Special mention for Phil Jones too. Played 3 games in a row, has looked solid and we've only conceded 1 goal in those 3 games.

If Jones keeps playing like this - and stays fit - will we still be getting a new CB in Jan?! Or is his fitness too much of a gamble/ we need an upgrade on CB whatever? Though VvD had an immense game against Liverpool last week by the way.

Hopefully he can remain fit and play solid for us. He may end up complimenting Bailly in defence. until January.
It was a performance by the team we've been wanting and needed.

If there was a mouldfor a Jose defender it's Phil Jones. If he stays fit he will be a great player. Huge IF though.

think we need another CB anyway to replace smalling, he is an average defender at best and I haven't seen anyone so uncomfortable on the ball>.

I like Lindelof for his height and strength, I think he's still early 20's too. Be good to know if any of the ed's know if he's a target. I seem to remember ed002 mentioning Chelsea interest, but not quite sure.
{Ed002's Note - Before breaking in to the first team at Benfica's Victor Lindelof had attracted the attention of several clubs including Bayern Munich and Newcastle whilst playing in the B side. A second half display against Italy in Olomouc last summer was enough to convince van Gaal to have Manchester United scouts attend Benfica reserve games to watch him. Anderlecht, Juventus and Hamburg are known to have watched Lindehof without yet speaking to Benfica. Napoli have spoken with Benfica but consider the asking price high. Chelsea spoke with Benfica in the summer but he is far from first choice as there is also some reluctance from a certain party at Chelsea that would need to be overcome. Middlesbrough and Inter have both been watching the player this season and Manchester United being present at a recent game was in relation to another player - but perhaps they could look at Lindelof if they cannot bring in the players they prefer.}
