Jamie carragher has come out and said he thinks that juan mata is underrated and doesn't get the credit he deserves for the 5/ 6 years he's had in the premier league.
That we should be talking about him in same bracket as de bruyne, ozil, coutinho, hazard etc
What do you guys think?
I personally feel the aforementioned are more likely to produce that bit of magic out of nothing more than mata but when it comes to productivity his record is quite impressive.
{Ed025's Note - i like carragher DSG, but sometimes he does come out with a load of turkish delight, mata is a decent player but not in that bracket mate..

Agree with that ed but maybe mata can take his game to the next level. A year ago i wouldn't have put coutinho in with that calibre of player but he's been able to take his game to the next level.
{Ed025's Note - i think juan may have reached his peak DSG, hes not a regular first pick for any manager he has been under mate and for me has been a regular under achiever for the skill he has at his disposal, but maybe thats just me..

I think Mata is top class but maybe not suited to the way our team is set up . If you put him in thr City or Arsenal team he would be one of the best because the way they play.

I think the "Big game Influence" stats going round in the dailies and sky sports have something to do with Jamie's observations.

I don't feel that Mata has always been underrated. When he was at Chelsea he was widely regarded as one of the best in the league, and there was a lot of media attention when he signed with United.

He's definitely as good as Ozil, Coutinho for me. Hazard and De Bruyne are a step up on their day.

The numbers don't lie guys. Best out of that group in goals and assists per minutes played and does it against the top 6 teams too. What more does he have to do?
Cara's right, for some reason he's not as fashionable as the others. When JM sold him it cast doubts over him, he's also struggled to get international caps. usual is to question his pace, sometimes his work rate.
Since joining us his work rate and tackling have improved and his attacking numbers speak for themselves.
Keep playing him Jose!
