idea and you'd rather wait and see how mourinho does over the next 18 months, and let's not forget you've tried to buy your way to the title and your further away from it than ever. What will it be after this season 4 years and counting? I'd be careful with the jibes because I can't see you getting anywhere near it for a good few years yet, unless you up your world record bids for better players than pogba and start your salarys at 600k a week. Buying success tut tut ;-)

28 Dec 2016 11:08:58
4.

28 Dec 2016 11:13:00
Since the inception of the EPL Liverpool have had a higher net spend than United. So who's trying to buy what now? Only difference is we are on the whole better at spending it.

28 Dec 2016 11:30:09
Shappy, there you go again making stuff up, nonsense fella! But i'll humour you and say ok your right, transfer fees don't show the whole picture and you know it, our highest ever wage earner was suarez on 220k and we only paid him that for a few months, we've been ripped off with high fees for average players because we we're prepared to over pay because the player coming in would be on around 80k per week.

What did LVG spend? Close to half a billion, I suggest you check your facts on who's spent what, i'm sure you can manufacture something up as you united fans are good at papering over cracks re my original post. Mourinho must stay mourinho must stay L O LO :-P.

28 Dec 2016 11:38:29
Spending our own, self-generated income. Income generated through our success and status as one of the biggest clubs in the world. Whatever next! . Shame on us. I mean, the very nerve of it.

28 Dec 2016 12:04:59
Ironically, Waro's now talking about high wages when he's constantly moaned about lfc's owners for not competing on that front! Which way do you want it?

28 Dec 2016 12:17:04
Yes i'm envious HB you've got me there. Think our manager would spend it a lot shrewder than " the whinging quilt one "! I notice none of you have replied to my point on his contract extension offer, didn't think you would, cheery hoh hoh hoh!

28 Dec 2016 12:37:12
Waro, had he been offered a new deal, or is it press speculating again? You lot bang on about Jose being over the hill, yet he had the PL trophy in his hands 18 months ago. How has the fabulous Klopp done in his managerial career? 2 maybe 3 trophies is it? You come on here claiming were trying to buy the league, and bitter on the wages we can offer, yet if you pro rate out generated income, not sugar daddy money, but money our club generates, we probably pay no more than you proportionally. That's what you can do when you a big club.

28 Dec 2016 12:45:08
Yeah I'm sure it is correct he got offered a 10 year contract extension.

28 Dec 2016 12:53:13
Can we not have a discussion about our team on our page without some clown coming on and just being on the wind up.

28 Dec 2016 17:05:54
I just think Waro is helping you keep things in perspective. There is growing talk amongst you lot how every team is seemingly going to implode and that you will end up challenging for the title.
Remember you are clinging to the coat tails of the top 4 - one or two bad results and you could easily be near to 10 points off fourth.
whilst we lack strength in depth in some areas, we have managed to pick up points without Coutinho, Sturridge, Lallana at times. By contrast, if you lost Zlatan for a month to 6 weeks. Where are your goals coming from? I thought I saw one of your posters put up something showing he had scored or assisted in your last 7 or 8 goals. Maybe this will see you be to parking the bus for a 0-0 draw again 😉.

28 Dec 2016 17:07:17
Surprised so many of you have bitten at this young chap, when you read a post and can tell it is so deluded and bitter that it must be a Liverpool fan without him even telling you then you just have to laugh your heads off. We've got them worrried lads, bring on 2017.

28 Dec 2016 17:21:39
GDS2, HAHAHAHAHA! Yes your rise to the top has ruined my christmas through sheer worry. Bobby F, spot on my friend, i'm giving them advice so they don't look stupid in the coming months but there to arrogant to see it, they suppprt the right team don't they! My point ( simplified ) was your trying to force yourseleves to see some positives when there aren't many there so why not reign it in and wait for genuine progress without the help of the premier league fixture compilers. Toodle pip.

28 Dec 2016 17:31:20
waro and bobby

We will finish ahead of Liverpool, spurs and arsenal. No questions about that. liverpool is a coutinho/ mane team. mane gone for a month see them drop drop drop points.

Spurs just never gong to do anything this season and will top points tonight. we might have left ourselves too much to catch chelsea but the rest should be no issues. Good thing they don't hand out stuff after eighteen games. 6o points to play for and we are as good as it gets in this league.

We will win our next 3 games which includes liverpool at OT and let's see what the peanut gallery has to say after that.

28 Dec 2016 18:11:03
If we're a Coutinho team X-Files, how have we coped without him for almost 6 weeks? When Mane leaves, Coutinho comes back anyway.
Why can't you accept that we're a good team that works better as a team than yours?
And please, Manc fans call us deluded but surely you can recognise that you're not going to finish ahead of all of us, Spurs and Arsenal? Just say it out loud, it's a lot easier then;)

28 Dec 2016 18:06:17
X files, your the poster boy for what I've said here today, it's forced optimism/ bravado, you don't genuinely believe that and if you do then you know zero about football.

