I can't stand all this "he needs two or three transfer windows" talk. We've spent shedloads of money in recent years; how long can we continue throwing money at the problem without actually looking to improve what we have?

I honestly believe the manager/ team is making itself look much worse than it actually is. The squad is strong, but playing way less than the sum of its parts. The approach and application is all wrong. If we just went into games with more energy and conviction the results would be so much better. We seem to be stuck in a vicious cycle at the moment and it's hard to explain, but one thing for certain is it isn't going to chage if we continue with the same failed lineup and system.

No point Jose saying so and so isn't ready or needs to do more (Miki, carrick, Bastian) when certain players he selects every week are doing nothing. No point him moaning about having two 'left backs' at centre half when he doesn't want to give our promising young centre backs a chance. Neither zlatan or Rooney should be starting up front for a while, need movement and pace up there in the form of rashford, who he is destroying out on the wing.

Yes but we've had 3 managers in 3 years. We're into our 4th season since Fergie retired. Each manager has their own vision and whether or not the current squad has the players to match his vision.
Woodward's statement of intent - Di Maria was his way of dropping his trousers and saying look I've got a big one.

From what ED001,002 and 007 have said, the club has numerous failings that have know caught up with the club.
It will take time.

Mourinho needs to continue to strengthen where he sees fit. Bailly is out only real CB. Blind has done done well and Smalling should be a lot better but that's a rant for another day.

There are a few players who have failed to deliver for the club. These need moving on and replacing. In an ideal world the youth players would be promoted but we don't have a strong enough squad to do that without putting unnecessary pressed on the youngsters.

Another injury or two in defence and we might just how how truly good these youngsters are.

Rave,

Would you prefer for the club to close the bank or continue to strengthen?

We are in danger of becoming a Liverpool if we're not careful.

How much money do you have to spend for it to work? it's stupid amounts on what?

Pogba is a great player there's no doubt about that but under Mourinho he's done nothing and probably will do nothing. Yet there's some of you still believing you should continue spending. It's outrageous.

It may take you lot time to get sorted, that's normal but will Mourinho be given the time (2-3 seasons) to get it sorted? Going on recent performances if it carry's on there's no way he will be manager in 1-2 seasons from now.

Though I'm a Liverpool fan, Utd are a top club and are expected to be up there but they're not, they're far from up there. That's not normal for utd. They will only have patience with Mourinho for so long, then what? another manager joins and it's another 2-3 seasons? come off it, your in trouble.

Not that I'm moaning I obviously love it as you fellas would should it be us in your shoes. But the fact is, you should be doing better. Everybody was raving about the appointment of Mourinho and Pogba, need more be said?

get the players we have playing well before we go and spend another 150 mil .

Agree we have a lot of mediocrity in the squad, poor signings from previous management, but there is enough quality in our starting lineups this season to do a lot better than we are.

How many transfer windows have guardiola, Conte and even Klopp had? How much premier league experience do they have? I know they haven't won anything yet and their joy has been short lived so far, but at least they have what looks like a system and style of play. How many individual players would we gladly snap up from Liverpool or Chelsea, not many I would think, but as overall teams they are playing much better than us.

To be clear, this is not me saying we need a new manager, far from it, but Jose certainly needs a different approach, needs to bring some energy and spark back to the team. And looks like he could do with some added energy and spark himself.

And lastly lfc222 and other scousers should know better than to start lecturing other teams prematurely.

lfc222, great post. You are right you can't keep throwing money away.
It's all about buying the correct players not just big buy signingss. Bailly cost a lot but has been our best defender prior to getting injured. The problem is as Liverpool found out with Benteke, the price for decent/ good players has gone up. Man Utd are in bed of players so clubs will ask for more money.
Personally I'd love us to find a few gems that are pretty cheap who turn out to be top players. Perhaps it's time to integrate some of our younger players in the team. They certainly are more enthusiastic and play for the shirt.

He should stop moaning and use the players available just what Conte ( A new man into a new league unlike jose who knows the PL ) is doing ATM.

Yes Mad Hatter, i'm nowhere near in the know of things but i'd certainly be looking at the youngsters a little more, they have something to prove, therefore will do a lot more than the current setup. As you say they will certainly play for the shirt they're wearing, but we know Mourinho won't do this, he is too stubborn, which in my opinion will be his failure, he will look at bringing in new players, spending god knows what and failing.

05 Nov 2016 15:47:26
lfc222,

As we've seen with Liverpool and are now seeing with Utd some of the players don't understand or play for the shirt like they once used to. A lot of it is to do with a lack of players being brought through who aren't home grown talent.

05 Nov 2016 16:10:41
Abolustely mad hatter. It's a shame, for all clubs, not just ours.
