Scouser here in peace,

Just came on here to check you were all talking about Monday, and pleased to see you are. All I want to say is, however much money changes football, I always have, and always will feel that Liverpool v United is the biggest game in English football. Forget City, Everton, Chelski, whoever, this is the game I look forward to.
Presume it's the same for you lot as well, the real fans of you?

Anyway I'm concerned by how it looks on paper and in the media like we'll beat you. A game against United is never easy, (barring Moyes at OT) not to mention a Mourinho team.

I've had two dreams this week. One where you beat us 3-2, one where Mané scored a wondergoal winner in a 2-1 win for us.

I'm cautiously hopeful of the latter, but I was expecting a José loss at home to chelsea when stevie infamously slipped.

Until monday.

According to most lfc fans and pundits we shouldn't even make the journey with most people giving you a 3-0/ 3-1 win. Just hope lfc take that attitude into the game.

Toddy. It will be a good match. I think on paper, United have the better team. However, klopp has been there for a year and has imposed his style on Liverpool. Mourinho has only been here a short period and will need time.
Phil Thompson said today that Mane will terrorise our defence with his pace, with smalling Bailly and Valentin in our back four, I don't think pace will be the answer. I haven't mentioned Blind as his mind works faster than most. He's an excellent defender.
I think what could unhinge us is the interchanging between your front line. This is where we've got to be wary.
I also think that Martial rashford Mata and Zlatan can give u lot a hard time.
I'm going for a draw.

I think we are going to grab a few goals tomorrow. I think for all their fantastic high pressing and work rate they are extremely suspect at the back especially when it comes to set pieces.

I think we will cause them all sorts of problems tomorrow and we could be looking at a lot of goals in the game.

3-1 United.

I have 3.2 to united. Like angelred said there will be a lot of goals and it will really be a entertaining match it could well be a last minute goal from either said but i will stick with 3.2 to united.

NM, you've cheered up! You thought we'd lose comfortably, in the post directly below. Forget to take your medication, again? :)

or jose will shut up shop and it will be 0.0.

16 Oct 2016 12:58:02
You reckon 0.0 jred?

16 Oct 2016 13:07:54
no idea angel

but away from home, against a big rival jose normally sets up not to lose first.
but goals change games.

Jred, I'm happy to say since Joses been here, he hasn't been that defensive at all. Also we play better football, when teams leave gaps. We don't do well when teams sit back with 2 banks of 4s. L'pool press much higher than any team 'tis season, so I think United have a very good chance of taking something from this game. City where all over us, only in some periods of that game, They wasn't a constant attacking threat like pool seem to be. They have no chill, I think that may go well for us. We don't have the necessary tools to play "shut up shop", our RCM+LCM are better suited to go forward. Shneiderlin Carrick and Bastian could happily sit back all game but they don't get game time let alone be trusted in a league game. Also let's be honest, our defenders other then Bailey who is still learning, aren't players who can constantly be on the back foot to be able to shut up shop.

i think leicester was the only game in our last 8 that we have scored more than one goal in a game .

who knows but 9 times out of 10 in an away game against a rival jose has in the past set up not to lose .

but an early goal could change everything.

16 Oct 2016 16:35:48
I'd agree with that summary jred. We all know how he likes to set up.

I just get a sense from watching Liverpool this season and last that they have a serious defensive problem. One I think we can really exploit. But it would take the front 4/ 5 to really click.

I just see us targeting them at set pieces and with our height and power grabbing a goal or two. I can also see us hit them on the counter. Could make for great entertainment. But with every pundit/ ex pro stating they think Liverpool will win, I feel Jose will use that to his advantage.

16 Oct 2016 22:30:36
The point about Leicester is the reason I believe the game will favour us! Liverpool and Leicester are very similar In there style in terms of pressing high in there games. Leicester left so many gaps, allowing us to play our football. Leicester also had the best denfence last season imo and liverpools defence isn't anything special or anything like leicesters so I do believe our players will be able to express themselves rather than having to break down 9/ 10 men behind the ball. Jose played defensive against top opponents at a time when he was around the top of the table, we are not on top of the table, fighting for a draw (by going defensive) doesn't help us in any sort of way ATM or in the long run, also Jose knows this is the biggest game of English football so he probably sees it as his most important game in charge so far. Would he really want to say, he was happy with a point defending all game? He went for the win against city, I don't think he'll ruin the best game of the season by fighting for a 0:0.

Stevie. I had to cheer up. The alternative is unbearable. Found the happy pills eventually, but that was just after I took the dementia pills. Haha.
I think if we let them, then the scousers will beat us. But hoping for a draw.
Whatever happens, it's only 3 points.

16 Oct 2016 23:42:32
I just have a feeling, with everything stacked against us, including the media, and most importantly, an in-form Liverpool team, we might just sneak a wee smash and grab. I'm hoping for a result that will make going to the pub with my mate, instead of taking my wife out for her birthday dinner, worth the inevitable week-long silent treatment.

16 Oct 2016 23:49:05
Such a defeatist way of thinking Schmid😔. And Schmid it's more than 3points when it's against the scouser!
