I would like to pass comment on recent recent goings on at our club. There have been a couple of 'news worthy' stories regarding Shaw, Smalling and Rooney in particular.

Firstly Smalling and Shaw: I don't see anything wrong with Mourinho's comments regarding both of them. Klopp has said the same about Sturridge and everyone applauded. Shaw deserves some stick. Ask me this, for £100k per week would you not run around on a pitch and risk a broken leg? Anyone who says no is a liar. Similarly Smalling. He's been a liability this season yet everyone thinks criticising him is like criticising Messi or Ronaldo. Smalling is an average Joe, he is like a rabbit in headlights with the ball at his feet and is positionally poor. He's been found out this season as the midfield hasn't generally been set up to protect him. Bailly, a young inexperienced defender, has shown him up.

Rooney: I am not a huge Rooney fan as you know. But I defend him on this occasion. He knew he wouldn't play, he's injured and decided to celebrate a wedding with a friend. Even a professional athlete is allowed to do this. The reason he has been criticised is because when you compare him to an older Zlatan or a similarly aged Ronaldo, you can see how poorly he has looked after himself over the years. Despite being potentially record breaking, I don't think he has fulfilled his potential - that is where the criticism should be aimed.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on this guys. Not been able to get on here as frequently as I'd like due to new work commitments but I remain a regular reader on my morning commute.

putting pressure on a young lad like shaw to play when he says he is getting pain, after the injury the lad had is out of order.

the amount of post i have read about not over playing young players, burn out etc .
and now it a case of making a 21 year old kid play with pain killing injections after a double leg break.

I personally disagree with burnout. When you're 20 you have more energy than you will in the rest of your life. Burnout is nonsense.

{Ed041's Note - it's about body conditioning, u train hard and your body will adapt to fitness required to play every couple if days.

Maybe all he was asked of to be named on the bench and Shaw refused.
We never know what goes on inside.

The rest of your post i agree with but like Jred said you have to be careful with Shaw but if Shaw has some attitude problems then its a different question.

17 Nov 2016 20:19:56
Agreed 101% JRED.

I personally don't think Shaw is fit enough. He looks over weight. With the money he is on he needs a boot up his ass and a strick diet and training regime.

Fresh

Smalling, I agree. He's had good games but has never fully convinced he has what it takes.

Shaw, needs to get fit but to suggest earning a lot of money is worth another broken leg is a bit silly. Health before wealth my young friend.

Rooney, captain of club and country, drunk as a skunk, completely out of order. If you want to be atop top athlete then you don't drink or you'drink in moderation. To use your own argument, is it ok for someone earring £300K per week to get rat assed? The very top players simply don't do this, that's why he has never fulfilled his potential. You can take the boy out of Liverpool but.

Totally agree with AJH. Rooney is becoming a liability.
Since fergie left, the press have been going out of their way to lay into us. Fairly or unfairly.
So for the captain of England and United to behave like that shows a total lack of respect to the job, the fans. It also shows a certain misplaced arrogance which explains why he's never really become a truly great player.

I don't think the Wayne of the last few years would be in any of the club or country teams we see ourselves as competition for and if he was he would be nothing more than a wild card substitute. He stands for everything a good captain shouldn't. Clowning around lack of effort or professionalism or even fitness. Screaming and swearing losing the head and just being a typical English scrote. It's rather embarrassing to be English and for us to put him up as the very best example of us as a sporting nation. A Captain we should all try to aspire too. If England or United were anywhere near where they should be he'd have been out of both half a decade ago.

Latest is that Southgate told Rooney to be in bed by 10pm, and he stayed out drinking till 5am. He's a very naughty boy, no pocket money, grounded until the new year, and an appointment with the wooden spoon should sort him out.

{Ed007's Note - A quick Google search shows the initial reports stating that Rooney left the wedding at 1 a.m before it changed to 5 a.m a couple of days later.
Changing it to 5 a.m makes it a much better headline don't you think?}

18 Nov 2016 11:03:54
He's a very naughty boy ed007, but maybe only grounded until Christmas if he was back in bed by 1am.

{Ed007's Note - I was more concerned/upset/flabbergasted by the lack of poppies in the pics! :-o I'm surprised The S*n didn't pick up on it.}

18 Nov 2016 11:31:05
I was always of the opinion that Rooney had a poppy head, but maybe that's just more of Irish colloquial reference.

{Ed007's Note - Ach, he's been accused of everything else on here so why not lol.}

18 Nov 2016 13:14:35
Personally think it's a load of bollocks there has to be more important things going on in the world than Rooney getting drunk at a wedding.

Southgate trying to throw his weight around for his very public job Interview. He's the villain here. Hopefully he don't get the job.
