What was the highlight of robbie savages career apart from the ones on his head? I seriously can't think of any. I can't believe the standard of some of the pundits. Owen, Hargreaves, mcmanaman, sourness etc are awful. Howard Webb who only seems to comment on decisions in Manchester United games also seems to be shocking. I think they are told to be controversialike when it comes to us. Probably because many people aren't that bothered about many of the other teams.

Agree4 Disagree1

Being given a professional contact with utd, never playing for the first team then off to Crewe must of hurt him and turned him into a bitter son of a bitch.

Guys United sells, think how many coorperate deals we have.

As a result the press is full of people wanting to make a name for themselves who are happy to have a pop at us. If Savage said nice things about us they wouldn't have got printed.

Maybe he's bitter, or maybe his bank account is a little bit low. Either way he said what he said, and if he didn't someone else would have.

Or maybe he's calling it like he's seeing it. ;)

I went on 6-0-6 and gave him a hard time. It was when Rooney swore into the camera, Savage was slagging him off. I turned the radio off and went back to it 40 minutes later and he was still banging on about what a bad role model Rooney was, and how he was setting a bad example for his son (Savage's) . So I rang him and asked him a few questions.

Question 1. Which player has the second highest number of bookings ever in the Premier League. That would be you Robbie. (It was at the time)

Question 2. Which player admitted in his autobiography that he cheated to get another player sent off in a League Cup Final. That would be you again Robbie.

Question 3. In terms of setting a bad example for his son, did he think he was doing a better job than Rooney.

He kept talking about what a bad example Rooney was, I agreed with him but pointed out that wasn't why I rang him. I was trying to get him to see the hypocrisy of his argument, a terrible role model calling someone else a bad role model. As Dilbert said, never argue with an idiot.

{Ed001's Note - the fact that you phoned up to argue with him means he won mate. These morons in the media are there purely to wind people up to phone up.}

I had been on the wine but I did manage to get him to babble and gibber as he knew he was busted. Only time I've ever rung in, although I did do the sausage sandwich game on Danny Baker once.

{Ed001's Note - I have never phoned up, I don't even listen to them, I have to put up with listening to their crap enough in person, without hearing them when they are trying to talk utter ball-ox.}

Quality AJH I will have to try and get a hold of that.

Ed, how do these guys get a job? Surely there are more guys capable of being decent pundits?

{Ed001's Note - there are loads, but the intelligent ones who know the game will usually go into coaching. Plus most media companies want morons who are full of ridiculous opinions to wind people up. Then they get people phoning up their premium rate line or talking about them on social media.}

22 Oct 2016 08:38:44
And the others like Neville get paid to brainwash ed001. I am with you.

{Ed001's Note - well they get paid to repeat what producers tell them to say. My uncle did some pundit work a few years ago for the BBC, he was given almost a script about what he had to say. Being as he was a Liverpool fan and it was a Man Utd game abroad, he wasn't too happy about having to say he wanted United to win! It was either that or he would never have worked for the Beeb again. They pick people to play roles, not to just be themselves.}

What's your take on MNF then ed? Personally I think both carragher and neville are quite good.

Neville himself, will actually explain things rather than use vague old clichéd notions that are overly used ala many other pundits.

I know how tv works but not all stick to the script.

{Ed001's Note - I don't watch it, sorry. I haven't lived in the UK for years to watch it now. I have seen clips of it, and it is not scripted as such, but they are defo using clips etc found and handed to them by others. The pair of them simply wouldn't have time to pick them all out, or even necessarily to notice all the things that have happened, so you need that backroom team. All the pair need to be is intelligent and articulate enough to understand and explain it simply, that they seem to do well.

The good thing is the pair have known each other a long time (if I remember correctly I am sure they were at Lilleshall around the same time?) and are friendly, so they can hit off each other well. So it is about their personalities, rather than a forced script, which is much better than the formulaic approach of TalkSh**e, who just pick morons to draw in abuse.

I would like to see George Graham brought back, to be honest, he was fantastic at explaining the art of defending when he was on there in the early days of their coverage. His personality did not really come across well in those days, but his knowledge was incredible and he really was fully able to explain how a back four should work when defending.}

Alright ed. I lived abroad for many years too so I never used to get to watch it but I'm in London now so I do watch it now and again.

I understand there always has to be a good team behind the faces. But they are very articulate and can actually explain tactics very well.

I try to liken it to watching NFL. When I first watched it i hadn't a clue what was going on but thanks to the great breakdowns during the quarters by the analysts (they would break down every pass and position) I learned the game quite quickly. I think neville does something similar in a footballing sense, instead of the 'oh he played a great ball down the wing' guff, he analyses the play, breaks down the reasoning behind why a team does certain things. I think it's great what they do.

Can not for the life of me listen to talkshite or watch BT with the sound on. When I listen or watch these programs I want to learn and understand things better. Carragher and neville do that very well for me.

I have only seen George graham a couple of times and thought he was great but maybe he wasn't the kind of 'face' sky wanted. Very good coach though.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think Graham had enough personality for TV, he came across as dour and boring, when he was anything but.}

Ed I guess if your happy to be puppet you could make a generous living out of that line of work.

Angel I told you before it is all propaganda. You have to listen to the Maze.

22 Oct 2016 11:03:44
Except for Scholes he says it how he sees it. No propoganda or sensationalism or bias from him. He is unique and had a different contact than the rest of the puppets.

22 Oct 2016 11:24:02
Much experience in television then maze?

22 Oct 2016 11:26:35
Haha Ken 😂😂.

22 Oct 2016 11:28:29
Does Scholes do tactical analysis after games and tell you that it was tactics and not a rotten performance Ken?

22 Oct 2016 11:30:25
Sometimes feels like posters on here work from a script top 😂.

22 Oct 2016 11:55:10
Written by the krankies😀😀.