28 Dec 2016 19:37:19
Waro,

The poster boys for everything you've said today are all on your side of the M62 mate. Why not come back in May either way and let's discuss where we are at, if you were doing what BobbyF says then that's fine, urging caution is spot on, we have left ourselves a lot to do, but what you are saying is that there are no positives and no improvements which is quite frankly nonsense and makes you sound like you have no idea what you are talking about and like you are just trolling us, it can't be that can it?

{Ed025's Note - yes it can GDS, the green eye of the little yellow god in my book, some (but not all) liverpool supporters are obsessed with how united are doing even more than their own team, being in your shadow for so long has unfortunately taken its toll and the envy has clouded their judgement im afraid, its no longer a debate about football its about hatred and jealousy mate...sad really..

28 Dec 2016 19:45:09
X files, you're as good as it gets in this league? What is that based on? As far as I can see, Chelsea are followed by us and Man City. But I guess the league table could lie.

28 Dec 2016 19:53:05
To offer a constructive (which doesn't neccessarily mean negative) critism is fine.

However, just bein an arse because u hate the opposition is pathetic!

28 Dec 2016 20:05:41
Hilarious Waro and Bobby.
You've caught a few kippers here boys, including Ed25 the Everton fan. 😎

let's face it, United aren't a football club, they're a Public Limited Company.

Jealousy Ed 25? You couldn't be further from the truth mate.

{Ed025's Note - i think you speak with forked tongue nicky, why else would they go on another teams page and be so disparaging mate?..i rest my case..

28 Dec 2016 20:15:09
Short memory Ed25.

They do exactly the same on our page when the going gets tough.

Live by the sword, doe by the sword mate.

{Ed025's Note - 2 wrongs have never made a right nicky, and if i was editing the liverpool pages and united supporters did the same as waro i would be telling them the same thing mate..

28 Dec 2016 20:19:11
I think we will finish in the top 4,but i think we are getting ahead of ourselves here, i wouldn't start claiming we will finish second, the last number of games we won, well we should be winning them all day long,
Until we beat the cities, arsenal's, chelsea, liverpool, then we can talk, there's still a few doubts in my mind about it, and are we all convinced jose is happy in Manchester, he might be happy with the club but what about his personal life, if he isn't happy living in Manchester. we are still a few more players short and some need to go.
I think next season we will be in better order.

28 Dec 2016 20:26:29
Not saying two wrongs don't make a right Ed25 but it happens I'm afraid. And it has mate, in this site.

Like I say, if it can't be taken, don't dish it. 😕.

{Ed025's Note - the thing is nicky that you are tarring everyone with the same brush mate, its being nasty to posters who wouldn,t even dream of visiting the liverpool site, banter on others sites is fine but there is a line that we should not cross thats what im getting at..

28 Dec 2016 20:40:34
Leahy, fair enough, a balanced assessment. Yes, of the 4 games you have won in a row you should be winning 3 all day long, if not Spurs too. I would like to point out that top 4 is still on for you as it is quite possible that you will pick up the seven or eight you need to get past one of us, city or arsenal. However, a lot would have to change from the first half of the season for you to finish even second and personally I can't see that particular outcome happening.

28 Dec 2016 21:02:26
I get that Ed25 but I've not seen such concerns posted by any Eds when United fans have visited our banter page "giving it" or crossed the line. If the posts are considered that offensive then surly they should be filtered out and not posted? This is not a dog at you ed 25, just putting things into perspective mate. From my side

I have lots of friends that support United, Everton etc. Ed25 and If you think Waro is bad, you'd have heart failure if you read my Facebook page once all the footie results are in. And that goes for all of us! Lol.

{Ed025's Note - i dont get the hatred nicky, differences of opinion yes but i edit both sites an there are a lot of good people on both teams pages and i bet if they met for a pint they would get on famously, then football gets in the way and they turn into neolithic morons who want to rip each others throats out, im lucky i guess supporting everton who are very meek and mild warm hearted folk mate.. :)

28 Dec 2016 21:45:36
I've been watching Liverpool ( at the games) home and away since the mid 80''s mate, not so many away games now have a 2.5 year old boy ( terrible two's are real, believe me ) and unfortunately the tension/ hatred has always been there, at least the fighting inside and outside the grounds is pretty much non existent now!

It's not just United but the LFC/ EFC fixture has become pretty toxic these days which is a real shame. I remember going to the 86 cup final against Everton, at one point the whole of Wembley stadium sang "Merseyside "!

I agree with you regarding meeting up for a few pints, I think most of us from all banter pages would get on! Maybe it could be arranged? Now that sounds like a plan Ed25.

