tests indicate the injury is far worse than first feared after Smalling took pain killing injections in order to take to the field at Stamford Bridge last month.
He has reportedly broke his big toe in 2 places and has been ruled out by the medical team for at least 4 week if reports are true.

I wonder if Tuazebe will be in the bench and given some game time when the opportunity presents itself. Let's face it, it's only a matter of time before Jones is injured again.

Is this what happens when you pressurize players to play with pain killing injections?

People instantly jumping to the defence of the manager and calling the players soft, overpampered ect.

Its dangerous to pressurize players to play when they aren't fully fit or even if they don't feel fully fit.

It appears Smalling knows a thing or two about his own body more than Mourinho does.

I wonder if the fact that Mourinho never played proffessional football has any baring on his judgement on what a player should and shouldn't be capable of physically. It seems many ex professionals were pretty quick to defend both Smalling and Shaw. Does their playing career give them a better perspective in these matters?

Isn't it funny that an injury of such magnitude took a week to come to light. What was happening till now? A simple X-ray would have divulged this much.

Maybe was an injury after those comments we don't know, all I know is Smalling is a very injury prone player so the point still stand we can't rely on them.

Shan
They maybe didn't think he was injured and just needed to man up.

Maybe that's why Jose is overhauling the medical backroom? Hopefully to get more accurate and timely update for him so he can make better decisions?

11 Nov 2016 12:15:37
Well the medical team declared him fit to play. Mourinho was speaking out from the knowledge of the medical team. I would be asking questions about them more so.

Agree angelred-

i meantioned this too. i was under the impression that the medical team declared BOTH players fit but they both took it upon themselves to declare otherwise.

if this is the case, then pulling out on the morning of a big game will raise questions from any manager. perhaps now JM need to ask questions about the medical staff and there competency?

Fit in time for a January sale? ?
Rojo had done write well to be fair.

Why has it took them this long to find he's broke a bone, surely they have an x-ray machine. If i went to hospital complaining about a sore toe the 1st thing they would do is x-ray it.

He leaves himself open to the question" what does he know he never played the game" and risks the same outcome as Chelsea, he could unite the players, against him.
