Darrick, played 2, won 2 and looked class in both. I think Carrick sitting with Herrera and Pogba getting forward would be great, and we could still play 2 wide players.

He may be old but he still oozes class. 11th season as well and no mention of a testimonial.

Agree11 Disagree1

He's a class act. Plays the ball forward at every opportunity.

21 Oct 2016 13:57:31
Still had a lot to offer Tony imo. Model pro and rarely had a poor game. One of fergie best signings for me.

21 Oct 2016 14:03:10
I'm not sure Carrick and Herrera together will work. I think it has to be one or the other. This season Herrera has looked his best when he has been the deepest midfielder and with Carrick in the team that won't be the case. Having said that I would go with Carrick at the Bridge.

One other thing I think United look better with Rooney up top. It looked like Pogba, Mata, Martial and Lingard seemed to understand what buttons to press when moving forward with Rooney ahead of them rather than Zlatan. Some quick slick passing helped transition the ball and even though Wayne has lost pace I feel Zlatan slows the team down and does not contribute when we lose the ball.

I agree it's either Ibra or Rooney, just not both together. Jeez, how bad is my typing, I read my posts and sometimes I can't understand them.

{Ed041's Note - it's a good job your pretty :)

I love Carrick, but we have to put it into perspective. Two games against poor sides at home where we totally dominate the game and the opposition don't press the ball is totally different to two games away to Liverpool and Cheslea. In games where the pace of the game is frantic his age could get the better of him. I don't think Carrick is the answer, although I'm happy for him to be used in rotation. I prefer a midfield 3 of Hererra, Pogba and mata/ Mikhitarian, if miki ever gets a game.

21 Oct 2016 14:46:08
i think the wig will play on sunday.

21 Oct 2016 15:13:03
I think the wig and Young will probably play.

21 Oct 2016 15:15:11
miki has done nothing so far to push for a starting spot .
i don't think jose really see's him as a matedfielder, i think he will play and was bought to predominantly play wide like last season.

21 Oct 2016 15:19:39
Sadly Jred, I agree. Stand, I get Carrick is old but I still think he will do it if he is picked sparingly. I'd actually pick him for the big games as opposed to the second string ones. Old or not he still offers so much more than Fellaini (yes yes I know Fellaini has been doing ok lately) . I'd use him to sit to save his legs, he's almost an extra CB, everyone else can then get forward.

21 Oct 2016 15:19:14
Yep thought this all season, he is still the best at picking out 20/ 30 yard forward passes and gives us balance because he's comfortable sitting in. i'd like to see Herrera next to him for energy/ creativity and Pogba ahead of them causing trouble to defences.

Ed041, I think you'll find its "you're" 😎.

{Ed041's Note - thanks, I am.

21 Oct 2016 15:34:41
I agree that Carrick has been excellent for united over the last decade or so but when played against teams that press and harras he is prone to lose possession, it happened twice last night. I know last season was a bit of a right off but don't we have a certain German on the books who could do what we are asking carrick to do? I agree Herrera has played well in the deeper position but I still we would see his and pogbas best games in a midfield three allowing them both to push forward but with herrara being slightly more disaplined in defence.

21 Oct 2016 15:33:40
So how come we played well against stoke and leicester where zlatan dropped deep time to time and dictated play maze and pogba and mata were interchanging very well with him, something we haven't seen with rooney yet, also what does rooney contribute when we lose the ball he runs around like a headless chicken, dropping deep when he needs to be up top as a lone striker.

21 Oct 2016 16:20:50
I completely disagree maze. I thought the team have looked better with mata behind ibra and pogba in midfield so far. Much better than when rooney plays up top.

Credit where credit is due, Rooney played much better last night but I still don't believe he merits a starting spot ahead of ibra just yet. Ibra seems to link with pogba and mata much better. Mainly down to the fact that he has a better first touch than wayne.

common
just reading down the page and your post seem to have a certain tone.

good game last night, 4 goals and not a post from u about it.

21 Oct 2016 16:27:30
just missing ken and its the full crew ;)

21 Oct 2016 16:39:28
What are you talking about jred? Who are the full crew?

21 Oct 2016 17:19:11
He missed my posts little Dennis wise angry man😀😀😀.

21 Oct 2016 17:28:56
whats looked the best cm pair?
i thought herrera and wig where excellent against the scouse.

21 Oct 2016 19:34:17
I'd like to see a 3 man midfield of herrera pogba and Carrick.

But I think he's going to go with herrera and fellaini. Fellaini in fairness hasn't done much wrong. I just thing that there is much more flow and forward thinking when Carrick is in the team.

21 Oct 2016 20:00:40
angel
i don't see jose playing 3 in the middle.
the big question is where to play pogba .
not going to happen but i would love to see rash play 9.

21 Oct 2016 20:22:29
I know jred. I was just saying what I'd love to see it. But if that's the case I think pogba with herrera and mata at 10.

Rash up top is the future pal. But it's going to be ibra up top and i'd like to see martial and rash wide. I think that front 4 would cause all sorts of problems.

But you never know, Jesse could start, fellaini might start with herrera with pogba at 10? So many options.

21 Oct 2016 20:47:53
i think young will play, done well against the scouse would be harsh if he was just dropped again . if he wasnt going to play against chelsea i think he would of played last night.

21 Oct 2016 21:18:28
I think Mourinho will be more adventurous against Chelsea than he was against Liverpool.

I expect he will go with Herrera and Pogba with Mata in the No.10 role.

Shaw might get a run out if Smalling isn't fit enough with Blind moving to CB.

21 Oct 2016 21:49:48
shaps
i can't see him dropping the wig unless he really doesn't want to play pogba at 10 again .
kante and matic are a strong 2 plus conte will prob but another in there.

21 Oct 2016 22:23:58
CSM where did I post that Zlatan was awful against Stoke and Leicester? All I said was I thought the link up and interchange play from the attacking midfielders and Rooney looked a lot more cohesive than it has done with Zlatan over the past few games.

Personally I would prefer to have Rash up top through the middle or been possibly Martial because I am a big fan of pace in behind and direct running at centre defenders because it scares the crap out of them. Full backs get coached to deal with direct wingers and centre backs get taught to keep thier position, hold it up and head the ball. They had a striker running at them hence why Thierry Henry may be the best PL player ever.

Having said that at the moment if it is between Wayne and Zlatan for the striker role I would probably pop Rooney up top against Chelsea. I think what he offers off the ball is significantly better and that is what is going to help the talented midfielders out, not some lazy lump.

22 Oct 2016 15:50:29
Here we go again jred, so you accuse me of having a sly dig by having one at me, where have we seen this before.