Sorry I have to disagree with you again Ed25 regarding the meek and mild warm hearted folk comment, I had the pleasure of sitting in the upper main stand on Monday night and I came away looking up words in the Collins dictionary that I really couldn't repeat on this site - haha

😉😉.

{Ed025's Note - thats why it was followed with a smilie nicky, im not oblivious to the fact that we have our fair share of toxics mate which was very evident at the derby, i have to tell you i was ashamed to be a blue that night..

28 Dec 2016 21:55:19
Ed0025, you can't be a scouser because your first interaction into this thread sums up pretty much ALL blues about us, your stickin your ore in because you live your dreams through the mancs, you can't win anything so you like to see them win something so they move past liverpool in the trophy standings, hahahaha, that's really really embarassing lad.

Anywho back to the original thread, spurs helped you bigtime tonight lads, looks like your masterplan of ALL the teams ABOVE you dropping ponts is comimg to fruition, Hahaha.

{Ed025's Note - i am a scouser waro, born in edge hill, grew up in wavertree and now live in gateacre, obviously been a scouser more than you as you are obviously a 14 yr old boy going by your response.. :)

28 Dec 2016 22:02:49
I know mate, that's why I thought I'd give a a tongue
in cheek answer back :-) ) )

Anyway, good to have a chat with you Ed25 and thanks for entertaining my responses! Hope you had a good Crimbo mate and wishing you a happy new year come the weekend.

Well, not so happy on Friday night - 😎.

{Ed025's Note - same to you nicky, its ok to have different views mate as long as we are civil, nice talking to you buddy..

28 Dec 2016 22:30:35
Then your first response to this thread had to be to provoke a response from a red then ed025 because a blue couldn't seriously post that as most blues I know will go out the pub on a Saturday and watch us away and cheer on the opposing team even if everton are at home, and I've had quite a few square ups with them and that's no lie.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think thats actually true waro, i dont know who you are trying to impress with the having a few square ups with everton supporters though mate, i got past the wanting to fight opposing supporters in my teens when i grew up..

28 Dec 2016 23:01:33
I'm not really interested in what you think is true ed025 and i've zero interest in impressing anyone, why would fighting with blues do that on a manc site, but a lier i'm not and I guarantee i've had lots of run ins with blues with big mouths in the gwladys st and also in pubs on scotty road, do I really have to ask mates to come on here to verify this? You've done a fantastic job deflecting from the original point so for that I doff my cap to you ed025.

{Ed025's Note - do you really think i would ever allow that in a million years waro? , i personally would not admit to that but hey..they say it takes all sorts mate..

28 Dec 2016 23:11:10
Lads i have one question for ye,
Which is bigger game the local derby or when ye are playing united.
I think years ago it would be the derby but now its v united.
Just interested to know what ye lads living in liverpool think.

29 Dec 2016 03:13:25
Oooooh. You're hard.

{Ed001's Note - is this a carry on film? Only I had visions of you saying that in a Kenneth Williams voice.....}

29 Dec 2016 07:18:05
Was going for David Brent, Ed, but now that I think about it, Kenneth Williams would be much more suitable to highlight the silliness of Waro's self-proclaimed butchness.

29 Dec 2016 07:58:23
Good question Leahy.

Not sure how old you are mate but Everton back in the mid 80's under the great Howrd Kendal were a brilliant side, with the likes of Southall ( what a keeper ) Ratliff, Sheedy, Peter Reid, Sharpy and of course Gary Linekar, the list goes on. We were the top two teams in the league. Back then the rivalry was different with Everton, a lot friendlier to say the least. Where as with United, the rivalry has always been pretty fierce.

So in answer to your question, the fixture I've always looked out for first is United away, purely as I loved the buzz of following the team away. Don't get me wrong, I sit on the Kop which is great and stood back in the 80's but for me, the hostility of away matches is the one.

There are lots of reds that I sit with that feel the Derby is the the main fixture.

I've always wondered where Manchester United would be today, had the the first floatation not taken place back in 91 and where Sky tv and football broadcasting would be had Stephen Byers, the Trade and Industry Secretary, not halted the pounds 623m takeover bid from Rupert Murdoch back in 1999. Basically the Monopolies and Mergers Commission (MMC) ruled it anti-competitive, saying it would have an adverse effect on the wider football industry, would have been an interesting scenario had it gone through.

Any way, United first for me, always has always will mate.

29 Dec 2016 13:06:34
Your own team at playing incredibly well you are second in the premier league and yet you are still on this page.

29 Dec 2016 14:58:59
Deano, If you hadn't noticed, I was having a conversation with Ed25 and Leahy asked a question.

29 Dec 2016 16:15:36
I presume Deano's response wasn't aimed at you Deano but the other numpties.

29 Dec 2016 19:10:20
Gds is correct nicky it was not aimed at you and coming on this page and having a discussion is great, coming on this page and spouting inflammatory guff like some of the other "fans" who come on here is pathetic.
